I mean, this is what circuit pro looks like. 12 mono sample tracks, 2 poly synth, 2 midi parts, sidechain, Fxs, master Fx Nice video btw! I'll do a similar thing with Tracks and SP404mk2
Very accurately exploded the inner parts of these energic tracks, well done Gabe! And don't give a dayum about comments related to the exact genre of your works. Who cares, they sound so reviving and energizing!
Hi Gabe! Nice video! I really like your videos about Circuit, I'm learning a lot from those. I have to ask you, Novation fixed the issues related between the Tracks and Rhydhm connectivity? Like the out of sync when you change projects. Thanks!
How realistic is it to think that Novation will: 1. Make a new version of these, or combine them into one unit with improvements? 2. Update or add more support of the current models? 3. Add more free packs or help us decode/ simplify Components? Nice video, keep them coming for these two units. Because of you, I sort of want the Rhythm, but am holding back from getting one because of some of the limitations and issues and lack of support from Novation. I like my Tracks, but wish it had more Midi parts, more Scenes/ Patterns/ Projects and longer sequence times, pitch shift, effects, etc. But I dig it for what it is, and have been making great stuff since obtaining it and using it to sequence external synths. Thanks again for the great videos!
1. I have no idea. People have been asking for it forever, but Novation hasn't indicated that they'll do it, so I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd love it to exist though. 2. It's possible they'll do some bug fixes to things that go wrong when combining the Tracks and Rhythm, but I don't know about anything else. 3. More packs seem to be added periodically, and there might be more on the way. I wouldn't count on Components getting simplified. Glad the videos have been helpful!
I don't have either of these but still got a lot out of this video 👍. I have an MPC One and Korg nanoKONTROL2. Creating a jamming system was initially a problem due to the flakey external control assignment on the MPC but I cut back on complexity and now use the Korg just to control each submix via a LPF - the cutoff on the faders and peak on the knobs. I route all the programs to the submixes e.g. basses go to submix 2. The cutoff lets me pull out stuff as easily as if it was volume. I also have a Roli Lightpad Block to let me trigger samples from a dedicated track while the MPC screen and pads are busy with other stuff.
I did enjoy the tracks. Interesting setup. I have nor sold my MC101 and bought an MPC one so being totally selfish I’d live to see more MPC one content. I have also got a woovebox and I just haven’t gotten to grips with it yet, and while it gave me more tracks than the Roland aside from the pocketable form factor it doesn’t give me anything the AKAI can’t do so may be even appearing on eBay in the near future 😀
Circuit Tracks for the synths and not the main drums (due to latency) except a few washed out perc elements and the Circuit Rhythm for most of the drums we hear with some SFX elements... right? It is too bad about the latency of CR. An external little mixer could fix that but more gear and less control of the audio FX on CT. What about adding another mini synth to trigger from Midi 1 on CT then audio into CT? I have a Modal Skulpt on mine to add more sounds which works great!
Yeah it's mainly used for synth stuff because of the latency. As far as I know, it happens whenever you bring audio in to either Circuit, which is why I didn't add another synth. It would get delayed on its way into the Tracks, then delayed more on its way into the Rhythm. But I've done plenty of Tracks + synth setup (especially Tracks + Roland MC-101), and that works quite well.
A lot of the stuff I showed in this video (volume automation of things like snare rolls, white noise riser samples, project switching, and master filter sweeps) all apply to the Circuit Tracks as well. Check the "my favorite part" chapter. I also show some of that around 19:45 in this other video: th-cam.com/video/El3Hjce6Ly4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kitCynGDmzz9DMYr
Yo buddy !! I can’t believe all these years after and I’m STILL here with ya! I met you when you reviewed the Drumkit you have there on the back (which I bought because of your review). Now I own like, most groove boxes too… so… I’m pretty familiar with you lmao! On the equivalent quest for groove, I am considering another purchase (I know GAS wtf); SP-404 or Rhythm (I have circuit)…. Do you think you could make a comparison especially considering the newly added integration with Koala (SP-404)?. Ios / mobile production is my thing so the new update really made consider the SP when I had never even beforehand. Any thoughts bro?? Thanks!! Wonderful video btw :), as all of your content. Liking the look too! Definitely a good fit for the theme 😎
That's awesome, thanks for rocking with me for that long! It's hard to say without knowing what you want to be able to accomplish, but in general... if you want a solid hardware jamming setup, the Rhythm pairs decently well with the Tracks (I'm not sure about the original but I imagine it would work as well). I like the workflow of the Rhythm better than the 404, but the 404 is definitely more powerful. That's especially the case with the update adding its own sound generator. Both devices have similarities to Koala, but the 404 is a bit more similar in layout, plus it has more in terms of polyphonic sample playback. That's a bit general but hopefully helpful!
@@GabeMillerMusic ohh thanks so much man! Have you like tried the actual Koala integration released by Roland though? That’s what actually triggered my curiosity on the SP-404. I work a lot in conjunction with iOS (as soundbank and also as timeline/DAW sometimes) so an actual legit Koala integration from a manufacturer that is actually well implemented could be a game changer for me. Can’t find much info (in detail) on how well this integration has been assembled; if you haven’t done it yet you should probably consider checking it out sometime! If it weren’t for this integration aspect I would go straight for rhythm btw - novation’s midi implementation is one of my favorites (works amazingly well with iOS, with the relative encoders, multiple channels… and stuff like that). Cheers buddy! I still play that Drumkit btw!
Gabe can you help me out? Long time subscriber here. I kinda lost track... There's Circuit Rhythm and Circuit Tracks... but wait a minute. wasn't there a "regular" Circuit before that? Novation is my fav manufacturer but i always lose track of all them "mark 2\mark3" versions and now another thing... Am i missing something?
Yes, there was an original Circuit. The Tracks came out in early 2021 and is basically the mark 2. It incorporates all of the firmware updates the original got and adds some hardware features. The Rhythm came out later in 2021 and is a more sample focused offshoot of the Tracks. I did do a video comparing the Tracks and Rhythm if you're interested.

bingo. add a little LCD screen so we know what we're tweaking to boot. selling my circuits and going full into deluge otherwise.
Yeah-- the SP404 can control Koala too which is brilliant!
I recently got the rhythm to go with the tracks - this is super helpful!
Please try to use the model Cycles and the model samples more. Would be very cool.

I really admire what you do mate!

@@GabeMillerMusic Thanks for the reply, Gabe! Keep up the great work, and I am loving your music as well!
I loved this live set, great tracks and really good job with making them on this setup, so I am happy to watch the making of, thanks. :)
Love your stuff, you're the reason I bought a circuit tracks, if only they would make a circuit pro!
This makes me smell the smoke machine 🤘😑🤘
