This racing game was known to be hard-as-nails at the time... so let's give it a try on the PCSX2 emulator! (Spoiler alert: this did NOT go well...)
EDITOR'S NOTE: I took more time to edit this one than usual, so let us know what you think and if you want to see more like this in the future! ~mrxbas

I love how director roast you for every failed scene. "try harder", "where were you going" 🤣
It’s definitely a great way to rub in how difficult this game can be sometimes 😅
"What've you done to the vehicle?" "That's too slow!"
I say "Fuck you, you piece of shit" to the director. Do you know how hard it is to do all these stunts in a row?
Yeah, Ive been play one mission for 2 hours and still haven't finished it
Stuntman is one of the most underrated games ever. What an epic idea for a driving game!
Back in the day where devs fear no shit and will put you through literal hell just to having an incredible archivement sensation
i would say it's a gaming genre on itself, cause is not traditional driving, neither racing, is a Stuntman game.
only classic games from the older days i need is need for speed prostreet or shift 2 unleashed
The first one was good the later ones were frankly rubbish.
@@Andy-Against-The-World Agreed. I couldn't put down the first one. The physics and damage model were awesome. I think I tried the second one and was disappointed.
Hey everyone! I had a slightly different editing style than usual in mind for this video, so please let me know if you liked it or not!
why does it say that this video got uploaded 20 sec ago and you uploaded this 48 minutes ago💀💀
Dude how are you earlier than us here?
Clueless
The video was unlisted right before publishing, so I was able to add a comment beforehand
@@MrPacoIsAwesome hes a time traveller
The reason the CPU cars get so screwed up on emulators is because they aren't actually CPUs. Their pathing is based on a controller recording and if they deviate from that path because of any multitude of factors, emulators, cheats, whatever, they go crazy.
Source: Ubisoft Reflections Driv3r Let's Play
Wait BeamNG added pathing exactly like how you described where you drive a route and can play it back so theoretically we can set up a pretty faithful version of Stuntman in BeamNG
was thinking the same, that d be awesome
it's because the way the PS2 handles decimal numbers is slightly different from the implementation in the emulator, which in 99% of cases doesn't break games, but breaks the pathing here. when you change the way the emulator handles decimals in the settings, the routes fail in different ways. the actual detail in precisely how the decimals are calculated is extremely hard to get right, the PS2's implementation is almost imperceptibly different from the way you'd implement them on any other computer or system.
Halo CE did the same for dropships, they're actually following a prerecorded path from a developer flying them in and then flying away
@@foxdancemediaIt isn't just the dropships, it is also most every NPC in cutscenes.
New challenge for PCSX2 devs: Get Stuntman working properly.
Make it happen
AFAIK the AI is super bugged in the emulation making it impossible to actually beat the game on emulation BUT WE WILL GET THERE!
Is it FPS related?..
@@yarost12yes. The game isn’t meant to do anything over 30 FPS so when it runs at 60, the cars you’re supposed to chase don’t follow the proper path
Hahaha you'll play 720p 30 and like it.
I remember playing the crap out of Stuntman and Ignition as a kid
Core memories unlocked.
SAME! I am surprised no one has really given it any retrospective video, well underrated!
The original Stuntman had great crash physics and vehicle damage, some fun ideas too, and Ignition had some pretty epic set pieces
you do remember or only unlocked them now from the video? contradicting yourself a bit lol
Fun fact about this game: Stuntman is pretty much Driv3r "prototype" just to showcase the physics which is looks impressive for the both game. And another reason why this game is so difficult not only because trial and error to perfection and precision, but also most of the time you pretty much struggling with it's physics that feels too "realistic". That's why Stuntman Ignition is little bit easier because it's arcadey. (Different developer too).
I found Ignition to be a bit too arcadey tbh. I'd love a 3rd game that's somewhere in the middle
The First stuntman game was tremendous! Unlocking memories haha! The stage building was epic
9:09 RUSSIAN SOUND VERSION OF DRIVE, OH YEAH!
Your sound effects editing is beyond priceless! Love watching your videos so much! Keep it up! And thanks for playing the games that actually mattered to our childhood!
Some people may think this game looks a lot like Driv3r, that's because it's made on the same engine as Driv3r (which is way worse) and Driver PL.
Kinda funny how this “Beta Driv3r” is in some ways just a better game
@@mrxbas It's also so much fun when you're setting up your own scenes lol
@@heavenlanes5598 I was thinking of including some stunt editor montage in the video but it sadly didn’t make the final cut
And developed by the same people, too.
New missions
1 - fix 'Stuntman' for PCSX2
2 - mod 'Stuntman'
3 - Make custom KuruHS movie for the game
I run through this game once every year. It's one of my all time favorite driving games.
