AHHH! this was my question! Thank you so much for taking my question during the live Q&A! I posted to pastor Mike's live Q&A , and thought it wasn't picked. Little did I know that he would use my question as an opening question 😮 I'm so thankful for both of your answers, from two of my favorite bible teachers!! 🎉🎉 Both answers helped me, it's important to know that the sacrifice didn't happen, so there was no act of evil done, but the sacrifice was done in Abraham's heart and mind, that he was fully committed to follow God's direction. And also God was able to use this as a way to reveal himself to Abraham and Israel later, that he's different from the false gods around. I'm so grateful and blessed by both of you taking the time to answer my question!

Guzik’s answer was my preferred answer; clear and succinct for those who study the Bible. Pastor Winger’s answer was comprehensive, to assist those new to Bible study, even explaining the parallel to Jesus’ death. BOTH WERE EXCELLENT ANSWERS.

I believe your answer was more reliable and in my heart made sense. I did not like mikes or whomever the other person was. I will never listen to him based on his answer to this question it seemed he really couldn’t answer the question and should have said so. No we might have people thinking God can speak to you to do some things that are horrible. Because some of the things God demanded of some men in the Bible had good reasons and God is good and loving but also righteous and fair. Thank you David I listen to you all the time but I seek Gods Word to make sure you are knowledgeable in he scripture.

I’m so glad that you’re of the same spirit as Mike Winger.
You both emulate a balance view of the scriptures which is RARE these days.
Either one is hyper Charismatic or hyper Reformed, but there’s a place for “both” and I believe you both display the beauty of both.
Thank you for your consistency to the work of the Lord. Your commentary is a must read for me when studying to teach the word.

Winger took the first stance which is mine- what God required was not sinful
Also the heart of the person asking the question
    a believer, non-believer, asking for a friend
As a believer we understand God’s way is perfect. God cannot and will not do wrong.
“ as for God his way is perfect “
    Psalm 18:30.

Meanwhile, Pastor Mike’s response (which by the way is in substance, the same as yours) is longer by providing proof texts as support. This made it more crystal clear to me. Also, the example of the running the red light was so relatable!

I respect you both and enjoy listening to both. Both answers are solid. Mike has a "fuller" answer which seems to hit the points I believe need to be understood. At the end of the day, God cannot sin or do evil. Period. If He does it, it is not sin. Not because of His power alone, or even by His authority as Creator, but because He is the very definition of Right and Good. Apart from Him we have no definition of right and wrong.

    Hi family,
It’s a joy to hear both speak, you are amazing, powerful Bible teachers. I love that your answer highlights the obedience side of the interaction which is the point of that text. On the other hand the other details from Mike’s answers are very important when it comes to teaching about hearing the voice of God. Those lessons will help prevent inappropriate behaviours that some people would have in the name of God’s instruction. I’m grateful for your great work. In one word: both answers are complementary. Blessings

Personally for me, reading the word for many years, David's explanation was to the point. I appreciate that the "God looks at the heart" part. Maybe for newer Christians, Mike walked it through in a different way so they could understand. We must remember that we can never know all the thoughts of God with our "puny" little minds. However, Abraham showed GREAT FAITH and that how we are all to have. Thanx for the explanation, it helps me if someone were to approach me with that question.

In terms of hand gestures, it is a tie. Apples & oranges for the rest. David gets points with the general Christian audience looking for a clear concise answer. David’s answer helped explain the “what” and got right to the point, Mike’s answer helped to explain “why”. I understand immediately when David said Abraham obeyed in his heart, and Mike’s explanation with the example of the cop waving you through a red light added insight.

I think it's a difference of audience. In all of David's Q&As, he answers questions that inform us on our Christian walk or, for unbelievers, he assures them of God's goodness. In all of Mike's Q&As, he gives Christians a way to answer unbelievers' questions, and then demonstrates it for us by addressing unbelievers (including scoffers) directly and giving them a reasoned argument. I listen to both David Guzik and Mike Winger and learn a lot from them.

Time frame 17:17 is what sums it up where Mike talks about this a foreshadowing of Jesus's sacrifice. God provided the sacrifice.❤

I felt that Mike’s answer was the answer that rang true for me.

I think David Guzik’s answer was good but I did appreciate Mike’s a bit more because as it’s often a question I’ve asked myself, his answer more thoroughly ‘unpacked’ and ‘expanded’ this situation.

Thank you very much for providing this video comparing the answers.
Both answers were in agreement with what we know from the Bible.
I had never had the privilege of watching Mike's videos. My first time, and I like him.
I really liked the comparisons Mike made between Abraham' son and God' son. That explanation was awesome.
I like what David said, "I only want the heart sacrificie of Issac" Perfect answer.

Both excellent answers, from different angles. I wouldn't say one is better. I'd say they are both very helpful.

I go with David ... it all about the heart of faith.. Abraham believed God ... he knew some how some way if he did sacrifice Issac him and the boy was coming back down off the mountain alive.

Both are great answers and are very helpful. But I do like Pastor Guzik's the best.

I appreciate both of your so much, but definitely pastor David for me. Because he did it off the cuff. Mike used his as the prepared opening, so he had time to think about it. Though definitely good to hear both!

Mike definitely more in depth. I lean more toward David in that God did intend for Abraham to do it. But Mike highlighted God’s sovereignty.

Mike definitely provided a multi-level answer but I also appreciated your answer of how God knows our heart decisions and that matters. Just like in the NT Jesus points out that you don’t have to do the deed to be guilty of the deed (lust=adultery or anger w/o cause=guilty of judgement like murder).
