Hell, SEGA outright hired fans to make Sonic Mania, one of the best sonic games to be made in years. Being lenient, or involved with fans in this way is certainly a newer practice, but it's clear which companies at least give a shit, to companies that genuinely enjoy fan content based on their approach. It's only going to gradually be more common for companies to be more supportive, and involved in what their fans do, and just like with everything under the damn sun, Nintendo is eons behind everyone else on the quickly-arriving standard. I've said this for years, and I will continue saying it. Nintendo would sue you for thinking about Mario if they could. You know they want to take all of our money, and give us nothing in return. They hate every single one of us, and the moment that finally hit me was when they first tried to copyright claim FAN ART. ALL OF IT. They had people specifically just to look for fanart to get rid of. They wanted to punish their fans for daring to be inspired by their products, and IPs, and daring to show appreciation, and love. Nintendo, based on that fact, is not above hiring people solely to hunt down anything they can sink their C&D fangs into, because they love stomping on those that built them to where they are, now. Nintendo sees itself above us, and they will not stop hating us until their entire management is replaced. Because they all hate us at the top, the suits, while the developers only do what they are told. Go for the head, and take them out. If there's one thing I do want Japan to abandon for the American method, it's how they deal with legalities, because even if we aren't the best, we're better than Japan in that single aspect.

As a kid, I used to really love Nintendo! But the older I get, I thought that I was just growing up and not enjoying what they were putting out anymore. The same company that has created one of my favorite franchises Splatoon, they also allowed Pokemon to lose that sparkle that made Pokemon so good. They are still going after zero profit Fangames, and coming up with arbitrary rules for a fucking Smash tournament, as well as taking down said tournaments if they don’t follow their “guidelines”.
They also very recently targeted Gmod and are destroying over 20 years of content just because they want everything on their platforms and controlled specifically by them.
I know they have all legal right to do this, but like some people say, “You may be allowed to do it, but it doesn’t always mean you should do it.” The worst part is is that most of these cases don’t financially hurt them.
The Yuzu case may have definitely hurt them a little bit but none of these other cases hurt them financially at all and are only targeting them because they’re so fucking pretentious, they are the richest company in Japan right now and are worth $11 billion for Christ sakes.
Nintendo isn’t as bad as EA or Ubisoft but if those two companies didn’t exist, they would be very high on the shit scale, with their only redeeming quality’s being their good games and good IPs keeping them afloat.

The Game Challenger its bad in the sense that they’re revamping and essentially erasing the authenticity; me being an originals type person i applaud the change for non-offensive and kid friendly but some like to enjoy the same game they had enjoyed 5, 20, or even 30 years ago

No, Disney is much worse. The stuff that Disney is involved with will hurt them for a longer time than Nintendo's moves hurt them. Removing dislikes? Banning white males? Making SO many bad movies for multiple decades? Suing a preschool at least once? Messing with actors? I can only see the comparison if they were this bad, but TH-cam issues are not the same thing. You can still call Nintendo for it (along with every other company that does it, including the ones that are not called out for it at all), but that's not the same as how Disney treats their employees.

I felt genuine sadness leaning about the joycon project being stopped by Nintendo. It was...for charity. For a man who took his own life. I don’t understand how people are so heartless.
I'd understand if they were profiting off the joycons (in which case would still make the higher ups scumbags) but the money's literally going towards a charity. They are fully within their right to do all this, but it's saddening to see the total lack of empathy the higher ups have shown
Edit: I was somewhat misinformed about the situation and it seems like the guy who sells the custom joycons is indeed profiting from them. This being the case, my opinion has changed a bit. While I still think they should have been allowed to sell them, the fact that he is indeed making money from this is upsetting to me. In my opinion he should have donated all of the money to charity, but alas here we are. I stand by the fact that Nintendo is a fucking soulless husk of a company now, and that they should still be able to protect their IP. Hopefully by the time the next fundraising campaign begins, the seller can rectify his mistakes, help out a charity and truly give Etika the tribute he deserves.

@Walker Farnsworth and invited the fans making a re2 remake themselves to Japan to show them the official one before anyone else. And valve literally let fans make the official remake to their most important game of all time.
Hell, SEGA outright hired fans to make Sonic Mania, one of the best sonic games to be made in years. Being lenient, or involved with fans in this way is certainly a newer practice, but it's clear which companies at least give a shit, to companies that genuinely enjoy fan content based on their approach. It's only going to gradually be more common for companies to be more supportive, and involved in what their fans do, and just like with everything under the damn sun, Nintendo is eons behind everyone else on the quickly-arriving standard.
I've said this for years, and I will continue saying it. Nintendo would sue you for thinking about Mario if they could. You know they want to take all of our money, and give us nothing in return. They hate every single one of us, and the moment that finally hit me was when they first tried to copyright claim FAN ART. ALL OF IT. They had people specifically just to look for fanart to get rid of. They wanted to punish their fans for daring to be inspired by their products, and IPs, and daring to show appreciation, and love. Nintendo, based on that fact, is not above hiring people solely to hunt down anything they can sink their C&D fangs into, because they love stomping on those that built them to where they are, now. Nintendo sees itself above us, and they will not stop hating us until their entire management is replaced. Because they all hate us at the top, the suits, while the developers only do what they are told.
Go for the head, and take them out. If there's one thing I do want Japan to abandon for the American method, it's how they deal with legalities, because even if we aren't the best, we're better than Japan in that single aspect.

As a kid, I used to really love Nintendo! But the older I get, I thought that I was just growing up and not enjoying what they were putting out anymore. But in fact, I've come to realize that Nintendo continues to drop the ball and disappoint fans, as well as just shit on their fanbase and community at any opportunity they get. The same company that has created one of my favorite franchises Splatoon, they also allowed Pokemon to lose that sparkle that made Pokemon so good. Nintendo driven pokemon games are incredibly soulless and lacking in every department, meanwhile you can do a side by side of Nintendo's most recent Pokemon game, and Bandai Namco's Pokemon spinoff game, and you can easily tell which company actually gives a shit.
Same, now i just feel like the other franchaises are going down hill expect for Splatoon and now i feel like i only want to play this game, bc of how the other franchaises don't come up with more creative ideas.

As far as I know, japanese culture revolves around pretendind to be "honorable", thus making them considerably more conservative than western companies, which are more open and friendly to the public.
Considering their history and how they had some honour-based trends like the samurai and such, I think it's more of a façade (In reality they were pretty nasty, specially during wars, they pretended to be honourable but were the first ones to "cheat" in order to win wars (sorry for the bad english, I'm really struggling to communicate here xd))
The same thing happens to From Software, the japanese company that made the Dark Souls and Bloodborne videogames. They are pretty conservative and have a lack of communication between them and their fans, but at least Fromsoft doesn't punish their players for having fun with their games in a way Nintendo would consider as "wrong way"
