Anyone with an ounce of critical thinking who's been raised outside of the public education system can see just how watered down and irrelevant the word has been rendered. This is the exact kind of generalization and division that Paws spoke against. A woman will gain nothing by painting men with negative generalizations, and similarly a man will gain nothing by painting women with negative generalizations. Not all women (or even a majority) have been shouting "we don't need no man". A healthy society is where most men understand they need women, and women understand that they still need men. Ignore voices which seek to divide and turn things into a gender war, and instead look to voices that seek to unify and reach across the isle.

Saw a video a while back asking "why are men having troubles or avoid approaching women these days?" and proceeds to list the following arguments,
If he compliments your looks, it's sexual harassment. If he stays quiet, it´s male indifference.
If he buys you flowers, he's after something. If he doesn't, he's not thoughtful.
If he's proud of his achievements, he's full of himself. If he isn't, he's not ambitious.
If he works out, he's vain. If he doesn't, he's a slob.
If he puts a woman on a pedestal and tries to protect her, he's a chauvinist. If he stays at home and does housework, he's pansy.
If he let's himself be vulnerable, he's a wimp. If he doesn't, he's insensitive.
If he pursues you, he's stalking. If he doesn't, he lacks self-confidence.
In short, there´s no right option. Only wrong.
I hope the day comes when the "it us versus them" gender battle becomes a "It's us, humanity, against the unknown future" adventure.

So, something worth clarifying. When Shoe says "A man will crawl through broken glass for a purpose" it isnt about being a breadwinner, a provider, having a family it isnt about any of those specific purposes, but they do want to feel like they have some kind of purpose.
and sometimes that purpose is as small as a hobby they enjoy, be it gaming or being a massive warhammer nerd or making weird stuff in their garage by welding random objects together. Just existing tends to really fuck someone up for extended periods of time, and on average, men more so.
Ive seen men stay in toxic situations, professionally, romantically, privately all because the other party helps them have a purpose, no matter how petty. Hell. most armies recruitment method primarily targets someone 'seeking a purpose
being a house-husband or live in maid is still a purpose, and even though its not 'traditional' it still takes care of the fundamental need to be needed.
and there are outliers, and exceptions, though often those ones have more given up on a purpose than just dont want one.

    • @danielk.english6004

as a male, yes. it's not necessary about making a family. it's about having a community wherein you can fulfill a role. be it joining the military, or having a hobby and the related community. making a family happens to fulfill that criteria as well.

If you want good men, you need to be interested in things that affect them.

@@pawsvtuber The point she was making was that via the history of human beings on planet earth, life 50,000+ years ago was a basic game of survival. Hunt, eat, protect. Gender roles were as basic as other animals on the planet, males gather food and protect, females have and raise babies. This concept is not only unknown to people these days but the mere utterance of it triggers people. We are products of those times, those roles are now going away completely, if not gone completely. But 200 years of modern society doesn't remove the thousands of years of evolution where these things were programmed into us as a necessity. So people will still feel the need to do these things, mostly unconsciously. She is not saying that men need to be protectors and women stay in the kitchen. She is saying that in the context of men and women interacting, men still feel the need to do certain things. Unfortunately men are more often being told that women do not need them anymore, which has led to this situation. (I am simply talking in general terms about billions of males interacting with billions of females, not a specific gender dynamic that you or other people might be more familiar with)

I was almost cutting myself when I called my aunt and tell her about the ex, and she told me that I should focus on the University. Do they think Germany suddenly became Nazi Germany out of nowhere? Or did the demonization and isolation from the world after the 1st world war pushed them to demand respect, even at the cost of their humanity and other lives?

@noirhelios Unrest in the inner cities is increasing in the US, as is drug traffic, illegal immigration, and political polarization. By and large (and media will never report on it), the vast majority of shootings are in the big cities, where people see each other every day.
When I lived out in the countryside, country folk shooting each other was nearly unheard of despite owning more guns on average than city residents. It's all about culture, and modern popular culture in the media tries to sell US city life as the way to be, with _every_ single problem such a life brings in tow.

