Big shout out to Schar. If he hadn’t cut out that cross in the first half (about 15 mins) it could have been very different. Had that gone in I think it would have wrecked our solidity. It would have been a mountain to climb. Was it just me….. but was there almost relief that Pope wasn’t playing?
Like Charlotte said its frustrating that its taken this long for Howe to realise that the midfield issue was simply swaping Bruno and Tonali around. This is the first team until the January window and Botmans return
Lovely as CR is I’m not going to take her opinion over Eddie Howe when comes to developing the tactical aspect of modern elite footballers. Eddie has been trying to get an advantage by having a midfield that isn’t tied down to the retains of a bespoke 6 and 8 positions. He wants his central midfielder to be both as and when the time and place and circumstances require it. I think what’s happening is that he’s going back to the traditional dmf and amf because we need more of a threat. He has to keep two world class midfielders happy. Somehow.
Great win that couldn’t have come at a more critical time. We need to have the opposite of last season’s December and string some wins together in some winnable games for the pressure on Howe to subside
Two big games this week. Watched Brentford at Chelsea and they didn’t start playing until 70 minutes but Mbeumo was dangerous. Chelsea controlled it for long periods. It’s going to be a very tough game on Wednesday.
Great result/performance against a poor Championship team but it means nothing if we go out of the Cup and get a drab draw away at Ipswich in the next two. However if we win the last 4 games of this calendar year, which is doable, then we're definitely back.
I feel we should be able to win the next two games, if we show up. No doubt about that. Especially if we continue with Tonali in the same position. It’s the Villa game that worries me, very good side, consistent, with two good in form strikers.
We dominated Brighton for about an hour and missing chances is not unlucky, it’s bad play. Everton away BAD play. Isak and Gordon missing big chances is bad play. Take responsibility and do better. Brighton didn’t even play a low block and neither did Everton really, they just conceded possession and played on the counter. We sometimes lack cutting edge and Everton are shite. Brighton can play in different ways and are tactically flexible.
Where is the return to form? 1 game that we performed in against probably the worst club in the league. Eddie is still on the brink and will be until he actually sustains a level from the players. I was there we played well, Murphy probably should of scored at least 4 and possibly 5 goals, isak could of had a hat trick on another day but its only 1 game. We are still bottom half and we absolutely deserve to be there. The next 4 games will decide our fate and eddies this season. Tonali absolutely must start every game if not injured.
Do you mean he’s on the brink with you and the Twitterati? Because he really isn’t with match going fans and he is even less so with the club hierarchy. Genuine question as to who/what you’re referring to.
@@badofcheese I’m assuming you’ve also heard of happy clappers as well, you know the fans who are satisfied with mediocrity and don’t seem to mins finishing midtable and thus losing our star players next summer
But we are bad against a low block! Or a mid block. I think I know what you mean, though. We need to move forward more and take risks with the forward passes because when we don’t, presumably because we”re trying to retain possession, we end up losing possession anyway. Our short game was very effective yesterday because it led to a playing being able to move forward afterwards and either progress forward and pull the oppo out of shape or allow one of those killer forward passes. Bruno got some contact and went down easily but it wasn’t a dive. If that’s a dive then the books going to get A lot of use. Also, the algorithm that he should heave gone off doesn’t work as if held been booked he isn’t making a reckless challenge like that (I hope:)
I get its frustrating seeing the team coming full circle back to the team we started the season with, but after the 1st four performances of the season you can't blame Eddie for tinkering and looking at other options. The fact we have cone back to Murphy on the RW just shows how poor stocked we are in that area! Needs addressing in the window regardless of his 2x goals. Our whole team will be so much better with a decent RW. It will be chalk and cheese!!
We are going to win the league no doubt. Which word would I pick in regard to the next game unfortunately it is not win. I doubt our consistency so let's not get carried away we seem to lose our ability to play football when we travel south of Gateshead. Let's consider this result as a bare minimum.
Really gutted as an Eddie Howe out supporter. Been basing my argument on only being able to play well against good sides but this result puts a spanner in the works. All I can come up is Leicester were worse than a bad team? Been following for years since the takeover and it’s been up and down so consistency is a major issue. Let’s hope a new manager can overcome this and turn Jacob Murphy into the world class player we need for our club. Really frustrating because I was hoping we’d win the league by now.
Its mad how you cant praise one good performance without being called a happy clapper 😂. This seasons been shite overall. Had some good games, not many, but some. Had some absolutely shocking ones. Is it ok to have a balanced view or do i need to commit to either being a happy clapper or wanting Howe out?
Great performance indeed. Thats what we want to see consistently but the only teams that can do it at the moment are Chelsea, Liverpool Arsenal and City....look at their players and money they have spent without any restrictions and you moaners are expecting us to be competing with them...jokers. YES, the next 3 games are ones we can win and should win. Maybe that will satisfy all you moaners to stop calling for Eddie's head, knowing the fact we didn't sign a single starter in the summer. You all wanting unrealistic performances. Champions league has made so many fans feel entitled. Delusional 😮
City? Just beaten again. In fact Liverpool and Chelsea still consistent.but rest of league hit and miss,so congested only a few points between 11th and 5th
@@rrstows3522 Well, you said it...only a few points between 12th and th4...5 points. This is why I'm not too worried about our position at the min because I know we will come good from here onwards.
Eddie is struggling because he has a weaker side now than he did at the end of last season. I presume Bunce is effectively telling him who he can and can’t play because of fitness levels. I don’t believe for a minute that Eddie wanted to start with a different eleven against Brentford than he did against Liverpool, but he - and Bunce - are having to manage resources carefully- especially as no one seems confident about strengthening the first team in the next window. Eddie has never tinkered with squads in the past the way he has done this season, so you have to ask what’s changed. Given the crazy way some results have gone this season, we’re still in a position where a decent run would put us back in contention for Europe - and we are still in both Cups! My guess is that he will play his strongest available side on Wednesday : he will have to make changes for Ipswich anyway, as Joelinton is out.
You are too far gone to be reasoned with if you think bunce has the authority to select or deselect players for starts over eddie. I hope you can come back from this absurdity.
Hard to say he has a weaker side given Tonali wasn’t available due to the ban. That said our squad would be better if we’d brought in a RW and/or CB in the summer, and Howe is largely to blame for that
After watching the Manchester Derby yesterday we have nothing to fear at old Trafford apart from the ref selection 😅

Solid performance against a pants team, means nothing if we dont go on a run and build on it.
I wouldn’t say we were ruthless against them. Isak missed a 1 on 1 sitter and many other easy chances went begging

Tonali is world class, needs a run of games now. We desperately need a RW as it would give us much needed balance. Love Lewis Hall
So quick to see the pass.
Salah doesn’t always have a great game and gives the ball away but scores 2 goals and then thought to be a world class genius
we even had santa claus in the front row of the team photo.
