    Just some clarification, maybe the chef grew up in central/south Mexico. Us that grew up in northeast part of Mexico, south of TX border (Tamaulipas in my case), we've been eating breakfast tacos forever... that migrated into TX of course, as all good things do.
    Thanks for sharing this video, Claire!

    • @ericktellez7632
      @ericktellez7632 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He did, you can hear the central mexican accent not the northern accent. They do that a lot especially the chilangos they erase the entirety of northern Mexican culture all the time.

    • @charleyu5506
      @charleyu5506 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This guy is confused because my family is from central Mexico and we all eat breakfast tacos. I would be surprised if they don't eat something similar in the south. Huevos a la mexicana with some refried beans and you make a taco out of it. Chorizo con huevo is also very common and they're eaten as tacos.

Not a hidden gem spot lol, but truly a personal leading form of enjoying breakfast (pico, sour cream to choose your adventure on the side) I don't see served at restaurants. It's always breakfast sandwiches or burritos in California. The child and adult in me was beyond thrilled. I'll give tacos a shot next. Thanks!

    Thank you, Claire! The recent videos are great for me who have never been in any parts of USA yet. I was wondering if you could introduce your way of making lamington cake one day. I'm from Korea and living in Melbourne studying patisserie and working in a bakery. I've watched you making the chocolate cake in NYT Cooking channel and the other day I made your coconut cupcakes which was AMAZING. Then, for some reason, I thought myself whatever your version of lamington cake is, it would be exceptionally great. It'd be really appreciated if you could show your baking the cake and share your recipe when you feel like it!! Have a nice day!

    That is true, i had never heard of breakfast tacos until i moved to san antonio tx. Or people using lemons instead of limes, or yellow cheese as a topping. And so many other things. Im from northern mexico and even though a lot of the food is very similar theres a lot of white culture infused in what Texans call mexican food. But its really inspired by the food we have in northern mexico. Mexico is huge so the food here is really a small percentage of what mexican cuisine is.

    Breakfast tacos are a thing in Mexico tho', usually called "tacos mañaneros" or "morning tacos". Idk where Fermín grew up, but these are common in several parts of the country. Common fillings are: chorizo with potatoes, eggs with sauce, chicharron with sauce, chicharron "a la mexicana" (with veggies), barbacoa, picadillo (minced meat), cortadillo (beef tips), deshebrada (also beef, different dish), eggs with potato, etc... Each taqueria that serves these kind of tacos will usually have more or less varieties, depending on the region of the country they're in. They'll usually have both flour and corn tortillas, will usually add refried beans to the taco if asked. Common toppings at any taqueria are 2 sauces, red and green, minced onions with coriander and lemon slices (to get juice on your taco). Corn tortillas are more common on central/southern Mexico, some places won't really have flour tortillas at all. Good flour tortillas are only common on northern Mexico. Source: I'm a chef from Monterrey (north) but also grew up on the Yucatan peninsula (south), been traveling around the country all my life (family is everywhere lol).

    Claire, as a girl that has spent way too much time in New York, I know you believe Krispy Kreme is the best donut franchise but while in Austin, please make sure you hit a Shipley's donuts one early morning. When they are fresh (between 6am and 9am you can always get them fresh) they melt in your mouth. Maybe you got a taste of them as a kid but I think you need a refresher.