@NewTypeDilemma01 its not the illegal immigration that is just the symptom like many otgers of the rich and corporations being too greedy and tilting the scale too much in their favor and squeezing the life out of the poor and the working class. People are cornered by out of control rent prices and healthcare costs that are completely divorced from reality. That leads to less opportunity and higher crime rates. It's not that there is a shortage of jobs at all, on the contrary, there is a glut of bad and dead-end jobs that don't even allow for subsistence living.

What's crazy is that even "men's day" pretty much gets zero attention. A couple of my coworkers talked about this and one of them expressed shock that there was even a men's day, despite also acknowledging he knew about women's day.
It's rather satisfying that the men's rating of women on okcupid follows a pretty standard bell curve.
My closest friends are absolutely online right now. But I really should make some close friends in person.
The reason people like to separate things into groups is, in my eyes, this: People want to feel a part of something, and they will naturally separate things based on differences. However, to say they are a part of the human race would be too broad of a "something" for most people. So, they separate people and themselves into groups. The more exclusionary they can make that group, the "better", because it can help them feel special. You have broad umbrellas that will then get smaller and smaller, until you have something pretty specific. Whenever people say they don't judge people, I immediately call bs.

It is definitely true that this content is primarily aimed at a US audience. The politics of the US is in such a divisive polarized state that groups, regardless of what the group is, are just used as game pieces to solidify the power of the ruling parties. Wanna know why it works that way? It starts with m and rhymes with honey. Ironically, in the US, boys are taught to be a way through the available role models, and then society tells them those are unacceptable in real life. It is, in fact, a systemic issue that needs to be addressed but it is so politicized that doing so isn’t actually possible. The right side screams about feminizing boys, and the left side refuses to acknowledge that not all masculinity is toxic. Both sides genralize all men as the same. There is a proper way to handle this, but it has to be done to better society, not to advance an agenda starting with children.

  • @DavidFrost9992
    @DavidFrost9992 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

"Why do you need a purpose, as a man, to exist? Why can't you just exist?" Paws, we'd love nothing more. This goes back to the beginning, though. Men have always had to provide something, somehow, to someone else - preferably a woman and her children for the purposes of advancing the species - or they had no value. Existing just because we are human is not something we get from society. As the abandonment of gender roles began with women, men have been resistant to dropping their own, and women have benefitted from that, but the younger generations are realizing that, having been told how useless and unnecessary we are, that we could just apply our own gender role to ourselves. So, men protect and provide for themselves. This looks like guys having just enough to be happy and seeking nothing greater (while women call this man a broke loser) and protecting himself from the things that can harm him like women who mean to use him for what he can provide, women who outright hate him, and political parties aiming to martial him against their opponents (because that still technically counts as a purpose).
To just... exist. It's a dream. Everyone wants something from us. The fewer people we can or choose to give things to, the less people like us. We also don't typically fight back (societal conditioning), and therefore make a good, safe place to lay the blame for everything. And we typically don't mind it, because we just accept that it is what it is. If we want a relationship, we know that we have to bring a broad selection of things to the table, which does line up with the ridiculous nonsense Tate is teaching. But he is using these sad men to make money, too, and doesn't seem to care. Where we get tripped up, though, is that women aren't allowed to be asked what they bring to the table. It feels unfair. And so men protect themselves and provide for themselves instead of for the both of them.
It's not all women that are this way. But there is a *lot* of confusion in them because men taking a step back is not what they expected. Men not engaging the games and the risks, leaving them to do it themselves is against the way they were taught that men should be. The hikikomori in Japan are able to live well on their own, but it's not good for them. I need regular encouragement to get out myself, and I recognize that my silence and evasion of the parts of society that are unkind to me is not helpful and creates a downward spiral. It's really easy to just presume nobody cares, and so there are a number of women who do want meaningful and reciprocal relationships that either keep the narrative that men aren't important and they are independent and strong at the ready, or their friends intervene and feed them bad info to make them abandon the guy or get him to shy away. Every female v-tuber I have seen react to Shoe has said, "not all women are like this!" and I believe them. But just like men don't wear a sign saying they are a monster, neither do women. It's tough, because the current state of things is polarizing women against each other, where one side blames men for all of everything and attack the women that side with them, and the other wants the first side to stop running the men out of society, not realizing that men are leaving society because it's the least problematic answer. It's the least trouble for everyone.

