- Scotland - as part of the UK - has left the European Union, but while our relationship might be changing, EU citizens are still just as welcome as they’ve ever been.
On 1 January 2021 the UK formally left the European Union - but while we may be leaving you, we won’t be leaving what we have together. Today nearly 250,000 EU citizens call Scotland home and their varied cultures and lifestyles help make Scotland such a vibrant, inclusive nation.
We also know that there are many more who dream of joining this number and want to make Scotland their new home. So, we want you to know that we’ll always be open to you and the warm welcome that Scotland is so famous for will always be waiting for you on our shores.

Freedom for Catalonia
I hope Spain does not veto any potential Scottish reintegration into the EU, due to internal constitutional wrangling over Catalonia, especially if PP regain control of Spanish government. This could be a huge problem for Scotland. But remember that if that happens then it would be Scotland’s prerogative to deny access to Spanish fishing fleet. It is all wishful thinking at the moment as Boris will undoubtedly shut down any possibility of a second independence referendum.

My best friend is scottish but lives in Minehead in Somerset UK. Some years ago I found out that I have an ancestor from Scotland who came over to fight for the swedish king John III in the late sixteenth century. His son moved to Finland and from him the line goes down to my mother. I am proud over my drop of scottish blood and am also very moved by this video. Alba gu bràth.

We made a decision to remain a member of the United Kingdom in 2014 and we voted to cut all unionist ties with the European Union in 2016 so leaving lights on all over the place bears zero significance to anything. Those were the choices WE made.

Dudley, we understand how you feel in England having to put up with governments and insane decisions like leaving the EU , all because the older generations have voted the Tories into power and also voted to leave the EU.
Unfortunately the older generations have been very easily brainwashed by the deeply corrupt, billionaire owned and run, right wing press (such as The Daily Mail, Daily Express and The Sun etc) and hence they were the ones who managed to narrowly carry Brexit over the line in England especially in the 2016 referendum.
(Yet it should be the youth that carries any nation forward for it is their futures that are mostly at stake)
We had the same issue in the Scottish Independence referendum, in 2014, whereby it was mainly the votes of the older generations that prevented Scotland becoming free of the corrupt, broken Westminster system at that time.
Again the older generations in particular were clearly brainwashed by the deeply corrupt, billionaire owned and run, right wing press. And this time not only papers such as The Daily Mail, Daily Express and The Sun etc but also ever single newspaper available in Scotland was 'unionist' and fought against Scottish independence and promoted a campaign of scaremongering (except for the Sunday Herald which only came out once a week).
However since Sept 2014 , huge amounts of voters in Scotland whom voted 'No' to Scottish Indy have woken up and this is why we have seen the last 17 polls in Scotland all be in favour of Scottish independence with percentages up as much to 58%.
There should be light at the end of the tunnel for voters in England who want radical change and to get rid of the Tories and to rejoin the EU.
Once Scotland is free from Westminster rule, it will inevitably instigate complete political reform in England too and I would imagine most younger English votes will get rid of the Tory / right wing government and install a government that moves more in the direction Scotland is heading whereby politics become far more progressive and green and move towards a more 'Nordic' approach. Something certainly needs to radically change in England, especially for the younger generations.
I'm sure Scotland and England will find themselves as very good neighbours in the next 5 to 10 years and the political landscape of each separate country will look a lot more democratic.
Gone will be the massive resentment that the majority of Scottish voters have felt for decades.
An Indy Scotland can and will provide inspiration to the people of England on which political direction they should take.
We already have seen huge glimpses of this whereby the devolved SNP and Green government of Scotland has brought in many progressive policies since 2007 onwards that huge amounts of England's voters would love to see in England too.
Once Scotland has full freedom from Westminster we can make huge reforms that will further inspire not only England, but many other countries throughout the world.
(PS: and here's to the collapse of the corrupt ,tax avoiding, billionaire owned and run right wing press and media for they only care or speak for the elite , mega rich few)