So many memories of this game, thanks for playing it Kuru !
12:19 nice parking bro🌚
Thanks 😅
seeing this gem being brought back from the depths brings me so happy. i was around 7-8 when it came out and i remember dumping hours into this game. Hands down one of my favorites and i only beat it twice. Since i was so young i didnt understand defeat so i kept throwing myself at every challenge until i beat them all. I was so excited when ignition came out. a whoopin and a hollerin was my most memorable mission to do. This game needs a modern revival, but done right.
Starring Ryan Gosling: Stuntman
god i miss this fucking game series so much
its weird how much fun it was to actually hit a hard stunt
I love this game, and I hate that there is nothing quite like it.
@5:52 Kuru's laughter tho! 😂😂😂
That was one of my favourite moments too, so loud it noticeably clipped on his mic
23:12
The rocket league edit at 25:38 had me pissing my pants, so f'ing funny😭
Don’t even ask how this idea came about 🤣
Loved this game never beat it but your title is best way I could describe it
I used to play stuntman as a teenager, it was so freaking hard, i think i broke some controllers over this game.. it's cool how people are rediscovering it
22:32 I don't remember McGregor and Price doing that.
14:58 oh my god! Bro was sniped by another snowmobile!
I liked the Tuk Tuk stunt challenge so far!
I loved this game growing up. Still have it. Great editing by the way :)
I loved this game I use to play this all the time as a kid, trying to get close perfect as possible. Even replayed it loads. I miss these type of games so much personality. The nostalgia is crazy ❤❤❤
"CUT! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE VEHICLE!?" will forever be engrained into my psyche
One of the things I personally noticed as a kid was that the goal wasn't to go fast, there were timed sections, but you basically need to learn the speed and route needed to hit all the points, the timer makes you rush but think of it more as a zero point, you want to be as close to it as possible, to hit all the points and to make it look good on camera, so drive with control, not speed.
Man this was one of the most difficult games I played as a kid. Countless restarts because of messing up one part. Eventually beat it 100% and feeling so relieved, then going back and trying to do it all over again, but with less mistakes. Such a fun and rewarding game despite its flaws.
That "Instant Gaming Cheap Game Keys" Plug was hilarious AF
Man it makes me so happy to see my favorite childhood games being covered
insert TRUCK into every video by this mad man loving the ragdolls in this game its sequel is fun too
I’m pretty sure this game gave my first rage quits as a kid. I loved this game so much. Super nostalgic
Proud to say I actually beat this game as a kid when it released on PS2. But I feel like it was easier for me as I always played car/racing games. Loved this game and the free play mode where you could select any vehicle.
Stunt man was awesome back in the day every though it was essentially a tech demo but... I loved it. It was super hard at times with no room for error in some situations. Good video!
I actually beat this game on console back in high school YEARS after having owned it and getting stuck in the hong kong level. This game IS HARD and you basically have to memorize the layouts so it's a lot of trial and error but it's VERY satisfying when you get the stunt properly, especially the huge jumps that can be unpredictable to land.
MEMORIES.
It always became a different game when you started intermittently adding your own objectives, such as "don't hit the camera crew."
Best game ever made, definitely shaped my childhood. Blew 2 rear ends and an engine in highschool because of this game
Playing this at like 8 years old was a pain, came back on a actual ps2 a few months back and holy crap yeah its still a pain. I couldnt imagine it on a emulator
Kuru missing the jet 12 times show why stunts like these are never all done in a single take.
Also, you were ejecting too late, you're supposed to hit the action button before you hit the ramp.
I played this so much as a kid that to this day I will randomly say the director lines out loud.
I had the most satisfaction when I manage to 100% the first Stuntman game. What a thrill.
Can't say the same about Stuntman: Ignition. I remember I was so disappointed I deleted all my save files. The worst part about Ignition is that some missions not even last a minute.
Yo nice edit
I swear the amount of times I felt like throwing my controller across the room on the final missions of Stuntman was infuriating, still it was an amazing game from start to finish. This game definitely needs a remaster!
This game uses the same Engine as Driv3r. Which is why the Driving in that game is so smooth and satisfying.
9:10 wait. Это русская озвучка?
Man this was one of THE games I grew up with. It sucked but was amazing at the same time lol. Keep up the great videos man!
Yes! I was gonna recommend this cause it’s like barely in my memory. I remember as a kid I got stuck on the level where you have to drive on two damn wheels practically the whole stage
I loved playing this game as a kid, I was stuck on the bridge one with the yellow car for a bit but I eventually got past it
My very first game that I bought for the PS2 back in 2010. The game was so difficult for me as a preteen back then, but I won't lie that, despite the trial and error you have to go through a lot, I'll admit that I have fond memories of this game. I would like to play this game again, even if it does mean having to deal with the BS that comes with the game.
