I agree 100%. The game has so many thematic touches based on the movie. I was with you on "do we really need a game based on Rear Window" but I love it! So great!
Bought this recently too and was hesitant as I always am with a Prospero/Funko title. But found it on sale for $8 so I figured "Why not?". Wow! Was I surprised. So simple, but so much fun. Got 6 games done, have only won twice, and have not had a murder yet! And the games that we lost were mostly because the clues were what they were and the Watchers thought the Director was trying to mislead and so they felt there was a murder. But anyways - yes, great game, very surprised how much I like it :)
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer One of the best parts is bringing it to a gaming MeetUp and people look at it sideways... Then they play it and are like "Yep, that's pretty good!" Only played a handful of times, but it's been like that each time LOL
I received the game the other day (the parcel stuck for 2 weeks in some limbo at a courier service). It's a fantastic experience, I've played it with my wife and daughter. Me and my wife love the film and I am a huge fan of other Prospero Hall games, like Pan Am, Horrified, and Jaws. This is the best Mysterium-like game I've ever played. I own Tajemnicze Domostwo but never play it anymore because how long the setup is. In Rear Window the setup is very quick and the downtime is minimal. I love how thematic this game is, for what it is. And it's very simple to learn and teach, it flows well, it's very social and welcoming, even for casual players and people who haven't seen the film. My only complaint is when you don't play Murder (like in the first suggested game) one of the Watchers special powers is useless. That and maybe longish cleanup time. BTW when teaching people the game it's best to tell them to look for some reappearing motif, common theme being repeated 3 or 4 times as well as the fact that colored cards when placed on the left window are supposed to depict a particular character, not their attribute. And for me, I always resort to a colored card on the right, when I don't have a right one for the left window, but I want to show an attribute. Any other helpful hints you'd give? BTW when do you use Cut tokens as the director? Me, I use them when I initially lay down cards and then when I see that I have 4-5 unhelpful ones, then I use a Cut token, because when I replenish my hand, then I can potentially use those 4-5 cards in the card laying phase. But maybe I'm doing it wrong? Anyway, cheers and thanks for your review. Keep up the good work ❤️
Thank you. I usually use cut tokens about the same way. I usually try to place my "character" cards on the side with the character and the trait token on the other side.
Hey Cody! I finally bought this game today - I wanted to do it since I saw your video. The production quality is really good - a good, functioning insert, wooow -, I can't wait to play it!
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Thank you! I have others games on my list as well - thanks to you, I really want to play Chancellorsville 1863 for example, you really sold it to me :) Have a nice weekend!
I've just finished a game night and we played in a group of 6 people, we had a blast with it and we played it 3 times in a row. The group was very clever, and 2 times we managed to get all 8 pieces of info correctly on the 3rd day and that is even when there was a purple token in play one time. I wish there was more granularity of fine tuning the difficulty, though... But overall this game is a blast and there's no need to own Mysterium anymore. Maybe just Obscurio and that's it :)
i iam always amazed that i end up on your reviews...was gonna buy pan am but i saw this game and thought hmmm on eu funko is shipping from 50 euros free, i will not pass this up for 2 games with good quality for 60 euros...thanks for informative short video
Why is the glass on the rear window of American cars heated ? .... ... ... to keep the passengers' hands warm when they're pushing the car when it breaks down !!!

I picked this up at Walmart for $10. Blown away by the production value.
