    I do believe it has something to do with a 'light application' to avoid people spilling there hot drinks and avoid passengers falling.

    These Train Drivers carry the same rank as an Airline Pilot in my Book. The Aptitude Tests for Train Driver are MORE difficult ! Especially the psychometric tests.

      A lot of a pilot's job role is hidden from the public. Train driver is still a very respected role though

    I really like this demonstration of starting up procedure and i thank you for sharing this video but i don't understand how a big company like Bombardier don't afford to hire a few good IT engineers to develop it's own operating system for their trains and not to use crap win. CE.

    • @edwardbyard6540
      @edwardbyard6540 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +ANDIY GreenGanjaMan Because it would cost a fortune, take years and can only be written by specialists who arent easy to replace. Since they only build a small number of units, its not cost effective. CE is good enough for this application. They're not Boeing who make a few thousand (if not more) of a unit.

      I believe Bombardier has moved to using a Linux-based platform since the Class 379 was bought in.

    But a constant apply and release would give a 'wave' effect throughout the train giving a rougher ride.

    why is he fanning the brake? whats wrong with leaving it in step 1?

    • @oliverkirkby7759
      @oliverkirkby7759 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Daysgoby89 because fanning it is basically doing on off on off .... but leaving in step will be a harsh STOP but fanning the brakes can allow a smooth stop especially for the people stood up.

    Do they keep failing? I thought reliability was pretty good. I realise this goes against the bashers' dogma that they ought to be, in the words of the literate comment just below this, that thay shude be lined up and cut up, but i think that reliability figures are fairly considerably superior to the HST, let alone the 86s and 47s.

  • @cjmillsnun
    @cjmillsnun 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    safety systems are never pointless. HSTs have safety systems as does any modern traction. The idea is that the safety systems provide an alert to the driver if something is wrong. Be it a warning light (in the case of HSTs and traction of that era) or a noise and information on a TMS (as on very new traction). Otherwise the driver should keep his eyes ahead on the track and signals. That said, I agree with you about Voyagers. Awful plastic rubbish.

    they are too small for rush hour running the toilets stink you can't have a nap on a long journey because the underfloor engines vibrate the carriges that much. they are a joke they should keep the HST 125 and scrap these sardine cans

  • @johnmcluskey
    @johnmcluskey 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    All these safety systems are pointless. The 220 is a heap of scrap and the drivers probably spend more time on control systems and less attention to the track.

  • @jonniefc

    what a joke. why cant they just put a control key in without having to cancel so much stuff. utterly stupid and time consuming nonense
