    Thanks for making the video David! I am ordering my Uberti 20" today in a .357 and I am looking forward to it. There was a moment in your video when you were rapid firing the .38's and you were grinning ear to ear. That speaks volume to the experience of shooting the Uberti :)

      Hi Thomas, 3 Years later would you recommend the Uberti?

    • @thomaspmcdonough412
      @thomaspmcdonough412 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OldManYelllsAtCloud Yes and Yes. I ended up installing a short stroke kit, speed sight, progressive hammer spring, and a lighter trigger spring. Then I put on a leather butt pad. It was a lot of fun to work on and it shoots so well. It's dead on accurate, fun to shoot, and easily my favorite rifle in the arsenal.

    Nice looking and smooth cycling. This one will work much better for you than the Henry equivalent model in .357 would have. The Henry action is tailored to the .357, and sometimes 38 spl doesn't cycle smoothly. Not a jam up, but an annoying 'stutter'.

      @drdrake63  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robnord1 yeah my Henry Big Boy in .44 can’t hang with Uberti for speed - it’s not even close. But I love the Henry. Not all great lever guns need to be speed shooters to be great guns. From what I can tell Henry’s just don’t show up in CAS events. Maybe they will come out with a 1873 at some point?

    I'm thinking that, with the light recoil of 38 Special, even a round nose in the tube would be okay. What do you think?

    I'm looking at the uberti in .357 in the 24" barrel.. I have a Marlin 20" in 45 LC.
    So I wanted to try a little longer barrel for longer distances. I'm not a cowboy shooter, just a plinker the shoots a few blacktail out west..
    What do you think of the 24 " barrel ?

    I enjoyed your video. The Uberti 1873 in .38/.357 is the choice of most of the top cowboy action shooters and it's a great looking rifle that is fun and easy to shoot. You should check out a SASS match in your area. One comment on the revolvers-a "Colt pattern" single action revolver should not be carried with six rounds because the firing pin rests on the primer of the cartridge under the hammer. Some of the "Colt clones" have a transfer bar ignition and the Uberti Cattleman II has a retracting firing pin which are designed to make the revolver drop safe but most of the Uberti revolvers out there don't have this safety feature.
    Update: I saw in video comparing your revolvers that they are both "Cattleman II" with the retracting firing pin. You should be fine loading six if that is the case.

    I had an 1873 Uberti in .45 Colt. The rifle is heavy enough you don't feel recoil in any caliber.

      How was the quality? I'm thinking about getting one whenever I get stationed in California in a few months. I have a real Winchester 1873 but I don't want to take it with me. I'd rather leave it at home in Texas and have a replica made by another company while I'm there.

    • @drdrake63

      Ethan Larsen I like the short barrel. Very easy to maneuver and carry around. I personally don’t see any real advantage to the longer barrel other than increase site radius if you’re going to do a lot of long-distance shooting. But if that’s the case, do you really want to use 38 or 357?

    • @brtseif

      It’s just 4 inches longer. Not a great deal of weight added. The bonus of having the 24” is 4 more rounds...

      With .357 you can shoot .38 special, which is about half the price of .45 (at least in Canada). It also has very little recoil/noise if that matters to you

    How come everyone tries to shoot as fast as possible? Maybe it's for the youngsters, but this guy looks like he's ready for retirement.

    • @Engie_Boi
      @Engie_Boi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a so-called youngster, I believe it might be to showcase how fast a lever action firearm can fire, as well as showing off the shooter’s individual skill with that particular firearm.
      Although precision is important, I think that shooters with such a firearm might rapid fire for fun, or because they know that 10-13 rounds are enough to do some rapid fire and aimed shots.
      I hope this might clear things up :)