I'm American and i grew up similar to you, or at least how you described it. Early 2000s US never talked about any of this political nonsense or men v women or whatever. We were just chill and even adults, nobody really cared that much about all these "issues". But like, right around 2012-14 I'd say, it felt like my entire country got infiltrated by political activists and now all the news/online people do is blast us with divisionary content and make everything into an us vs them issue. Truly watching the downfall of my country in real time.

    • @walkermott1750
      @walkermott1750 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

Politics weren't as toxic pre-2001 because everyone talked about politics. There was no "oh my god I can't believe Gred is a x person", instead there was only "Yeah that is Greg, he's an x person but he's chill". There was a massive push starting around 2005 to make talking politics controversial which was very very very stupid. Normalize talking politics like humanity did for its entire existence and things will calm down. As of right now the only people talking politics are crazy people online and DC which is why things are so bad. Of course your county has bad roads, you don't even know who is in charge of fixing them. Of course your school is failing, you can't even name 2 board members on the BOE. Nobody knows anything anyone who does try to no gets called crazy for trying to learn
Also anytime you see a "controversial" issue just think "wait who decided this was a controversial opinion?". For a bold example, guns in the US. Over half the country owns at least 1 gun and over half of the states allow permitless carry but yet somehow despite the majority owning them and wanting easier access the entire topic is deemed "controversial". This can be applied to many topics. A universal opinion or fact can be deemed evil in a single 24 hours and a large swath of the population will just accept it as such, proven by 4chan with the "OK" meme. A symbol known and used by everyone suddenly became """"""controversial"""""" enough to get you fired or lose brand deals.
As I like to say, You can ignore politics but politics will not ignore you.

I live my whole life in the US and can say i never heard of any politics about race and sex until the right to marry the same gender was passed. Thinking about it i always felt the topic of race and sex became a heavy talked about issue in 2016 and it only intensified since then to an extreme level that makes me realizing how fast it was.
It felt like 1 year, everything was focused on issue abroad outside of the US, then suddenly everything became racial issues that i though was fixed with the civil rights movement in the 60s that it makes me feel like we are progressing backwards.
It just feels so weird and infuriating hearing all these things that are issues when to me at least, were fixed or isn't severe as they were decades ago.

A big problem with the US specifically is if we try to just talk about people as a general or whole we get accused of ignoring minority groups. That we're ignoring problems that specificallt target this group or that group. Its part of why plenty of guys here have decided to just unplug and disconnect from society. Sadly the mainstream institutions are so intent on things being mens fault or that we have it off better no matter what, that they won't listen to anything we say. Its a problem we are basically attacked for talking about and basically cannot solve.
As for the 'Patriarchy' bs, the people that constantly claim that we've benefited from this supposed system love to ignor that for so much of history it was a fraction of a precentage of men who had massive power while the rest of men were in just as bad place as women. And some people would argue a worst case because only men through most of history would be ordered off to die in war for the whims of the powerful few.

And there is such a negative outlook on anyone that is depressed or has any mental health issues (not even just men), that it feels genuinely pointless to open up too. People need to stop being awful to each other and show a little bit of care at all. Everyone is lonely at one point or another and has things eating them alive inside. This isn't an attack but I did agree with a lot you said until you started talking about "People" as what we should be watching. I do agree we all need to get better and take care of each other regardless of gender or anything. But when you start doing that in a post or a place where people are talking about 1 issue like men or women or whatever it dilutes the meaning. The main problem with mens issues is that men feel like they are invisible and no one cares about their issues or just complains when they are brought up, taking men out of the equation and saying all people need help in this sense just magnifies that. It adds to their isolation and makes them feel like no one cares or only cares when other things are added into it.
Again you aren't wrong, people need help but just like we need to talk on specific issues on certain groups we need to talk on Mens issues separately first too. I hope that makes sense through text.

