    Hey Levy, you’re probably not ever gonna see this, but I just wanna thank you for your effort and time that you put into teaching us, the viewers, chess. I appreciate every second of your video because, you don’t have any filter when you show up in your streams or videos, its just you showing your love for chess. And remember, you shouldn’t care about the haters, or trolls. I know they can be very discouraging, but as a representative of the people who love what you do, we are here to support you! So once again thanks a lot, you’ve been a huge help to me!

    when I was 7 we had a chessboard in class. I didn't know all the rules, just how to move pieces, and we were literally taking the king to win, checkmate wasn't a concept.

    • @dj_koen1265
      @dj_koen1265 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      We used to play without checks as well
      And the king was allowed to put himself into check
      So there was no remise in that variant and instead it was just a loss for whoever had to move his king

My favorite is the 10 min clock and your emphasis on narrating your thought process as you analyze the position each move. Keep it up and I’ll keep thumbs upping. This is John bartholomew level of useful and may even eclipse his rating ladder series in instructional quality.

      Streamers need to stop assuming people are sniping or consulting engines. Even beginners can occasionally see lines or single best moves. I know I’m not good by any means, but once in a while I can get 96% accuracy wins.

    Gotham, you're an angel.
    Thanks for preaching the word of chess.
    I'd like some directions about the concept of grabbing space, specially during the early and mid game. Sometimes you mention that pieces and/or pushing pawns help grabbing space and controlling, but how to play around comitting to certain spaces? Like, how do I play a safe, solid approach specially when it comes to attacking, to pushing forward, controlling more space by re-positioning pieces forward?

    I laughed out loud when you said of your third opponent: "Now he has lost the game, but he had already lost the game here" and for a moment the screen showed the board without a move played... Accurate (as it would be if I played Levy).

    Hey Gotham I started watching your content a few weeks ago and now I’m hooked. I really love how entertaining and educational you make chess. I’m really bad at chess (700) and I’m slowly starting to improve by utilizing some of your tips you give. For example I’m trying not to trade everything so quickly.. anyways, thanks so much for doing your thing and posting as frequently as you do.
    P.S. I everyone here on Jupiter really loves your videos

    Gotham!!! Dude love your content man. I found you on youtube and you have really gotten me back into chess, I learned when I was kid with my grandpa a lot before I moved out of state. I'm usually not the type to reach out and fanboy but I really appreciate how much you put up with on stream to deliver the quality of content that you provide. Unfortunately, there is a lot of toxicity on the internet and I really respect how you handle it. You have earned a long-term fan and I am absolutely going to sub the next time I see you live on twitch. I plan on taking your classes and I hop you much success in this new year. You are making a difference and you should know that.

      @Ad M I mean there is always the chance of course, but it's also a little ridiculous. Can't everytime suspect engine if there are any good moves by lower rated players. Should just only play 3 minute games to drastically lower the chance of engine use. Then leave 5 minutes + games for over-the-board play..

    A lower rated player taking a few seconds on an "obvious" move may well just have a good chess coach - taught that player to check all the lines even when they're sure! It's a good habit when you're learning.
