The channel of the Isthmus of Corinth is an artificial channel that allows
ships sail from the Ionian Sea to the Aegean Sea,
avoiding circumnavigating the Peloponnese peninsula,
whose rocky coastline is extremely dangerous and
thus save hundreds of kms.
