I love how ethan hawke engaged in conversation in real life and in a movie, its quite the same. He's one of the actor who you always want to listen to during a conversation.
As to the aging, yeah, Ethan looks like he's smoked a few cigarettes, but he's still handsome. More to the point, he seems so AUTHENTIC. I love his passion and the way he engages with people. What a guy.
The dress is elegant, not overly-exposing parts of the body, so I think it adds to how beautiful she looks. I love it when actresses do that. It's a good message for women out there...if they can pick it up.
Not every actress can pull ti off though, that's why they often a´resort to other and more exposing outfits. But Keira has this elegance about her, which makes her beautiful in nature -A bit like Kate Beckinsale
Keira is gorgeous. Her chanel ads always get to me because she's so sexy in them but in the movies I've seen her in she's like the opposite - strong willed, independent but quiet types.
4:43 "Actually nobody really has that thick skin" -Keira "You have to have a thin skin and a lot of perseverance" -Ethan That just helped my expectations.
I really loved how open and honest they were taking about their insecurities. Too often we only see entertainers say things like "the negative stuff doesn't bother me" which I think is absolute bs. Of course criticism is going to bite a little bit. It was great to see these two admit to feeling the effects of hurtful things people have to say. Kudos to them and my respect for them only grows
Michelle Lee I so agree with this, actors are people, people feel, and especially given acting is all about connecting to emotions and being open and vulnerable, it's not shocking that perhaps some of the most sensitive and empathic people come from the acting business and all the negative stuff is gonna hurt, and sometimes it's hard to separate when it's actually constructive criticism or just plain hate - and really, it's one thing to hear negative things about your job, I mean, I think we can all understand that comes with the territory of any employment, but it's the personal attacks, the comments about appearance, that stuff gets the hardest - we as humans all have those insecurities, if only fans and viewers would realize that more
Early in his career, people suggested to Steve Buscemi to get his teeth straightened a bit. He basically said, hell no. Imperfections gives them character. It makes them real.
Here's the thing you have to understand about Ethan, he's an actual 90's intellectual. And there are very few and far between of those now because a good deal of them either ODed or committed suicide. So the few surviving ones we have left will engage you on every level of conversation as only they can. And if you ever wonder what that looks like watch the sunrise to sunset movies.
@@misnoma you'd have to go through a slew of interviews to find them, but you can easily spot them, they're the ones that aren't hammered in every interview and always trying to have a philosophical conversation.
I agree that Ethan is not being pretentious when he refers to art and artists. He for real loves art and other artists. Americans have always been notoriously anti-intellectual --- not our best quality. Also I think people still confuse the very young Ethan in Reality Bites with who he rally is. And the guy loves to talk and ask questions in conversation. Wish more men did.
Ethan Hawke is consistently brilliant, the Before Trilogy being among the best films ever made. Watching him converse here I can see why his performance is so good, Jesse is him!
Help!! I’m in a rabbit hole of watching Ethan Hawke speaking candidly in interviews and he’s so interesting and wise I can’t stop. Started with the Unwatchables podcast about “Dead Poets Society”...then Conan and now this. (THOUGHT. If I had a career as an actor I’d go the Ethan Hawke route.) Ok, back to the wise EH and the rabbit hole...
Ethan Hawke is kind of the perfect idea of an Actor in comparison to an actor driven by fame, tabloids and celebrity. Like, it's all subjective on what route an actor goes but I find myself deeply engaged by actors who are driven by the creativity and art involved within storytelling and acting. Constant exploration and curiosity. Actors like Ethan, Jonathan Majors, Paul Mescal, Viola Davis, Tom Hiddleston, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance or Saoirse Ronan for example
Ethan is such a cool guy. He always sounds pretentious to many people, but I see a truly experienced actor who has learned his craft. I don't see pretentiousness.
He is very well read and incredibly intellectual. I had seen a lot of his interviews and had met a few very intellectual people - they all have a lot in common. You can't fake intellect and the ability to think vertically and not just horizontally.
I'm literally watching all of these interviews as they pop up on my feed. I haven't seen all the movies that are talked about in the ones I've watched so far but I still love the actors in them.
wow i would not have minded if this took hours. I mean normally i am bored after 5 minutes but these two captivate me in a way that makes me loose sense of time.
tim, here's a lesson about ego in life. and that is, if you keep hearing people agree on the same thing, and you are the only person making your own point against it, it's time to have a grain of actual humility and listen to what they're saying. the fact is that this clip was mastered too low. it plays at a lower volume than 98% of what is on youtube, and some laptops can't even get loud enough to hear it well. so what is your investment in insisting that the opposite is true? someone dropped the ball, and didn't master the audio of the file properly, at least to public standard. at least consider that you may be wrong. geeeez. it isn't that hard, i promise.
+Matthew Vargas This is 10 minutes for fuck sake I'm sure there was more and you're seeing a distortion of the truth, but how cares what he had to say was great. I think she did exactly the right thing...in these 10 minutes being as how *she* asked the damn question and he answered it. Did you want her to answer her questions?
Keira made this work. She's so polite, intelligent and generous that she was able to balance Ethan's outrageous rants. I wanted to know more about The Imitation Game.
I would actually read all the reviews if I were an actor, the good ones would make me feel good about the work I had put in and the bad ones would just give me motivation. Just to know that you can't please all of the people all of the time, gives you an expectation of bad reviews on good work. Indeed some people actually get pleasure out of telling you what was bad about certain things, as in reality they are insecure about themselves and to trying to make you feel bad, somehow makes them feel better.
Que buen programa poner a actores de diferentes etapas generacionales , pensar que Ethan en los 90's era muy lindo pero la etapa adulta le resto belleza física .
Great insight comes from this show. This has become the absolute best way for others to actually understand what actors are going through on a daily basis and what make's them get to there "Character" In place. Elements which can't be taught are being learned here.
BigDeanoSyd ethan hawke has always been a talkative one, he's a writer, they speak, you can always find those kind of people, they will talk your ear off given the chance to express - he's not trying hard or affected, he's just one of those speaker types
hes just like that he has a rhythm to the way he talks very songlike its almost as if his cadence and delivery is onomatopoeic with what he is saying, these little metaphors unfurling ideas which is hilarious with kiera because shes so sweet yet acerbic quite frank which makes sense because she's very beautiful so she kind of counteracts that with earthiness because she's in a strange business plus the british sensibilities you know. He is not perfect hes just a romantic about realism.
at the answer of the first question the video stopped right after the "is". And I didn't realize it. I thought if he really has to think about the answer for so long time

