Religious leaders use the word “prayer” to cover their actions with a veneer of piousness and high morality. When you hear that a group of people are gathering to “pray” you are supposed to think that good people with good motives are doing good work motivated by the love of their god. The only time the word “prayer” should be second guessed or even examined at all with any careful thought is if is preceding the word “rug.” Then prayer becomes dangerous.
If the prayer breakfast were on a Friday I would serve roasted swan. Because of course good Christians should eat fish on Fridays. And thanks to some very resourceful and probably hungry monks of medieval Britain, swan was established as a marine creature. Unfortunately for those monks it was later established that despite being a fish, swan could only be hunted, farmed, killed and or eaten by the monarch, and the crime of poaching the King’s swans was a capital one. In ye olde days, a creature labelled a protected species meant the king found them delicious.
I suppose I'll change from thinking of Biden as a corporate fascist to thinking of him as a corporate Christian fascist. I'm sure glade I voted for Republican-lite over Republican-psycho. Biden and McConnell can hold hands in the front pew while praying over the wealth they're about to receive.
