I don’t generally comment on TH-cam, but I feel I have to. I think that Johnny Cash is timeless. His voice, with its bold yet humble tone, and later in life a tone of a weathered man, speaks to the downtrodden. Those who feel lost, without direction. His voice, moreso than any lyric or instrument(not to say those are not important) contributes to his unmatched ability to speak to anyone. Truly a legend in music and art in general

My Dad loved his music, so we heard Johnny all of our lives....now, my kids love him too. Iconic soul. His voice is too deep to emulate easily, but no matter which octave you start on, the range is incredibly wide. I always end up stumbling and laughing whenever I try to sing a Johnny Cash song.

I had his San Quentin album on an 8-track that I listened to driving back and forth to college on I-95. When I graduated, he came to the Opera house in Wilmington, Del. We went to see him and later Loretta Lynn. I had always wanted to be a singer, I remember watching JC on the tv at my grandparents house and said to myself, that's exactly what I would love to do. I was a fan of his early music and his later self-published albums. I joined the Navy and listened to him up until his death in '03 when I saw him on the cover of Time magazine in the airport coming back from Iraq. He has always been my personal hero. He seemed to be on a mission to sing about the common man, somehow eclipsing so much that brings other artists down right at the start. He is truly a legend.

The first country music concert I ever went to was Johnny cash. And June Carter. It was wonderful! Johnny cash had in a blue shirt with ruffles on the front. He was so handsome. I told my husband man he’s so beautiful. Later I was happy to learn Johnny was friends with Elvis. My husband laughed at me saying Johnny cash was handsome. My husband was a very handsome man himself. It was on Austin Texas. We were in about the tenth row. If I remember right mother Mabel and the girls were there too. It was a good show.

I was born in '72, and I grew up listening to Johnny Cash. Even as a child, I could tell that he was so soecial. Even as a child, my 24yo autistic son could tell how great he was. Johnny didn't have a "perfect singing voice", but you could just FEEL the pain in his words. When June passed away, my Mom said "he won't last long without her", and she wasn't wrong. My brother absolutely HATES his rendition of "Hurt", but if you listen to the words, and watch the video, it's like a knife to the heart. To this day, I still tear up sometimes when I watch that video.

I found it funny that she was from Oklahoma but moved to Texas and her favorite show on TV was Friends. And in a way she hated whites, though she was a white and it almost seemed to me that she also was weird where it came to her students. Just come odd things.

We always had Johnny Cash records playing in our home. I was 8 yrs old when the Folsom Prison album came out and I know that even at that young age I was affected by his songs and his decency.
The man's entire life was a story of salvation; seeking it, giving it, losing it and regaining it. A true American story that he shared with us and we are all the richer for that.

I've had a love for this man and his music since I was only a child. Our lives barely crossed over as I was a day short of 2 years old when he died. But if not for him and the lessons he shared through song, I wouldn't be who I am today. So I say thank you to John R Cash for everything you have shared with the world in life and in death. I say thank you to June Carter for providing the light that he needed in his darkest hours. Thank you to Vivienne for encouraging him in the beginning of his career even when the goings were hard. To John's children, I thank you for sharing with us the legacy of not only your father but your mother and step mother. You have all touched my life in a way that only his music can explain and I am blessed by it daily. Even 16 years later I say thank you, for everything.

There's no need to fear all this time that you won't make it, if you call in the name of Jesus and believe it doesn't matter what you've done, you'll get redemption. Hello Johnny and June Carter Cash Family!
I've watched The Gift twice now. It's truly remarkable. Thank you.
But what I really wanna say about Johnny and June Carter Cash IS, is that I loved them and my family loved them dearly.
Their passings, but especially that of Johnny's, really ripped my heart and soul out. It took my guts, my inner-workings, and threw um on the floor and it was as if the Angel of Death stomped all that into a bloody pile a nothin'.
And as long as I live I'll never get over Johnny's passing. A void is left where Johnny Cash, where the music lived. That's long gone now.
It is extra nice though that such things as this and more are around here on TH-cam though.
The music and the memories are a great comfort to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It's my hope to meet you all again, one day, as I had before in passing to say hello and shake the hands of the children of Johnny and June Carter Cash. Until then God bless you fine folks and your own families.

Unless you count HYPOCRISY as a flaw. Jesus did say... "But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell."... but if you could ask the "money changers" or those who SOLD ANIMALS (I guess anyone who works at 'Petco'is screwed), they would probably tell you that JESUS was ANGRY.
Or, if you think telling his followers to MUTILATE/AMPUTATE their own BODY PARTS in order to avoid SINNING is flawed, he also said... "You shall not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell"... or...
"If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell"... or...
"If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched"
Or if telling them to do what he KNOWS is not even POSSIBLE for a human, such as... "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” ... then he might have had a flaw or 2. There are plenty more examples, but no matter how many there are, those who have been brainwashed their entire lives to believe such nonsense will say some OTHER nonsense about how his words should be interpreted or whatever, but deep down, they get the point, even if they can never admit it... not even to themselves. Just kidding, 😉.