I love how they hammer Peterson in the news report and then quote Vaush like he's more credible. I have my disagreements with Peterson, and he definitely gets weird on things. People can disagree with him on the trans movement, free speech, biblical interpretation, or any number of other issues. But the entire reason he's appealing to young men is the fact this is broader core message is, life is hard, but you have something to offer and the more you take responsibility for yourself and your immediate areas of influence, doing the best you can to approach it honestly, the more you can expand what you have the ability to accomplish. That you can be the kind of person people which they had in their lives if only you start simple and work your way up tonko to impactful things then there's no telling you might be capable of.
Meanwhile, the hammering on privilege and historical wrongs (usually very selectively chosen) is used to shame. Yes, privilege exists, though I would say it's pretty obvious it comes more from genetics and the circumstances you were raised in than factors like race or gender. Having decent parents and a community around you that values diligence and learning is probably 70% of it. But people shouldn't be shamed for having advantages, they should be encouraged to do what they can with those advantages for the good of the world.

And if it wasn't for men these women wouldn't have anything no phone no electricity and no car and no makeup no perfume no job no air conditioning no medicine and no house nothing
Hell I need men too because if it was up to me to make stuff we'd still be riding horses bareback and making wood tents or sleeping underneath trees and hunting with rocks and big ass sticks like an extremely brutal game of whack-a-mole 😂
But seriously at the end of the day we all need each other

Loneliness and not feeling like nobody wants you is a real and serious thing. people aren't taking it seriously enough, loneliness can also lead to depression and that can then lead to even worser things. People saying all these insensitive things doesn't help anybody and isn't the solution.

It’s always nice to hear support from people after watching this “Origin of the Vtubers” video (alternate title for this video) to remind us that there is hope and understanding out there, especially from a fluffy person such as yourself. For others at least since my self esteem is so low it’s in the negatives and going to take a lot time to fix that mess. But the big problem causing it is the Us VS Them mentality that I dislike so much that I don’t even like PvP games because of it. And this is the video that made me start saying “All statements that include everyone in a group, does NOT include everyone in that group, This statement included”

As a guy I have simply given up in totality trying to relate to women. I have a nice job lined up and after hitting the gym I am stronger than I ever have been. By cutting out women I can feel fulfilled in everything else. Trying to chase after them causes nothing but grief. I have never met such a heartless group of people. Talking to a random guy off the street I can form a stronger bond than throwing myself at any girl. I will never understand how women can be so evil for no apparent reason.

Prior to the 80's, women were mainly in part time jobs. Following the 80's, they became full time workers. At the time, there was a discussion as to how flooding the market with additional labour would affect pay. It used to be possible for a household to survive off a single income as wages were higher due to demand, now this is not the case. We have had to introduce childcare payments from the government to enable both the man and woman to work - effectively a state subsidised nanny service. Babies go into childcare from the age of 1.
The only benefitiary to all of these changes have been the companies. It is not a surprise that we have ultra rich people in the world. Cheaper labour and a higher workforce = more productivity and profit. To hell with the social fallout.

Before the 80's women barely had any rights, and before the 1900's they weren't even considered humans, they were just the possessions of their husbands or father

@@user-us1r-us2r-us3r feminist nonsense. women have always been treated better than men in every way. even after all of the feminist rules have been put into place, they are still treated better under the law.
you are taking the example of a minority of people that were mistreated by a minority of men and tarring the entire human race with that brush. criminals still exist today you know, but not eveyone is a criminal.

One of the reasons why I stopped watching ShoeOnHead. It's easier to ignore everyone hating the fact I've got dangly bits and seeming to think that because I'm male I'm a plague.
This is why I don't bother. I go to work, I go fish, I camp, and I keep to myself. Hurts less.