+lamete kay Been in love with him since Explorers.
lamete kay couldn’t agree more
I always love hearing Keira talk. Her intellect always astounds me.
Her intellect astounds you? Is this sarcasm?
lol
***** ahahahahahahahaha the intelligence level of your comment is seriously concerning, albeit comical at the same time.
leann nah. It’s just the accent and ability to speak.
I seems Americans think a posh English accent means you're some kind of intellectual. It couldn't be farther from the truth in most cases.
I was quite blown away by how quaint and soft-spoken Ethan Hawke is normally and how he can change the depth of his voice in an instant.
Ethan Hawke is always great in conversations.
They even made a trilogy movies about that.
Well, the conflict in the third one might have a word with that.
Keira looks absolutely stunning in this interview.
As to the aging, yeah, Ethan looks like he's smoked a few cigarettes, but he's still handsome. More to the point, he seems so AUTHENTIC. I love his passion and the way he engages with people. What a guy.
Keira Knightley always looks good but she looks especially beautiful here.
The dress is elegant, not overly-exposing parts of the body, so I think it adds to how beautiful she looks. I love it when actresses do that. It's a good message for women out there...if they can pick it up.

To me she’s the most beautiful woman alive
@@henryesj6242 Don't think I can agree with that, but she is beautiful though. There are so many beautiful women on TV, on the internet, in real life.
Keira is the most beautiful woman on the planet.
Jessica Chastain has something to say about that! But Keira is definitely up there!
Definitely Keira. Not only beautiful but she always knows what she's talking about. Charming.
hahahaha, please tell me you're kidding. she's horrible with that smile and that jaw.
Keira is gorgeous. Her chanel ads always get to me because she's so sexy in them but in the movies I've seen her in she's like the opposite - strong willed, independent but quiet types.
MadameHenry14 No one's perfect, she's very attractive
Ethan's story about the reviews is spot on. When it's good, you tricked them, when it's bad, they know, they saw through you. Can relate so hard.
gerith apologies for my ignorant reply. But are you an actor/actress by any chance?
That's just fear. It doesn't necessarily mean it's true ... Just scroll up and down the comments section here and you get a pretty definite answer.

His teeth give him character, there's nothing memorable about perfection.
Both of them
That's a lovely last phrase. It definitely applies to people. In movies, however, a perfect one would be memorable.
wabi sabi
Early in his career, people suggested to Steve Buscemi to get his teeth straightened a bit. He basically said, hell no.
Imperfections gives them character. It makes them real.
@@reallics You beat me to it. That was my exact thought.
Saying this as a straight man, Ethan Hawke is dreamy. I always fall for him instead of the women in his movies.

Yeah I just saw this and your sunrise to sunset movies comment got me interested, are u by chance mentioning the before trilogy?
Two of the very best we have in the world of cinema. Thoughtful, well-spoken and interesting
Ethan and Kiera did a great job honestly revealing themselves as working artists.
Gotta love Ethan Hawke. And these two have really good chemistry together.
I've always found keira knightly beautiful. She just gets better and better with age.
These should be longer. At least an hour. I'm sure Keira and Hawke would've had a more thoughtful discussion if they weren't pressed for time.

Ethan is one of my favorite actors and I love watching his interviews. Kiera is a spectacularly beautiful woman inside and out.
This interview/conversation was simply brilliant.
I really like him...Its weird that he didn't got an Oscar for acting or writing...
