Missing the top of the checkpoint is a speedrun strat because of the extra time it offers by skipping thr animation. If the idea is the mario bros get through the level as quick as they can, then I think speedrun strats make sense

Then I remembered somebody's comment in the first video about how even in a life-or-death situation, Mario still jumps high and enjoys what he does while he strives to the finish. Powerful Stuff. Even though the two king bills in the back are farther than in the previous video, it still feels so much more nerve wracking, because the slight camera scroll gives the brothers less time to react and all the king bills besides the first two get to Mario closer than before. Small changes are often all it takes to make a great psychological difference.
This strangely fits their personality’s Luigi is rushing through the level as fast as he can, he’s scared and wants to get outta there Mario is pulling off stunts and generally showing off, he’s confident he and Luigi will escape
Cant wait for the toads to join in. I feel like from that point wed see three different styles for this level: Mario: "First time?" / Cool tricks / doesnt care Luigi: *bawling* / Just trying not to die Blue & Yellow Toad: *Fist Bump playing in the background* / Alternating between carrying each other / "Were doing this together"
Story: Mario and Luigi were on their last lives and the finally defeat Bowser's final form. He set his castle on self destruct, sending King Bills to take down the two plumbers along with his castle. Bowser used his last energy and ceased to exist, and his ceasing would pause if both the Mario Bros. were taken down. That's when the scene in the video happens. After Mario and Luigi made it to safety, they are now at the red mountains that the parts of Boswer's castle touched. After the tough run, the two plumbers returned home in their victory. Edit(500 like special): The Bowser "dying" in my story was not actually Bowser, but his prototype clone. The real one just escaped.
I must ask, how is it so perfectly coordinated in design that stopping for 1/2 a second is a death sentence Like reggie is a damm good editor but this is straight up from hell in design
As someone lucky enough to have a brother irl and to grow up with games with, this is how I like to think we clear co-op content. Puts a smile on my face
I like how mario could have made it to the top of the flagpole, but he didnt want luigi to feel bad. So he joined him at the bottom, very wholesome stuff 😁

I like how luigi is just straight booking it, meanwhile mario is doing all the fancy stuff with twirls and triple jumps, even picked up a shell and killed one of the electric balls with it and got the big coin
Here’s a fact I came up with: the fact that Mario’s been through this but with Luigi but Luigi is taller then Mario but when he gets hit he’s shorter than Mario and he’s running under the lighting thing and not even dying
I feel like these are two approaches to challenges. You have Luigi who puts in his all to stay ahead in case of unforeseen events, and then you have Mario, who takes more risks to add some style.
Just a question, I've completed this entire game (even getting a message at the end) but I've never come across this level. Is this a mod? From what I remember, The only level with the huge bullet bills was the cloud level in world 9

I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I really like how this video (and the gameplay) showcase Mario and Luigi’s characters to a tee. One is focused on running for his life, while the other is simply enjoying the game and doing parkour.
I love how you can kinda see their personalities come through. Luigi's just in it for it to be done, and only occasionally goofs off. He twist-jumps to keep his altitude. He goes under the shocker things and hardly ever kills any enemies unless it's unavoidable. Plays it very safe. Mario literally went backwards at the start, does sick flips the whole time, collects all the coins he can, and kills about everything able to be killed without losing speed. He's much more risky, showboating.
Meanwhile, Bowser is with Peavh, both jaw dropped at the fact that the Mario bros survived what would have been the most dangerous level of the New Super Mario Brothers adventure. Bowser would be contemplating life choices while Peach would laugh her ass off.
seeing so many king bills at once makes me realize something lowkey scary: bullet bills look angry when they’re fired at you. banzai bills have a malicious smile. but king bills just look plain *overjoyed* to be leveling everything and everyone in their path, and their eyes are always tracking the player
Luigi trying to escape as quickly as possible, and Mario behind him doing tricks and flips as if his iminite demise isnt inches from killing him fits them very well.
