SLY WAS MY NEIGHBOR. I LISTENED TO THEIR REHEARSALS SITTIN ON THE CURB AT DESOTO & URBANO DRIVE IN S.F. THE REHEARSALS WERE MORE DOPE THAN THEIR CONCERTS. THE REASON THEY WERE SO FUNKY WAS BECAUSE THEIR GUITAR PLAYER, FREDDIE, WAS DIFFERENT. HE PLAYED LICKS THAT HAD NEVER BEEN PLAYED BEFORE. LATER IN LIFE, HE CAME TO MY STUDIO WITH A FRIEND ROLAND TERRY, AND PLAYED SOMETHING THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD IN MY LIFE: A FUNKY BASS LINE, RHYTHM, AND A LEAD LINE.... SIMULTANEOUSLY. FREDDIE STONE WAS ONE OF A KIND🎸

@@mileqjameel8166 No...that was a few years later. Saw that tour in NYC at Madison Square Garden.
SLY married Kathy Silva, a future BRIDES OF DR FUNKENSTEIN, at the show. Almost sadly EWF and EDDIE KENDRICKS were better than S&tFS. It was my third concert by the band. The performance just wasn't OUT THERE. Saw band 2x more, each performance less engrossing or exhilarating than the previous. But I've been a fan for over five decades. When SLY slips the mortal coil I will cry for at least an hour.

Larry Graham couldn't tolerate the flagrant drug use and left the band, and in my opinion, that signaled the beginning of the end for S&FS. It's a shame that they let dope wreck their whole scene, but that was the 70's, what can I say? It's hard to believe that Sly is now 80yrs old, but the memories he gave us will last forever. Thank you and I agree it is “awesome” what’s also “Awesome” is that I found the original films from the filmmakers family and I exclusively represent the rights to this footage. It’s “awesome” that I paid thousands of dollars to get the 30 minute show transferred in 2K so that it would look amazing. It’s also really “awesome” that I decided to share something for free and it’s “awesome” that my watermark is on the footage so someone can’t steal the footage and broadcast it, Now that’s really “awesome”
Glad after seeing such amazing footage that the best comment you could come up with is to complain about a watermark for footage you get to watch for free.

SLY sounds exhausted. 2x he blew lyrics during STAND; however, I swear band channels LOUIS ARMSTRONG and THE HOT FIVE and THE HOT SEVEN. When I first heard recordings of the two ARMSTRONG bands, prompted by relationship with a niece of LIL HARDIN, I was thunderstruck! ARMSTRONG's bands were funky, the blues-derived incantation of rock as opposed to rock n roll.
This band is indeed the all-time best American popular music band. THE ROLLING STONES are the best from England. BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS take the title in the remainder of the english-speaking planet.
