dude I was thinking about buying a new bike to put a motor on but then I just realized you have the same bike I do, a GT Terra. Any tips or advice on anything that I'll be coming across?

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Well when I put my engine on the GT bike I had to put the buttom tube of the frame in a vise and clamped the tube a tad to make the engine sit flush. And I also had to put the exhaust in a vise, heated it with a torch and bent that too a little.cuz it was hitting my left pedal.but besides that everything fit perfect. Even the stock carburetor fit on perfect. If ur thinking of putting a performance carb make sure to push in the filter so it fits. If u don't smash the air filter in a bit it won't fit.

@@-ExperienceWithMe- would you recommend getting a new beach cruiser from Walmart or sticking with the GT?

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JamesPiccone I mean it's all up to u on that part. Do u like a more up right riding position or a slight bent over position? The cruiser will be more comfortable because of the up right position in long rides. Honestly because I like looking a bit cool cuz I'm a youth guy I went with a MTB. Plus it's not that bad with the GT if u have a spring seat on it. The one down side to buying a Walmart bike I guess would be the qaulity and the wheels most likely won't be spinning straight, the rear will most likely wobble a bit

The current build of mine just hit 400 yesterday. I have yet to encounter a single major issue with it that wasn't me being stupid, but did you ever figure out why yours is so slow? Mine will hit 38 with no problem on a 36t sprocket.

Copper-Brass congrats! mine can go faster than 30 but the bike doesn't like going that quick. It starts to vibrate too much. I just hit 1900 miles on mine last week.

For my first time I'd say 4-5 because I new nothing about engines. My very first build I got help. But my next 3 builds were a breeze because I new what to do and how the parts worked. This build isn't that difficult if ur handy dandy. Get someones help if u know someone.bU need to have a decent amount of tools. You'll need a vise and torch possibly for bending the exhaust a bit to make it fit. Honestly the hardest thing is putting the gear on the wheel believe it or not. It's mostly very time consuming. Look up videos on how to put it together and if you think it looks possible for u then go for it. PS make sure your bike frame is big enough to fit the engine. :) Thanks for watching

Got about 2000 on mine. She's slightly modified but reliable.
Always ever run 25:1 full synthetic high quality air cooled chainsaw oil.
Don't run the carb too lean.
Don't over rev during break in.
Keep the air filter relatively clean.

hey +xp with me. what spedometer app is that ? Also, your only filter is the stocking right ? You don't have another filter underneath the stocking right ? Also at what temp. do you stop the engine to let it cool down.

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Nick's Garage The app that I use is called DigiHud speedometer for Android's. Under the stocking I put a lawn mower filter that I got from Menards, I cut it to shape and put it under the stocking to give it extra filtration. And I pull over when the engine temperature is 380 F° cuz at 400 the engine starts to get to hot and will mess the cylinder up and rings. I let it rest for 5-8minutes to rest

Thanks xp with me for the tips :) I got a cheap 66cc engine kit from amazon. I didn't build it yet as I am waiting for a hub mounted gear to come in from amazon. I am afraid the stock gear mount kit will screw up my spokes.

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-

Nick's Garage well I'm mean I'm sure it will be fine depending on how good the rims are. I got 1800 miles on my bike with the stick mount and the spokes are fine. I think the problem is that some people tighten them way too much and bent the spokes

Have your bike brakes worn more?

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I apologise for responding late. To your question. Yes it's fairly easy to replace a inner tube on a bike.Theres tons of videos on TH-cam that show how to do it. And with higher speeds yes I've noticed that my rear tread has worn away quite a lot from the front tire. If you install hard tires they will last longer. And for the brakes I've also gone threw front and rear pads in 2000 miles. So with brakes that's not too bad. :) If you have any other questions I'm more than happy to answer any. Have you had any problems with chain coming off sprocket while riding? And exactly how tight should nuts and bolts be on that rag joint? That thing is a pain to put on. How often do you check them for tightness? Thanx.

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

theone2be33 Yea when I first started the chain was a pain. The chain needs about a half to a inch of play and make sure the chain is straight, I talk about that in my other motorized vid. Now that rag joint u need to make sure to take ur time on it and don't rush on it. Make sure it's on straight. The nuts need to be tightened EVENLY and nice and snug. Don't do it tight but just enough where its close to it. I check it every couple of months, the way I check them is I get a extend socket and put it on one side of the rag joint and turn a nut and if the nut is turning easily then it's time to retighten. U can also check by lifting ur rear end and pedaling and the sprocket should look a little out of whack.

And booklet says NOT to ride for more than 30 minutes during breakin period.

