Possibility I've seen is that a player in one of those hundred-ton mega-bloatboats takes a whammy like that in the back, knows what's up, and knows there's not a single cotton-pickin' thing they can do about it. Usually that's something that happens in combat more often than not, but I've been in that situation of taking a shot to my hindus, knowing what happened, and voluntarily accepting my fiery demise because A.) I can't stop it, and B.) if I get one more shot off I might take my target with me.

With a light mech, with only SRM 6s, That's the way it's gotta be. Your greatest asset is you're small, faster than most enemies, and maneuverable (as mechs go.) Heavy and Medium veteran pilot here, I can fully attest it is very easy to get locked into a battle and lose track of a light going over 130 even in the most open of fields. Even mechs that are well-suited to light-hunting can still have trouble dealing with this. This is why formation fighting is so heavily encouraged in the units I've dropped with especially units with very strong sensor suites to keep the lights painted. Sadly you often don't see good team players on that regard due to how the economy is skewed so heavily towards damage. If I can smoke out a light or keep him off the assaults I'll do what I can but it's a messy world in the realm of pug drops.
Yeah?
