abdelrahman mohamad Not really. Both empires were weak from the war and the plague so, conquest was a much easier process. A healthy Rome and Persia would've never fallen to the Arabs.

Interesting to see how many of the Empires take on essentially the same borders despite huge differences in time, culture and geopolitical circumstance. Makes you see quite clearly how significant natural barriers like deserts, mountains and rivers were as natural barriers for further expansion.

Do spend 2 minutes to read this heart melting historical answer by a great scholar
A reply by Huzoor Mujahid e Ahle Sunnat, Hadrat Allaamah Syed Shah Turaab al Haq Qadiri(May Allah Almighty preserve him)
Question: Shah sahib Qibla, I wanted to know what is the hukm for Sunnis, when they go for Hajj and Umrah, with regards to performing Salah behind the wahabi najdi imams ?
Answer: The Salah of a Sunni is only valid behind a Sunni Imam, and not behind followers of any other sect. Before the saudis took over, the Ottomans ( including Turks, Arabs and Kurds also) were in power. They made such arrangements that four Salah congregations would take place, four musallahs were put down on all four sides of the Kaaba.
Hanbali, Maaliki, Hanafi, and Shafi'ee, each follower of each Imam would perform Salah behind his Imam, therefore there was no issue whatsoever.
The Ottomans era of rule was the rule of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.When the saudis came they took the rule from the turks, aal saud and aal shaykh took over the rule of the country.aal saud are the worldly kings which namely control today, and they went as far as naming the Hijaz country by this name also (saudi Arabia) after taking the country by force. The aal shaykh are the children of Muhammad ibn abdul Wahhaab.
Before attacking the Sacred Haram aal saud and aal shaykh made an agreement that, they would jointly attack Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah, and when our government is established, aal saud will take over the kingdom and rulership, and aale shaykh will deal with all the religious affairs.
The Imams will be theirs, qaadis, madrassas, muhadiths, muftis etc will all be supplied by aal shaykh. After this agreement, they attacked Madinah Munawwarah and Makkah Mukarramah.
A few years ago, the Saudi government celebrated their anniversary. King Abdul Aziz was shown on tv riding on a horse within Haram Shareef, slaughtering and murdering people with his sword. Who were these people being unlawfully murdered ?
Had the jews suddenly appeared inside the HaramShareef ?
No, these were Sunnies being murdered.
The Imam of Masjid Nabawi Shareef was slaughtered whilst being on the musallah by a sword.
Only 200 people attacked Madinah Shareef. When I first visited MadinahShareef in the year 1977, I stayed with Huzoor Qutb e Madinah Shaykh Zia al Deen Alaihirrahmah. I stayed with them for 40 days, I would hear quietly from them about the history.
Huzur Qutb e Madinah told me, only 200 people from the najdi army attacked Madinah Shareef.
The Ottomans were such staunch and respectful Sunnies that when they were attacked, they surrendered and laid down their weapons by saying that they will not allow blood to be spilt within the sacred court of the Most Beloved Sall Allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, they allowed themselves to be slaughtered and attained martyrdom without defending themselves, and the same was the case in Makkah Shareef. They took over the country in this way. People forget everything!
The first thing they did after taking over, was that they bulldozed Jannah al Baqee Shareef. They dug up the graves of the blessed personalities in Jannah al-Baqee Shareef, dug up the graves of Ahle Bait e Kiraam.
The Most beautiful Mazaar in Jannah al Baqee Shareef was that of Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani Radi Allahu Anhu. They took it apart stone by stone and flattened it into the ground. Then they demolished the Mazaars of Jannah al Maala shareef.
They demolished all these Mazaars, and the Najdis of that time would say, The green dome is the biggest idol, this needs to be destroyed, MaazAllah, But they did not succeed in this evil plan. This took place in the time of Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Molana Abdul Hamid Badayuni, Molana Abdul Aleem sidiqui. There was a journalist by the name Riyaaz al Hasan or Riyaaz al Hussain, whose interview was published approximately 30 years ago in the newspaper Jang. He was a member of the delegates that went to Saudi Arabia to protest.
The Saudi government promised them at that time that they would rebuild these mazaars. The small stones that you see today at the Mazaars of the ahle Baqee, which enable us to recognise the maqaam of Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Anha or Sayyiduna Imam Hasan RadiAllahu Anhu, is due to those people who campaigned at that time.
Even till today they have not fulfilled their promise of reconstructing the Mazaars.
The Tomb of Sayyidah Khadeejah al-Kubraa Radi Allahu Anhaa was beautifully built in the Jannah al Maala graveyard, come and I will show you all those pictures taken prior to this demolition.
Now, you tell me, that those evil people who slaughtered thousands of Sunni Muslims, forcefully took over Makkah Shareef and Madinah Shareef.
      Have you all forgotten everything?
And you still dare ask, Why can’t we pray behind them?
We do not pray behind them because they consider us, the people of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah,as mushriks. Now, you tell me, wouldyou pray behind someone who calls you a mushrik?
This is why we do not pray behind them! If anyone wants to study this history, then study the book of Allaamah Abdul Qayuum, Tareekh Najd o Hijaaz. If you want to research who was Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab search on internet for the book confessions of a british spy.
Who was this Hempher? there were seven spies who broke up the Turkish rulership, six of them were men and there was one woman. They went to Istanbul and caused havoc. Hempher, studied the Darse Nizaamicourse with a Shaykh in Istanbul, and studied the Arabic language. He would say, Whenever someone suspected me of spying, I would begin speaking in Arabic.
He has completely exposed Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhaab in this book, confessions of a british spy which has been published in Arabic from Kuwait, and also from London, from where these spies belonged.
It discloses everything regarding Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab and how he misled him, debated with himand convinced him that alcohol is not haram, and then he persuaded him that Mutah is also halal, ultimately he made him form a temporary marriage with the female British spy. He would praise and flatter him by saying, You are a great servant of Allah. You are like Sayyiduna Umar Farooq, and Allah Almighty has destined great things for you. If you do not believe me, then read this book by the british spy. The book is available openly on the internet. This is the reality of the ale shaykh and aale Saud.
Today the simple Muslims think that because this is Haram Shareef, the Imam here will also be someone verypious and god fearing.
We do not pray behind these people because oftheir evil beliefs and their past actions as well as their beliefs regarding us.
      Translated from the urdu audio
by Faqeer Mohammed Shakeel Qadiri Ridawi
      Rabi al Awwal Shareef 2014
Wahhabism was born in the middle of the 18th century in the sleepy desert-village of Dir’iyyah located in the ArabianPeninsula’s central region of Najd ( real name for the land now called Riyadh ). The Wahhabi sect derives its name from the name of its founder Mohammad Ibn Abdul-Wahhab.