So im curious to know about front and rear tire wear. I bought 2 brand new goodyear knobby tires for my bike when i installed engine kit. Have about 35-40lbs of pressure in both which is recommended tire pressure. I've put 300 miles on bike so far. ( I use the same MPH App that you use. I love it!) My issue with tires is that the rear tire is wearing out faster than the front tire which is still practically like brand new. And rear tire is worn halfway down ( the center tread). I figured using max tire pressure would produce less drag from tires. Im only about 165lbs so dont think weight is an issue. What is your experience with tire wear? How many tires have you been through? I know you must be almost at 2000 miles by now. Thanx in advance. Sorry for being long winded. Lol

theone2be33 Yea that's kinda strange to be honest. I still have the stock tires on and the bike has 2000miles on it. My tires actually look pretty much the same barely any wear. Nice video and bike. The crappy aspects of the NT carb can easily be fixed with a dollar washer (fixes air leak) and a new filter. After those changes, I prefer it to the racing carb because it's such a simple design and easy to fine-tune.

  • @johnjriggsarchery2457

Changing the air flow by changing filters can also change the fuel/air ratio making re-jetting necessary. Replacing stock exhausts with freer flowing exhausts or expansion chambers can force re-jetting. It works out usually that if an engine is running badly the pilot jet is plugged. Main jets are bigger, and don't clog as easily. On very small engines, the pilot jets are really tiny. Signs of a pilot jet problems are bad idling or that mysterious condition that happens often... The engine only wants to run with the choke on. Keep in mind that carbs aren't mind readers: If you take the stock carb off and replace it, with an aftermarket carb you definitely may need to re-jet.

How's the vibration? Have they gotten better after so many miles? I've noticed a small decrease in vibes after break-in but I also took the cylinder off and smoothed out the ports a bit- I believe vibrations are caused by unbalanced cranks and gears misaligned though.

Cody Watson well at least for my build the vibration have gotten a bit worst but nothing serious. From when I bought it always vibrated a bit when I past 24mph and got worst when increased speed. I'm pretty sure it's a unbalanced crank like you said.

What grade of gas do you use? I use the 91 Octane. If I remember correctly I think I read it in the manual. A problem I have is the oil that comes out of the exhaust. I am trying to add an extension to the end of it to divert the oil away from the bicycle chain. I am still in the break in period and use 8 oz of oil per gallon. Soon I have to change to 6 OZ per gallon of gas. Would the oil drip from exhaust ever stop? Thanks in advance for your help and info.

alibaba66able yes 91 octane is fine but I use 87 octane it's cheaper and to be honest I can't tell the difference between 87 and 91. Hey what gas do you use like what mixture

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Jesse Raber I use normal gas at the gas station 87 octane. I use 4 ounces of 2 stroke oil in a gallon of gas. Then shake it real well then it's ready. That's only when ur done with break in. If your still breaking in ur engine then u need to use 8 ounces in a gallon.

    • @jesseraber5234
      @jesseraber5234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

How long do i have to break in

    • @jesseraber5234
      @jesseraber5234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

How many days does it take after you ordered

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Jesse Raber you have to break it in until you use 2Gallons of gas or do 300miles what ever comes first. When you break in the engine make sure not to go fast. Don't go faster than 15mph. Speed depends on what ur manual says if u get one. If u have any more questions please ask. And to ur question on how long it takes to get to ur home after ordering it, it took 5 days for me but it all depends on how they send it and if there's any shipping delays

You may know this but if not here you go. Go to a part store and buy an o2 sensor gasket for an 2002 toyota highlander. It dam near a perfect match for your exhaust port and instead of paper they are metal. The last exhaust gasket you will ever buy. The two bolt holes are just slightly off but run a drill threw the holes in the gasket one time n your good. If you type in no more exhaust manifold leaks you will find a vidio of it.

How is that spark plug supposed to go on

    • @-ExperienceWithMe-
      @-ExperienceWithMe-  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Jose Dachtler oh you must be talking about the top of the engine correct? The spark plug screws on the head of the engine.then u take the CDI wire and plug it on top of the spark plug. Is that what you're asking?

    • @josedachtler65
      @josedachtler65 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the inside?

Grant Solder My bike has a 80cc engine but all 80cc engine are really 66cc there's no such thing as a 80cc motorized engine, even tho they market as a 80cc. As far as i know they have 49cc,66cc aka 80cc 2 stroke engines on the market. they also have a 4 stroke as well.

A smaller tire diameter will make the engine need to rev higher for a given speed vs a taller tire. That is why a lower tooth sprocket will slow the engine. It's all math.
