  • What is it like to ride an electric supermoto? Let's find out!
    Thanks for watching my video "I Test Rode a Zero FXE Electric Supermotos" and I hope you find it informative or entertaining.
    The Zero FXE is truly impressive but is it worth the cost? Watch until the end to hear my honest opinion.
    A huge thanks to Savage Motorcycles in Midland WA for making this demo ride possible.

      @@afrobykr 3,700.00 Cdn. I got a -1k deal at the end of October 2022.
      3k would have got me a down payment on an FXE, but this bike doesn't require insurance or a full M (A1, A2, etc).
      Cops don't like them because of idiots on Surrons, but I wear full gear head-to-toe.
      Cops ride beside m (school zones), but for the most part leave me alone.

    Awesome take on this bike 🏍️ I’ve been following for years as well and the fact you brought up the hot swappable batteries and he mentioned it as a concept was a bit disheartening. I had hoped the tech would have progressed to this point already.
    Even though you can get “millions” of kilometers out of it… the fact is batteries can and do fail and if it does and you can’t simply take it out…. You’ve got a $12,000 piece of plastic
    I personally am STILL holding off on the electric motorcycle hype until someone gets them dialed in. My hope is for Damon Motorcycles in the near future

      Batteries if looked after last pretty long. You don't have the hundreds of moving parts like in an ICE motor. And there's many replacement options and probably tech upgrades too. And you can take it out.

      I don't know man 😄.
      Maybe models with longer range have a better chance to convert people. 105 miles would mean bye bye to group rides and exploring places you've never been to.
      I will hold on to my Husky for now hehe.
      Thanks for watching once again bro!

      You are right. Not because of demand though. The problem I see is when I look at all the electronic devices I have bought over my 53 years very few are still being used. The tech changes so fast and (long term) most of these bikes will end up at the recycle center.

      @@afrobykr It's a Chinese clone of a ninja 300/400, 2021. It tops out at 60mph if you're under 200lbs. It's great in city, but I clear my second season, I find myself wanting more speed, torque, and range. 3.4 to 3.7 kwh at best, but a third if not half the cost of the FXE.
      Build quality, I've had two electronic issues in two seasons: Dashboard, battery gauge didn't read correctly.. under warranty in season one. 12v breaker failed in season 2.

    I think the noise and gears is very big point, but also check out Ryan F9’s (Frotnine) video essay about electric bikes. We just don’t have the tech for the range yet for it to be viable.

    • @MV-vv7sg
      @MV-vv7sg 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Saying that. My 701 will only do about 80mi if I really rag her 🥸. Also toured her through the sound of France, no really problems with range on a small capacity bike.

    • @afrobykr
      @afrobykr  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yo!!! It's been a minute 😊.
      Cheers man, I will check out the mentioned Fortnine video.
      I remember seeing a video about Solid State batteries that are supposed to have a much smaller form factor than lithium batteries with similar or even better performance. So, I suppose if they make use of that or similar technology, they should be able to achieve better range figures.
      At least at the moment, petrol bikes are more convenient. Even though the range is similar, you can easily fill up almost anywhere.

    • @electric_boogaloo496
      @electric_boogaloo496 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @MV-vv7sg yeah it might only have 80 miles of range but, a range extender is as simple as carrying a 2L soda bottle with petrol in your backpack. When I take my motorcycles to the track I need to bring 5 gallons of petrol on top of a full tank to ride the entire day. I have run out of petrol twice on the streets, I just had to call my wife to bring me a can of gas. Rescuing an out of charge electric motorbike will require a truck with a bed, or a motorcycle trailer or a big ass generator.
      Ease of filling up is a bid deal and you don't know what you are missing until its gone.
