First of all, the song at the end was awesome. Thank you Jared! Second, my comment about mining is that I think it would be best served to remove the distance modifiers. This would make the multicrew ships much more viable as you wouldn't have to hug every rock you're trying to break. Make the power just a function of the laser and modifiers that are attached to the ship. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Bro...the Arrastra looks soo good. The only bad thing is that it isn't a multi purpose ship, it would look amazing as an Andromeda equivalent or 2.0 and mining is not really my thing, plus 5 players...that's a bit much for me.
Whoa, what's that tune during the SRV interior segment? New RSI ship looks interesting. Nice role too. Happy for miners that they get such a nice all in one package
Nice to see that non-combat ships like the Arrastra are given turrets capable at actually defending itself. I sincerely hope that this wil also trickle back down to other non-combat ships retroactively so that they too get an update on their (currently lack of) defensive capabilities. For years I've stated that defense turrets need 2xS3 at minimum or else it's just pointless to man them. Seeing these quad-turrets now gives me some hope that we might see some proper defensive measures onboard ships so that we don't get the disparity of combat and non-combat ships where the non-combat ships would always be at the mercy of a lone player in a light fighter. Here's hoping that all non-combat ships will now see some updates to their turrets or perhaps that they are given some additional automatic defense turrets so that every multicrew ship out there at least gets a fighting chance against some agressors in fighters. Not to the point where every ship is suddenly set up like a Hammerhead ofcourse (although atm those quad-S4 turrets on the Hammerhead to little to deter fighters) but at least allow multicrew ships to fend off attacks from a couple of small fighters. Multicrew ships should be a force multiplier but we've yet to see this imo; especially now where the Gladius seems to reign supreme and can just head out and attack anything without any issue.
One thing I don't understand about armor and ships in star citizen is why cig doesn't work on a "painting" system where we can pick the primary and secondary colours from a palette. it would even free some space in gear stores.
Love the idea and concept of this ship. While I am excited about its future position/potential in the game, the game is in its current state lends very little use for a ship like this. Seems that more effort should be given to improving existing ships, especially since most are not at the gold standard. This existing ship could benefit from new engine technology combined with some feature updates. I understand the funding potential of new ships, but there exists equally similar funding for upfitting existing ships. New features, new options can equate to new price points.
Not a fan of all the remote turrets. Surely we can use "video screens" in some instances, like the SRV. I get that the remote turret "is a screen" but I mean from my seat, where I can see the screen, I don't enter it. Also, seems like the SRV would be better suited with a magnetic device that clamps or attaches to the vehicles. All of the "lasers" and "beams" gets boring, conceptually. It's like "How do we tow? Tractor beam! How do we carry incapacitated people? Tractor beams! How do we move cargo containers? Tractor beams!" It's really shaping up though, excited for the future!
Why do Argo ships always have my favorite hab area? I don't know what it is but I love the Raft and this one also looks so.. don't know. Not directly nice but such so... organized/optimised. Like a space I would like to be in, except for the orange, its a bit heavy on this one. Would be nice if I could change the interrior color without the outside color. I'm really hoping the tractor beam needs an operator in transit. It would be cool and make sense the beam has to be fairly frequently adjusted and maintained so it doesn't lose lock.
What SRV and towing gameplay in general also needs is a ‘chained towing’ mechanic where the ship can tow multiple ships or vehicles depending on its towing limit.
@@oO0Xenos0Oo No that’s a different scenario. I am talking about towing multiple smaller vehicles such as dragonfly where it feels wasteful if I can only tow one of them when SRV has the capacity to tow say 10 of them.
Did someone noticed the death person flooding out in space?? Poor guy... ;) Jared you the best. Thank YOU so much for being here and do this shows for us it really keeps the verse alive! Thanks alot Jared and happy Thanksgiving!
I wonder if those who have the Orion pledged will get the Arrasta as a loaner?? That would make a lot more sense than a mole and a prospector. Amazing video and work btw guys and gals.
Does it make sense to have an open weapon rack in the same room of a random rescued person? why not have that little rack in the "bridge"? I was really expecting to be quite closer to the to pulling ship, and some kind of... cone of slow light covering the entire ship while tows, rather than a simple line/light wire/tether.
You need to make those side tractor pads work. They need to help stabilize the towed ship. Maybe you have to spend more time to engage them to get the benefit whereas you can speedily hit with just the main beam. Either way, they NEED to be involved. We need a hotkey to enter the remote turret. And finally, we need to be able to nudge our ship while in the remote turret. Not complete flight, but small movements.
