Bro it’s the same for me… You got a discord or anything? I wanna ask you how it’s going and what you’re doing to get better I just got all the equipment
I am helping our Home Team here in Bavaria, Germany(Hof Jokers) build up a Flag Team to get younger players interested in Football, so its great to see some Training plans since I have been out of High School for 4o years, yeah I am 60 *g*
I see alot of folks incorporating a softball or yoga ball at the end of these sprints to simulate a tackle. Whats your opinion? or do you have your own interpretation as something similar?
I definitely think a yoga ball is a great way to help a linebacker track and create pursuit angles. A softball or tennis ball to catch at the end is good to implore a player to accelerate faster off of a drill. I’d recommend using a yoga ball for sure for the tackling aspect
I am a High School football coach and In the 1st drill, I noticed the quick "hop/read step". What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using that step?
In my opinion, that "read step" is mostly a step that will position a linebacker to get in his drop. A linebacker reads run or pass with his eyes, looking at the guard. That first step is mostly going to depend on what the linebacker sees in my view, so it shouldn't be rehearsed the same every time. If the guard shows run the step should be more forward to get him toward the backfield. And if the guard shows pass, that first step should set up his zone or man drop. Advantages of having a set "read step": Emphasizing eyes on the linemen or more specifically the guard. Having a routine/rhythm when the ball is snapped Disadvantages: Linebacker could be delayed in his drop by having an obligatory read step forward when it's a pass. First step won't always be forward. This is all my educated opinion and how I would coach a linebacker on his footwork at the snap of the ball. Would love to know your thoughts as well because I'm still learning and building my knowledge too.
Good shit, I was told I was too little and slow to play linebacker. I have until August and I plan on proving them wrong.
Prove them wrong! Go get that work bro