Man, I used to just bring this game to the weird kid's house around the corner and watch him play. Dude had the shine or something.
OG Stuntman was such a great game. Played it at the same time as The Italian Job.
love the editing on this video
Man this brought me back, I’m pretty sure there was a stuntman sequel too
one of my favorite ps2 games as a kid, wish the emulator was fully working with it
This reminds me of the party mode in burnout paradise. Except it's the complete package that you have to chain everything in one go.
Oh God this just unlocked a flood of memories dude...
Making a stunt cars movie is HARD!
2:05 LOL 2:45 The dentist! 3:25 Do a barrel roll! 4:08 Hell yeah, brother!

This need a remake
You just opened a gaping wound in my core memories of not finishing this game, I remember the rickshaw mission but I think I gave up on snowmobile 😂😂😂thanks for that
This is why i play this game and the original hardware including Undercover because issues like these on emulator never happen on the real hardware
It actually depends. Speedrunning community has discovered a plenty of hardware glitches through the years that can't be emulated. But for casual gameplay playing on the actual hardware is way more reliable, I agree.
no way
I bought this game for 3 dollars at GameStop back in the day and I loved it
Stuntman and Stuntman Ignition both are very hard to beat like DARK SOULS I to III. But surprisingly very enjoyable.
This is one of the very few games I have ever 100%'d and honestly, I think it might be the reason I don't have the patience to do that type of thing these days 😂
I remember getting thru the first 2 movies then using a cheat code to unlock everything and play around with my own stunts
I actually found this game quite easy back in the day, it was just a driving game in the end
*Falls of cliff and dies*
"CUT! Wrong way!"
funnily in an actual movie scenario it'd be done in stages with cuts not all at once
ive been stunting so hard rn
Only the real gigachads could finish Stuntman PS2 all the way through without giving up
Whoopin & a hollering was tough for me because I struggled to stick the landing and stop within the box 🙃
that snowmobile Mission will Break men
This is hilariously fun to watch! 😂
Oh my god I played the game that was on PS3, called Stuntman: Ignition. It was one of my favorite games on the system and I didn’t know it had a previous game on the PS2! I wish there was more like it!
genius idea for a game though, wreckfest is great racing game too
No wayyyyy this game came w my ps2. I thought no one knew this game and yeah holy hell its hard
I really enjoyed this game when I was young, especially following on from playing a lot of Driver.
I feel like 100%ing Stuntman: Ignition would be much harder due to the “string it” mechanic.
I loved this game played it all the time as a kid
never played or knew something about this game, the handling looks exactly like a ps2 driver game, I only played parallel lines
The sequel Stuntman:Ignition for the 360 is great.
God I remember scraping through the last movie
This game is so hard that to my knowledge not a single legit deathless run is on TH-cam at all. Keep in mind people have done things like beat Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania games without even getting HIT and other such stuff.
I remember when I finally beat this game 100%! I thought I was going to need therapy afterwards!
4:11 HELL YEAH BROTHER
Ignition was definitely more fun but I'd definitely recommend tracking down the 360 version if you ever play it
the AI with the chase cars doesn't work with hardware mode. But you can swap to software mode to fix it. Like someone mentioned before, AI was controlled in a weird way so software mode runs it close to normal.
This game was hard. Mostly because the physics were a bit off and the director didn't tell you what to do in time. It was so good though.
this is how it feels to play trail out in 2024
3:54 whats song name pls
is a shame many catalogue this game as a simply PS2 tech demo, when in reality it's a completely new gaming genre
Its up there..especially that dukes of Hazzards parody level..but there are harder games
as a die hard fan of the original when it came out. (god i wish they would remake this)
I LOVED seeing the hilarious bugs in this game. shit I have NEVER seen happen before. the smash sfx was hilarious.
I recently found a poster of this game. Only played the demo back then tho.
That looks like really satisfying game to play.
Ah yes, Stuntman. You only play the first movie and stop because you either break the controller from the physics or snapping the disc. Great times!
used to rent this game as a kid it was hard af
This was easily one of the most played game in the early years of my gaming. Being able to create your own scenario in the arena, and use the monster truck to crush cars.. little me just couldn’t get enough. At the same time little me never had the skills to beat the game so.. “YOUR A CHEAT!”
Im feeling better about finding a physical copy of Stuntman instead of emulating now lol. I randomly found it at an antique store for like $10 and I was like "oh I've been wanting to play that, sure."
