Just a fun fact, the way my family did it (We are Tongan) is we would just climb it without the hibiscus bark, but we did later because it makes it a LOT easier. We would also climb up to the very top, and just kick the coconuts off then climb back down. Love this, reminds me of home.

Well I clearly know how tough is it. When I was 15 I climb a coconut tree slightly taller than this and when I am top I could barely pluck a coconut then immediately I hug the tree and slide down slowly because I was extremely tired and sweaty and has the threat of slipping.
I tried this technique it worked but it was physically the hardest thing I have ever done being super fit my entire body was totally dead for days after ... And the coconut tree is very abrasive I found duck tape around the arches of the feet and forearms help you stick to the tree better and makes it easier to stay up there and work on getting coconuts before getting tired and needing to slide back down for rest.
You are AWESOME! 👏😁When I was a kid living in Hollywood, FL, the coconut tree in our front yard had a deep curve in the trunk, making it pretty easy for us kids to climb it. We'd bust open our coconuts by standing in the street (while no cars passed) like we were about to play dodgeball. We'd throw the coconut down on the pavement as hard as we could towards the kids across from us, then they'd throw it back. We'd keep throwing it on the ground until the outer shell was beat up and easy to pull off. After we pulled the husk off, my mom would poke a hole in the soft eye and pour the coconut water in a glass. Then we'd wack the coconut into pieces with a hammer and eat the fresh coconut meat out of the shell! Our method took a lot longer than yours, but we had fun! I sure miss living in the coastal city of Hollywood, and I surely miss fresh coconut! In western countries, you go to the fridge and grab a coca cola.
In Samoa, you climb the nearest coconut tree, break a coconut using one hand and take a good long drink.
