      Thanks so much Tonya. I think the thumbs down have to do with the look of my hands, and I understand that some people just can't handle them. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope you'll let me know if you have any other crafty issues you'd like me to cover in a video, as I'd be happy to help if I can...saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy

      Crafting For Almost Everyone I have been watching tons of your videos and to think that people would be shallow enough to pay any attention to that sort of thing just makes me worry about future generations. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply back to me because it almost feels like getting to talk to a celebrity lol.

      @@craftingforalmosteveryone I thought a Thumbs Down was to tell You Tube not to recommend a TYPE of video to me. No wonder so many TH-camrs wear false eyelashes. 🙄What a judgmental group over something insignificant to content. If I don’t care for someone in particular (for a reason like they’re way too slow or fast for me), I Unsubscribe and move on…
      The last Thumbs Down I hit was for a vague subject with a pic of materials-I wasted a lot of time viewing before deciding I wouldn’t have watched, if they had been specific or shown the finished product. AND I explained to the TH-camr why I was disappointed-their content was great but not for me.
      Keep up the good work!!!

      I have another video for envelope making that I'll attach here...th-cam.com/video/bJTS9HaJi94/w-d-xo.html This one gives you the recipe to make your own envelope glue that you can safely lick. I use it when making envelopes for gifts of card sets. So glad you enjoyed my video..

    Many yrs ago I bought The Envelope Mill envelope template book. It has 3 templates and I make envelopes from sugar/flour bags, magazines, sheet music, adult colouring pages, road maps, etc and my all time favourite paper source-calendars!! I only use store bought envelopes for my cards I sell. Recycle, recycle ♻️🙂 I do like how you jazz up your white envelopes, very nice!

      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Pat, Great ideas, and thanks for sharing...I love making envelopes out of not-so-pretty card stock, and most is too thick, and cracks on the edges. Your ideas of sugar bags is great...not sure how you get all of the flour out....can you give me an update on that. Love the idea of using sheet music....we have a lot of Rich's from high school...a few years ago, haha.... Thanks for the info...Now I stamp peg stamps on my envelopes to match whatever the card is inside.

      Crafting For Almost Everyone I use the outer bags. Here in Canada the sugar and flour bags have 2 bags. The reason for no white stuff on the envelopes.

      I finally found a fine tip applicator bottle with Bearly Art Glue that I can use. I'm not sure if you can get it in the UK, but the tip is great, and this glue is so runny that it just basically falls out of the tip, so no squeezing involved...and it still dries fast and no shiny residue...and no, I don't work for them, haha.....Hope all is well with you, Marion, and that you continue to stay safe...Sandy

      Amanda, I'm SO happy my video could help you make envelopes. I wanted to cover as many ways to do so as possible, and the two options I use the most are using the Envelope Punch Board (super simple, but requires a purchase of the punch board) and the first one, where you measure diagonally and add (I think) 2".. Please let me know if you have any other subject you'd like me to cover in a video, as I'm always looking for ideas, and love making videos that help others...saundralparker@yahoo.com. This is by far the best video on making envelopes I've seen and I've seen plenty! Easy to make, easy to understand instructions and very cost effective. You could also use the printed side of the paper for the outside and add a light colored matching home-made address label or a plain white stick on type. The cards you've shown with the envelopes are gorgeous and right away, I'm like, I wonder if she did a tutorial for them? Will definitely check out your channel. Thanks for posting.🙂

    I liked your ideas of decorating the envelopes with washi tape or ink. I usually use the envelope maker. I really like doing the custom folding method you did. I got confused with the origami fold. But I will be using different decorative paper and make my own envelopes now.

It's worth watching just to see me gagging over the first two taste tests, haha....Hope your envelopes make you happy...I love using peg stamps to decorate envelopes...www.pegstamps.com...If you've never tried them, they're so handy for things like envelopes...just the perfect size too...Sandy

      You're right, we crafters cover the globe. We have a lake house on Lake Erie and I often look across the water at Canada and wonder what towns are on the opposite side from me...Great Lakes are amazing, as it's like looking at the ocean. We have several small lakes near our home, but they are so overly populated and have so much water traffic, it's not relaxing....but on Lake Erie, we maybe see 10 boats in an entire day, and that's enough for us. (Oh, and sometimes a big barge in the distance.)

    Had I known the first way existed (and was so easy), I wouldn’t have bought the 1-2-3 punchboard. Oh well, I love a gadget! BTW: you can turn the Punchboard around to use the corner rounder punch at a better angle. (Bet you already know that.)
    Had to laugh. Your word is “also”; mine’s “okay”.
    Love the Washi tape idea. I gather you haven’t had problems with it jamming post office machines?

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't had my post office tell me my cards caused any issues, but then again, they almost always make me pay for hand stamping instead of a normal first class stamp..
      I love the first way to make envelopes too, and use it more than my punch board, as it's not that easy for me to punch it without hurting my wrists...(yes I am that kind of a big baby, haha)

    • @arashy
      @arashy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@craftingforalmosteveryone if you sent someone a flat, rectangular card and they didn’t mention card destruction, it’s probably good. 😆
      I don’t think you’re a big baby (or maybe I am too). Using a tool shouldn’t cause pain or discomfort. That’s why companies are starting to pay attention to ergonomics. 🏆🙌

  • @siggybenedict-shields3883

    If you put the card in backwards, don’t you risk damage when it goes through the mailing process?