I seek refuge with Allah (The God) from expelled satan
SURAH AL ISRA / CHAPTER 17.THE NIGHT JOURNEY
In The Name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful
      1. Glory to Him who journeyed His servant by night, from the Sacred Mosque (Kabe in Mecca), to the Farthest Mosque (Masjidu'l Aksa in Qudus), whose precincts We have blessed, in order to show him of Our wonders. He is the Listener, the Beholder.
      2. And We gave Moses the Scripture (Torah), and made it a guide for the Children of Israel: Take none for protector other than Me.
      3. The descendants of those We carried with Noah. He was an appreciative servant.
      4. And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture: You will commit evil on earth twice, and you will rise to a great height.
      5. When the first of the two promises came true, We sent against you servants of Ours, possessing great might, and they ransacked your homes. It was a promise fulfilled.
      6. Then We gave you back your turn against them, and supplied you with wealth and children, and made you more numerous.
      7. If you work righteousness, you work righteousness for yourselves; and if you commit evil, you do so against yourselves. Then, when the second promise comes true, they will make your faces filled with sorrow, and enter the Temple as they entered it the first time, and utterly destroy all that falls into their power.
      8. Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you revert, We will revert. We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers.
      9. This Quran guides to what is most upright; and it gives good news to the believers who do good deeds, that they will have a great reward.
      10. And those who do not believe in the Hereafter-We have prepared for them a painful punishment.
      11. The human being prays for evil as he prays for good. The human being is very hasty.
      12. We have made the night and the day two wonders. We erased the wonder of the night, and made the wonder of the day revealing, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and know the number of years, and the calculation. We have explained all things in detail.
      13. For every person We have attached his fate to his neck. And on the Day of Resurrection, We will bring out for him a book which he will find spread open.
      14. “Read your book; today there will be none but yourself to call you to account.”
      15. Whoever is guided-is guided for his own good. And whoever goes astray-goes astray to his detriment. No burdened soul carries the burdens of another, nor do We ever punish until We have sent a messenger.
      16. When We decide to destroy a town, We command its affluent ones, they transgress in it, so the word becomes justified against it, and We destroy it completely.
      17. How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? Your Lord is sufficient as Knower and Beholder of the sins of his servants.
      18. Whoever desires the fleeting life, We expedite for him what We decide to give him, to whomever We desire. Then We consign him to Hell, where he will roast, condemned and defeated.
      19. But whoever desires the Hereafter, and pursues it as it should be pursued, while he is a believer; these-their effort will be appreciated.
      20. To all-these and those-We extend from the gifts of your Lord. The gifts of your Lord are not restricted.
      21. See how We have favored some of them over others; yet the Hereafter is greater in ranks, and greater in favors.
      22. Do not set up another god with God, lest you become condemned and damned.
      23. Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents. If either of them or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of disrespect, nor scold them, but say to them kind words.
      24. And lower to them the wing of humility, out of mercy, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on them, as they raised me when I was a child.”
      25. Your Lord knows best what is in your minds. If you are righteous-He is Forgiving to the obedient.
      26. And give the relative his rights, and the poor, and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully.
      27. The extravagant are brethren of the devils, and the devil is ever ungrateful to his Lord.
      28. But if you turn away from them, seeking mercy from your Lord which you hope for, then say to them words of comfort.
      29. And do not keep your hand tied to your neck, nor spread it out fully, lest you end up liable and regretful.
      30. Your Lord expands the provision for whomever He wills, and restricts it. He is fully Informed, Observant of His servants.
      31. And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them, and for you. Killing them is a grave sin.
      32. And do not come near adultery. It is immoral, and an evil way.
      33. And do not kill the soul which God has made sacred, except in the course of justice. If someone is killed unjustly, We have given his next of kin certain authority. But he should not be excessive in killing, for he will be supported.
      34. And do not go near the orphan’s property, except with the best of intentions, until he has reached his maturity. And honor your pledge, because the pledge involves responsibility.
      35. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with accurate scales. That is fair, and the best determination.
      36. And do not occupy yourself with what you have no knowledge of. The hearing, and the sight, and the brains-all these will be questioned.
      37. And do not walk proudly on earth. You can neither pierce the earth, nor can you match the mountains in height.
      38. The evil of all these is disliked by your Lord.
      39. That is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. Do not set up with God another god, or else you will be thrown in Hell, rebuked and banished.

