As a few others have pointed out, UAD (Or Ableton) could really learn from this in terms of making integrations to other audio interface softwares easy within DAWs. Great work!
Very impressive! I don't have any UAD DSP system, so this isn't for me, but it's a no-brainer for Apollo+Ableton users, a huge workflow upgrade over the standard software package. UA should commission you to refine this further and build m4l wrappers for all the UAD plugins.
@@johnny_blz No, It's working because the device communicates with the UAD Console app. The device can get/set/request any information that's going on in the UAD application. So I basically gathered (almost) everything that it does, and made it controllable directly from Live.
Incredible. I was already jaw-dropped at the point you said ‘ok that’s the straightforward stuff now it gets interesting …’ lol gonna take me a while to even process the possibilities here. My workflow is all about ableton and Apollo so massive ❤ to you.
Haha Thank you! : ) I hope you're gonna use it a lot! And the best part: it's only the first release! Tomorrow I'll drop 1.1 with a lot of user request features ( option to: don't copy plugins when you select another channel, link the record arm button to the channel's mute button.. things like that. Plus I added meter sections both for the channel and for the sends. so you can actually see the volume like in the console : ) ) I have plans to implement a lot of cool stuff in the future! : )
@@homelandelisabeth7090 hey again - have downloaded and doing some initial tests - just wanted to let you know it's working well with my Softube Console 1 fader unit in Apollo Mode. what's the best way to contact you with feature suggestions / test findings etc (if useful!)?
@@synthshed Hell yeah! That sounds amazing! : ) I don't have a console one so I didn't had the chance to test it. (but since everything communicates with everything it's not surprising that it works) You can write me to elisabethhomeland@gmail.com And of course it's useful, I'm eager for suggestions! : )
you are a fucking beast these companies should be hiring you to consult for them and build devices for them they are sleeping at the wheel thank you genius
Glad you like it! : ) No it's only the monitor and the input source part. I think it makes more sense to keep the solo/mute functions separately for the console channels and for the Live track. For example sometimes you just want to mute the channel from console so you don't hear your Mic, but you want to hear what's going on the track. : )
I'm not familiar with it so I'm not sure. I'm guessing that it'll work like every other built in Live device and M4L device with it. So if you can access the parameters for those you can access the Parameters of GroundControl too. : ) In the worst case you can just simply MIDI map the controls of the device.
Wow, this is something I've always needed, congratulations! I have two questions: does changing the Tempo (bpm) on each instance affects the other? Is there a way (or in a future project) to load different plugin comibations in an effect rack, so you can use this on Session View and change the plugin combination between scenes using chain selector?
Thank you! I'm Glad you like it! : ) I don't show it on the video, but the Console follows the Live Set's tempo. (Even the tempo automations) For your second question: it wouldn't work that way because you can only have one Channel device on one track. (for now) But I plan to integrate a "variations" feature like that in the future! : )
Unbelievable work man so impressive. I've been looking for a device with the photo recall. is there any chance you could make that as a separate device too?
Thank you! : ) I don't have any RME interfaces at the moment, and I don't know if it's possible with them or not. (It depends on how the totalmix software communicates with the interface.) Maybe in the future at some point. But now I'll keep focusing on this one. : )
@@homelandelisabeth7090 If you are interested in the future i can give you all the info i found out when i wrote a little python tool to midi map the totalmix software. its all based on Mackie Control.
@@andreaseinsiedler3538 This device communicates with the UAD console using TCP it has a lot more flexibility then Mackie. Doing the same tight integration using Mackie would be nearly impossible.
Yes, absolutely! : ) You just map the reverb/delay parameters to one of the 8 quick control parameters, then you can automate/modulate it, or control it with MIDI There's two things to keep in mind though: 1: The track needs to be selected when the automation happens. Or you can enable the "Enable Output if not selected" option in the device, but I would be careful with that option if you plan to use it for automation. ( It meant for MIDI remote control) But I can also send you a device that you can also automate to select different tracks during the song. 2: As I said you can have different plugins on the channel on different tracks, and the device will recall them automatically. So you can not only automate certain parameters, but you can even recall complete "states". But If you plan to use it in Live situations I recommend to only switch between tracks (where you have the device) where you use the same plugins on the channel during the song. Otherwise the console will mute the output for a second while it loads/removes the plugins. You can of course switch to another track with different plugins between songs to achieve a completely different sound. : ) I plan to add more Live performance tools to this pack in the future. (for example a device that works like the quick parameters page, but it lets you automate any plugin parameter on any channel)
I know 50$ is not cheap, but If you count in that: I plan to support it for a long time with free updates (like for all my devices), I have to do the customer support, it took almost a whole year to create this first version. and there are simple compressors out there that costs 200 bucks. I think it's fairly priced.