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I buy the stamps used for hand stamped envelopes so I shouldn't have to worry. (I should have mentioned that it in the video.) No matter what your card front has on it, it is so much easier to put the card front in facing the flap of the envelope as it slides in easier.

    Thank you for this video! I like that you show all kinds of different ways! I do have a question - with all of the washi tape, etc. that you put at the bottom of the envelope, doesn't the Post Office have a problem putting their printing there? (They print the zip+4 plus a bar code 1/4" from the bottom.)

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the video. I've put washi tape on literally hundreds of envelopes and almost always take mine directly into the post office to make sure I have the correct postage on them, and they've never said anything about the washi tape, stamps, or any other marks I put near the bottom on the front or back. Hope that helps to reassure you....Sandy

    What size origami paper to use. Cards are diff sizes

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Origami papers are normally all the same size. I made this video so long ago that I had to watch it again to see how I measured for the origami technique and sadly, I didn't say how I determined the size. Of all of the techniques I used, I remembered how the origami method looked the most unprofessional. I would recommend instead, that you use the first technique where you measure the card on a diagonal and add one inch for the size of envelope you'll create. It should work for the origami method as well...Best of luck to you.Sandy

      If you're talking about the stamp that comes on a roller.....I'm getting rid of mine on ebay because I never use them and I have a load of them. I couldn't find another roller in the video unless it was a tape runner, and didn't think that was what you were talking about.
      The stamp wheels were really popular from Stampin Up years ago and now they aren't. I thought they'd be fun to use on envelopes, but they take up so much space, that I keep them somewhere that I never remember them.
      I'm sure you have Stampin' Up representatives in your country that would love to get rid of theirs. And you'd definitely be able to find some on ebay...

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Deborah Anne, I used copy paper for some of them and scrapbook paper that you would buy loose at any of the big craft stores for the others. Sometimes you can find a pad of scrapbook paper that's really inexpensive and includes really thin paper and that works best. If you use the thicker scrapbook paper like you would get in the pads from Michaels', it might crack when you fold it, so thinner is better...Copy paper thickness is what you are shooting for....Hope that helped. I added that info below the video as well, as I completely forgot..Thanks for giving me the heads up to make sure I included it...Sandy.

    glue to use on envelopes for mailing? Tfs😊

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any wet glue will work, and tear tape is great, as you can put it on, then not take the backing paper off of it until you're ready to send it. If you use wet glue, less is best. You can use small tape runners too, as pretty much any adhesive will hold an envelope shut unless it's really stuffed or your card is thick. Then I'd recommend sticking to tear tape, red line tape, something super strong. I hope that helped. Nice hearing from you...Sandy

Easier to follow. I'm going to make some for keeping ephemera in. I know you have arthritis, but I was wondering if you could also have another condition that I have? It's called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome...a genetic collagen condition. It's considered "rare" because it's horribly underdiagnosed. I know some people have Ehlers Danlos and arthritis. I ask because you have very smooth looking skin & a lot of flexibility in your finger joints (hyperextension). Also, Ehlers Danlos can lead to osteo arthritis, though not RA. If you have it, collagen is in all the tissues of one's body & can therefor affect any system. Thank you for your video. I will check out your others.

We used to go to Niagara on the Lake, as my husband, (who doesn't drink much alcohol) fell in love with ice wine many years ago, so we tried a few of their wineries and he found one kind he really likes. I liked to browse around their downtown. You might live hundreds of miles from Niagara, but whenever hear Ontario, that's where my mind takes me. How's the fire haze there?

If you've never used it, please email me and I'd be happy to walk you through it..saundralparker@yahoo.com If you've used it before and it seems to be broken, maybe the company can help...Here's their email address. info@americancrafts.com Hope I helped a little, as I know how frustrating it is when a tool you've bought doesn't seem to work...Sandy

    Really appreciate this video, I keep wanting to buy the envelope maker but right now it's just too expensive for me. So these envelope maker videos are awesome. What is the stamp roller you are using at 15:16 time stamp? That is just beautiful but I've never saw a stamper like that before.

      I don't think you need an envelope maker as it's really simple to use a rule and measure diagonally across a card and add one inch, cut the paper square to that measurement, center your card in it and fold in the sides...J recommend a glue stick as that's the simplest way to glue them shut....I make my envelopes this way instead of reaching for my punch board...no muss, no fuss... As for the stamp, it's made by Stampin Up and they no longer make them (I can't remember the name of that particular stamp,) and they are called Stampin Arounds, and here's the link on ebay to a ton of them.
      I hope you find some you like. You can also take them off of the roller (there are YTube videos that show you how to remove the stamp from the roll) if you want a long, flat stamp, otherwise, you need to make sure you buy not only the wheel, but the roller, so you can roll it. A lot of sellers don't sell the wheel (stamp) with the roller (the handle that the wheel snaps into)...Sandy

      You're right...The simplest way, by using your ruler diagonally on the card to find the length, is by far the easiest, and takes very few supplies. So glad I could help. Please let me know if you have any tutorials you'd like me to post, as I'm always looking for ideas...Sandy saundralparker@yahoo.com

      You're so sweet. Thank you so much. I hope you found the perfect way to make envelopes. I use the envelope punch board, but probably make the same amount of envelopes using the ruler and adding an inch to the diagonal. So simple and so effective. Thanks for the nice note. Sandy

      Omg! This is not as easy as when you do it!! Lol! I am not a crafter, I just like to make watercolor cards, and there is always a shortage of envelopes. I will have to practice this a little to have mine come out as neat as yours!! Fun to learn tho.