I seek refuge with Allah (The God) from expelled satan
SURAH RUM / CHAPTER THE ROMANS
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
      1. Alif, Lam, Meem.
      2. The Romans have been defeated.
      3. In a nearby territory / on the lowest place of the world (near Lake Lut). But following their defeat, they will be victorious.
      4. In a few years. The matter is up to Allah, in the past, and in the future. On that day, the believers will rejoice.
      5. In Allah’s support. He supports whomever He wills. He is the Almighty, the Merciful.
      6. The promise of Allah-Allah never breaks His promise, but most people do not know.
      7. They know an outer aspect of the worldly life, but they are heedless of the Hereafter.
      8. Do they not reflect within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, except with reason, and for a specific duration. But most people, regarding meeting their Lord, are disbelievers.
      9. Have they not travelled the earth and seen how those before them ended up? They were more powerful than them, and they cultivated the land and developed it more than they developed it, and their messengers came to them with clear signs. Allah would never wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.
      10. Then, evil was the end of those who committed evil. That is because they rejected Allah’s revelations, and used to ridicule them.
      11. Allah originates creation, and then repeats it. Then to Him you will be returned.
      12. On the Day when the Hour takes place, the guilty will despair.
      13. They will have no intercessors from among their idols, and they will disown their partners.
      14. On the Day when the Hour takes place-on that Day they will separate.
      15. As for those who believed and did good deeds-they will be delighted in meadows.
      16. But as for those who disbelieved, and rejected Our signs and the encounter of the Hereafter-those will be hauled into the torment.
      17. So glorify Allah when you retire at night, and when you rise in the morning.
      18. His is the praise in the heavens and on earth, and in the evening, and when you reach midday.
      19. He brings the living out of the dead, and He brings the dead out of the living, and He revives the land after it had died. Likewise you will be resurrected.
      20. And of His signs is that He created you from dust; and behold, you become humans spreading out.
      21. And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them; and He planted love and compassion between you. In this are signs for people who reflect.
      22. And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for those who know.
      23. And of His signs are your sleep by night and day, and your pursuit of His bounty. In this are signs for people who listen.
      24. And of His signs is that He shows you the lightning, causing fear and hope. And He brings down water from the sky, and with it He revives the earth after it was dead. In this are signs for people who understand.
      25. And of His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand at His disposal. And then, when He calls you out of the earth, you will emerge at once.
      26. To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth. All are submissive to Him.
      27. It is He who initiates creation, and then repeats it, something easy for Him. His is the highest attribute, in the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, the Wise.
      28. He illustrates an example for you, from your own selves: do you make your servants full partners in the wealth We have given you? Do you revere them as you revere one another? We thus explain the revelations for a people who understand.
      29. Yet the wrongdoers follow their desires without knowledge. But who can guide whom Allah leaves astray? They will have no helpers.
      30. So devote yourself to the religion of monotheism-the natural instinct Allah has instilled in mankind. There is no altering Allah’s creation. This is the true religion, but most people do not know.
      31. Turning towards Him-and be conscious of Him, and perform the prayer, and do not be of the idolaters.
      32. Of those who divided their religion, and became sects; each faction pleased with what they have.
      33. When affliction touches the people, they call on their Lord, turning to Him in repentance. But then, when He gives them a taste of His mercy, some of them attribute partners to their Lord.
      34. To show ingratitude for what We have given them. Indulge yourselves-you will surely know.
      35. Have We sent down to them any authority, which speaks in support of their idols?
      36. When We give people a taste of mercy, they rejoice in it. But when adversity befalls them, because of what their hands have perpetrated, they begin to despair.
      37. Do they not see that Allah expands the provision for whomever He wills, or restricts it? Surely in this are signs for people who believe.
      38. So give the relative his rights, and the destitute, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah’s presence. Those are the prosperous.
      39. The usury you practice, seeking thereby to multiply people’s wealth, will not multiply with Allah. But what you give in charity, desiring Allah’s approval-these are the multipliers.
      40. Allah is He who created you, then provides for you, then makes you die, then brings you back to life. Can any of your idols do any of that? Glorified is He, and Exalted above what they associate.
      41. Corruption has appeared on land and sea, because of what people’s hands have earned, in order to make them taste some of what they have done, so that they might return.
      42. Say, “Roam the earth, and observe the fate of those who came before. Most of them were idolaters.”
      43. So devote yourself to the upright religion, before there comes from Allah a Day that cannot be averted. On that Day, they will be shocked.
      44. Whoever disbelieves, upon him falls his disbelief. And whoever acts righteously-they are preparing for themselves.
      45. So that He may reward those who have believed and done the righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not love the ungrateful.

