You are a genius! I have a 2016 Jeep Renegade and my key fob stopped working after I installed a new battery. At first, I thought the batteries were defective. Then I call the dealership said they told me it could be reprogrammed by one of their computer specialists but that it would be very expensive and they don't come in every day. Luckily I found your video and your instructions worked perfectly. Thank you so much. You saved me time, money and unnecessary frustration. You'd think the dealerships would know this trick by now.

You Sir are a lifesaver! This worked exactly as you described on our 2013 Dodge Journey Crew! The alarm was going off every time we tried to get in the car even though we used the key but after watching your video and doing exactly what you said, it worked! Had to leave the fob on the door like 10 mins with the car running but we have not had any more problems after that. Again, thank you so much and may your kindness come back to you ten fold!

Tried this on my 2011 Dodge Charger and it worked great. The lock/unlock trunk didn't work but then I stood at the drivers door and had the fob near the outside handle. Kept pressing the lock/unlock and trunk buttons and they started working also. Had a second fob that had a dead battery. Replaced it and repeated the above. Got that one working too. THANK YOU Sir for taking the time to share your fix. Much appreciated.
That worked on my 2012 Dodge Charger SE. I had replaced the battery in the Key Fob a day or two ago. Today it acted as if it couldn't see it. Drove me nuts. Watched this video and followed procedure. No problem. Started and locked and unlocked doors without any issue. Thank you for spending a few moments to share!

When my granddaughters and I found ourselves stuck on a parking lot because my only fob lost its mind, the local Dodge dealership said I needed a tow to their shop and they could fix it...TOMORROW... My husband found your video. Stressed, I told the 4 girls to be quiet so I could hear you. When they heard what you said to do, they started giggling. I didn't see how it would work. After all, wouldn't the tech at Dodge have simply given this Mamaw the instructions?? Stranded with 4 kids...tomorrow??? Wife just called me from work after a 12hr shift with this problem. Found this video, called hard back, with some skepticism but WTF it actually worked! Thank you sir. Not sure how you found this odd little trick, considering her dealership didn't know it and told her she'd have a couple hours wait until their service guy could get out to her. Awesome! We own the same thing and have had non-stop problems. Because the battery is in the wheel well, it gets corroded with salt in the winter. Had to take it in to replace the battery last year because the wires corroded off. Now the battery that is a year old has stopped working and we have to reset the fobs.

Surprised! i am stunned. For 6 months of Not working key fob. After watching different stuff this one suprisingly worked. After the press the brake to start (it went off and came back on in 10 seconds, kinda like a reset.) with doors closed and switch on (not running) i hit the door unlock button (the doors was already unlocked but they clicked). i did that 3-4 times. Then i hit the trunk, it opened. Then the alarm button. It worked. So follow his instructions and be patient. Luckily it worked for me. Good luck to you. And Many thanks to the guy.

No idea how or why this worked but it worked for my new to me 2015 Chrysler 200S. The fob buttons didn’t work at all. The door sensor recognized the fob and unlocked the doors. The ignition also worked. Did this procedure and now all the buttons work. Thank you.

Yes, I agree it doesn't look like it will work. I still don't understand why it works when the remote is put in the door before push to start. It should work better if it is in the cup holder, but it doesn't.

Thanks so much. I had this issue with two remotes (one with a new battery) 7 hours from my home on vacation. I used the FOB pressed to Start button method I found elsewhere to get home. But after 7 hours worrying about what was wrong with the car and the cost of the fix I found this. It worked like a charm to reset the key FOBs. PS I missed the 5 ,imutes part and it didn't work the first time but with the proper run time it worked great.
A good tip is to lay the key fob down inside of the cupholder and start the car. Hopes this helps!

Tried this on my 2010 Chrysler 300 with mixed results. It did allow the engine to start and drive, but after turning it off, it went back to not detecting the fob. However, now it will turn on if I push the button with the fob. So that's certainly better than nothing. Thanks!
shouldn't have to be like that. you should change the battery of the fob. and check the car battery as well. thanks for posting

Ok!! My Kia Stinger key fob could unlock and lock doors but only start with key fob touching the Start button. Battery is new. I've watched 20-30 you tube videos on resetting, nothing worked. But this somehow did!!!!! I don't get it. I thought this guy was blowing smoke-- as simple as he said it, my car started without touching the fob to the start button. Thank You!!!

Tested the battery at 3.19 Volts and it didn't work. Put a battery in at 3.29 Volts and it worked. So it looks like it depends on the battery voltage.

Thank you for showing me this will try it with my Nissan. The dealer keep telling me to buy new batteries. I think it's a disconnection between my car and the fob. It keep say it does not detect a key. Will not open door unless I am persistant. My door has no key access. They also wanted me to buy new fods. I've only had the car 1year. Thanks again

Also try disconnecting the negative and postive terminal on the battery for about 5 to 10 minutes, worked in my 14 Dodge Charger when this happened.
