My old 🏄♂️ stomping grounds from years ago, Sandshoes and Shelly - I’ve never seen so much sand on the “beach” at Shoes. I’ve retired now up to Ballina and pretty much swamped the surfboard for a fishing rod🎣. Great vid, with good info. What-a-bout your Dads bream: Stonker 👍🏻😀

Paul well someone has to film they just fish, but as you know its not hard to out fish me lol. hope all is well mate must catch up soon, say hi to all. Regards Scotty
Hey Scotty! Hope you, your dad and Gary are keeping well during these uncertain times - must be really tough with your chartering business, but we will get through this. Miss bread and butter videos like this a lot as they are very hard to find just like the classic rods you use. Had a 32 year old 8 wrap rod fully re-done by a rod builder and managed to hook , land and lift out a 4.5 kg brown groper (up a 2 metre ledge in flat conditions) from a tight little spot near Wonbarra on Anzac Day. Anyhow, stay well and tell your dad this is still one of my favourite videos. Cheers, Frank
This reminds me of my blackfish fishing days of the rocks at Patonga nsw in the mid 80’s. I still have my blackfish rod and use it for big bream up here in Gladstone Qld. Great video mate.
Thanks for the feed back yes great fishing all round, one of my favorites, thanks for feed back another great clip coming this Friday. Regards Scotty & Paul
Hey Scotty, Great video and definitely my style of fishing! Love your dad and hope to see more of him - the quiet achiever with a wealth of knowledge under his belt. Keep your rock fishing videos rolling!
Frank thats the plan mate Dad and I love fishing the rocks its good to be away from the Green Machine for the day, thanks for tuning in, catch up next week on The Hook and The Cook. Regards Scotty & Paul
Prawns Nippers both work well, Pillies also are a great bait my dad fish another area a week later and caught five good Bream all on Pillies, thanks for tuning in. Regards Scotty & Paul
What's that fishing pole reel called? The big reel that turns sideways. I've never seen one like that in the US. Does it have a drag system on it too? Where can I get one across the pond?
Tony light set up in this type of fishing is the trick and yes lifting the rod tip to keep the bait moving will also help and slow retrieve. good luck lets us know how you do on your next outing, thanks. Regards Scotty & Paul
Great video gentlemen, I was wondering if you could tell me any spots at Cronulla to catch luderick/blackfish,? Would gunamatta wharf be a good spot for this species??
Yes Gunamatta could be a good spot, ant area with a deep edge along structure will suit for Black Fish, good luck. Thanks for tuning in Regards Scotty & Paul.
Nice vid mate. Awesome getting to do what you love with your family. Having never used an Alvey reel, I was wondering what advantages they offer over a spinning reel for this style of fishing?
Yes great times and now for ever on you tube so thats great, I guess I grew up using the Alvey fishing the rocks & beach, great for this style of fishing, some like spinning reels I guess its a personal thing, if Iam spinning the rocks for Bonito with metal lures I would use a Shimano spinning reel. Thanks for tuning in and remember new clips every Friday. Regards Scotty & Paul
Nice video, like the way you fishing very enjoyable, only concern this kind of shore condition will cause snagging with bottom fishing, would appreciate your advice. Tks.
Never a problem fishing the right location with next to no weight thats the trick when fishing like this. Thanks for tuning in and remember new clips every Friday on The Hook and The Cook. Regards Scotty & Paul
I just finished fishing that locale for zip....was targeting drummer...what type of prawn were you using....again gentlemen fantastic little episode!!!!
Chris any Prawns will do mate, fishing light is the trick, and years of doing so I guess, love this style of fishing. thanks for tuning in and remember new clips every Friday. Regards Scotty & Paul
@@TheHookandTheCook Cheers mate I usually do ok....but that's how fishing goes...I usually try to pump nippers for an outing but couldn't find the time yesterday.. I was fishing cabbage...were you using frozen prawns...and how light we're you fishing...
Paul yes to many but never enough, next time your down lets do a session on the rocks, I have enough gear and Iam shore Dad will come along mate, good times. Film a session yesterday up the Basin again for Whiting thats coming soon, keeping the old boy fishing he loves it. Say hi to all mate.
Help please,,, i want to fish for seabass off the cliffs, they are usually 2,5kg... I have to reel them up a cliff 100 meters. I googled all day, 'strongest reel' etc tec. Can't get any results. Does anyone know which is the best fixed spool reel for reeling up fish out of water up cliffs? Ideally around 485 - 520grams to match my rod. Thank You in advance Guy's.
Damian no mate just fishing the flats and worms did the job for Gary, he landed about 20 fish in total on the day. 0 on lures only a few follows, strange as all was spot on. fishing I guess. Thanks for tuning in. Regards Scotty & Paul
G’day Scotty, awesome video as always, you never fail to make me jealous of your bountiful catches and fun. Just a query do you think you could validate the technique in this video: th-cam.com/video/mAdBPdTtwt0/w-d-xo.html because it looks really interesting but there’s only 1 video like it on TH-cam and I currently don’t have the time to try it out for myself so if you could do it and prove it works it would be super appreciated, especially by me. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing.
How far can you cast by using one ball sinker, it seems not easy to cast long distance by using my 9 feet rod.
For bait would you use prawns or pillies . Have you noticed any advantage in using cooked prawns
Prawns Nippers both work well, Pillies also are a great bait my dad fish another area a week later and caught five good Bream all on Pillies, thanks for tuning in.

Do you recommend letting the bait sit and wait or slowly retrieving when bait fishing for Bream?
Tony light set up in this type of fishing is the trick and yes lifting the rod tip to keep the bait moving will also help and slow retrieve.

An Alvey reel is pready much bullet proof the sand and salt water won't hurt it at all and very easy to maintain
You're welcome mate 😃👍👋👋