During my first year in high school, our history teacher showed this video as a summary of the lesson. Out of nowhere, everybody started getting hype for some reason. I went to the back to tell my friend Markus this one word: Lakers. It was during the 5:51 mark I think, and I thought about the Lakers since it was purple and yellow (I should've thought about Lakers and Kings but my stupidton brain didn't think that way). So all of a sudden as the timeline progresses we started comparing the empires to various NBA teams. Rashidun/Umayyad/Abbasid Caliphate are the Celtics, Seljuk are the Bucks, Jerusalem are the Timberwolves, Shah Armenia are the Bulls, Rassulid Yemen are the Knicks, Ilkhanate are the Lakers (again), Timurid are the Thunder, Ottoman are the Bucks (again), etc. All of a sudden, the entire class chanted "DEFENSE! DEFENSE!" as the Ottoman & Safavid Empires exchange lands left and right, and the next thing I knew, the class has ended.
It was a beautiful memory, and an amazing reminder of how first, Grade 7 days are amazing, and second, how amazing is life before the pandemic. I miss you all guys.

(No shade being thrown here towards anyone of course, it’s just a neat video with some notable trends)

People don't seem to understand that Islam is not exactly the problem. Most of the Balkans isn't islamic, yet it gets as shitty (or shittier) than the Middle East. The problem in the Middle East is instability and power-mongering. The area is rich in petrol, which is a double-edged blade because it both allows people there to be rich, but also makes some westerens desire it. The USA and Russia have competed for influence there for quite a while and still do. People's families die because of war, which makes them want to get revenge.
Islam *might* be part of the problem, maybe. But denying the other factors is absurd.

It was technicality. But practically the Ottomans had little to no control of Egypt. Actually the Ottomans were close to getting completely conquered by Egypt. But they survived thanks to British (and I think french) help