The Arrasta seems cool. But I feel like your going to get the same complaints as you do with the mole. Except that it has a refinery. I bet you will be seeing the Arrasta landed on a planet, mining lasers inert, with a fleet of prospectors hauling ore to it.
Great looking ship, and it's nice that it can perform a broad range of mining tasks. I do hope it can cope with hovering on VTOL's in atmo and that it's not just beams though.
Me either. Not sure it was even possible since you need the SRV to get to a pad. But its another one of those many things not listed in the patch notes.
I wish they'd balance the center of thrust better in their ships... On this ship the tractor beam is located above the rest of the ship and above all the main engines. Likewise the Herald got its biggest engine behind the part of the ship that looks lightest... I don't mind a ship being unsymmetrical, but I do mind when they're not balanced in terms of newtonian forces...
Wonderful ship especially for the multifunctionality it has and for the cargo space at its disposal, but you will make a similar ship for salvaging with the rsi which I have been waiting for since I bought this game, it is a wonderful mechanic but it offers very few options of ships to choose from (two) one abnormal for the role it must play and for the multiple doors and rooms to pass through to go from the cockpit to the cargo area and the other with too much cargo small for ships made available for salvaging missions
Jared's Animaniac Yakko shirt foreshadowing the end of this video was perfect! (For young folks who don't understand the parody, look up Yakko's World).
I'd been really interested to see the Arrastra since the leaks to see what their sort of 'mission statement' for large scale mining would be, and I have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed; other than refining (which we'll likely see on other ships first) this doesn't really bring anything new to the game loop other than maybe a bigger size of laser. It's effectively the same crew count and same overall function as a MOLE, which bodes poorly for the MOLE's niche (that it only recently won after years of being irrelevant bc a prospector could break anything). It doesn't feel like the design teams really have much of a plan for mining, seeing this, or any ideas for adding additional depth to the loop. Which is a shame, because the design of the ship is very cool in and of itself.
That ending......Amazing.
It's an homage to Animaniacs (and to the dev's, lol). I was wondering why he was wearing an Animaniacs shirt...then he did the song.

I'm really hoping the tractor beam needs an operator in transit. It would be cool and make sense the beam has to be fairly frequently adjusted and maintained so it doesn't lose lock.
It does. The pilot needs to pay attention to scm and centering constantly
What SRV and towing gameplay in general also needs is a ‘chained towing’ mechanic where the ship can tow multiple ships or vehicles depending on its towing limit.
They already said that will not happen as the physics is to complicated and would destroy game performance.
It think it will be the other way round. Multiple SRVs have to tow a single big ship.

Oh did they say in the video? I must have missed it
@@oO0Xenos0Oo
No that’s a different scenario.
I am talking about towing multiple smaller vehicles such as dragonfly where it feels wasteful if I can only tow one of them when SRV has the capacity to tow say 10 of them.
@@AdityaWaghmare Why would you pull a dragonfly with an SRV? Just load it into a ships hangar with a regular hand held or ship mounted tractor beam.
Looking at the RSI Arrastra, first thing that comes to mind is Misc Fury mining version :) for that dock
Did someone noticed the death person flooding out in space?? Poor guy... ;)
Jared you the best. Thank YOU so much for being here and do this shows for us it really keeps the verse alive! Thanks alot Jared and happy Thanksgiving!
1:49 Daniel Dexter-Taylor: I could listen to his voice all day. Get him in the voiceover booth stat!
gotta love an animaniacs'ish song for the ship dev team, great job
looking forward to the arrastra
In the future I hope to see more manufacturers fleshed out like RSI. Argo really needs more ships. A larger cargo ship. Maybe a medical ship?
The hab area gives trailer vibes, like that table that probably folds down into a bed with the square "booth" seats.
Did not realize repair from soft death was available
This was very cool! I was also hoping that big tie interceptor was going to be announced.
that would be tomorrow in theory, it's a branch of MISC right?
Wonderful ship especially for the multifunctionality it has and for the cargo space at its disposal, but you will make a similar ship for salvaging with the rsi which I have been waiting for since I bought this game,
it is a wonderful mechanic but it offers very few options of ships to choose from (two) one abnormal for the role it must play and for the multiple doors and rooms to pass through to go from the cockpit to the cargo area and the other with too much cargo small for ships made available for salvaging missions
