20:37 This is actually the old station for both the mainline to Padang Besar & the branch line to Tumpat before the arrival of the ETS to Gemas. Now both lines operate from the same station, with the train services serving the branch line operating from platforms 1 & 2 (mainly using the blue trains like the one you see at 21:47), & those serving the mainline like the ETS serving Platforms 3-6. 20:59 you are actually lucky! 😮 This train model is usually in use for the Business & Platinum Class ETS services, first manufactured in 2018. The usual trains for this service are manufactured in 2014. I guess the actual train had issues, they couldnt find a train replacement on time.😂
TQ for sharing... very informative. Did u book/buy the tickets prior.. online... you must have had to plan your journey to fit in with the different schedules of the different trains... that wld be a lot of planning...
Yes bought them well in advance (apart from the Padang Besar to Hat Yai shuttle) cos I knew when the concert was in Singapore. The important one I really wanted to get was train 32 (Hat Yai to BKK) and the others fitted in before that.
The locomotives on your Shuttle Tebrau ride in JB and the ES44 to Gemas are indeed very old, with the red colored locomotive manufactured in 1987. The one that hauled your shuttle tebrau was manufactured in 2002 as part of the 2nd batch of the same model first manufactured in 1990 (one of them at 13:23). But they are not the noisiest actually. The noisiest ones are actually the Power Generator carriage, which is the carriage directly hehind the red locomotive. Combine these 2 together and this is what you get. 🤣
Yes that one was very loud at Gemas! Thailand's locos are even older - from the 60s onwards although the last one (train 32) was hauled by a modern QSY.
Great vlog mate, nice to see you back posting again 👍

Much more interestung and far more comfortable than my mini bus journey from Singapore to BKK back in 96, that cost S$10

Good video, however you never mention cost !. How much did this trip cost you.
What are the visa requirements?
what was the cost breakdown for each train? would love that information please
Woodlands - JB Sentral = MYR17
JB Sentral - Gemas = MYR21
Gemas - Padang Besar = MYR100
Padang Besar - Hat Yai = 50 Baht
Hat Yai - Bangkok (1st class lower sleeper) = 1790 baht
But please look on both SRT & KTMB websites as prices change.
How to book the train services from Singapore to Bangkok by direct train?. How much it cost?.
No direct train. Book Malaysia & Thai trains online separately - follow links in description. Cannot book train 950 online. Just turn up at station.
