      Put a 60 foot Honeybee header or a 62 foot GTS Brazilian header on your 8250 for more production in those soybeans.
      You will be impressed by a big head and your combine will have no problem pushing that width thru those beans.@@LEAADFarms

    According to Merriam- 🎉 Webster The word skosh comes from the Japanese word sukoshi, which is pronounced "skoh shee" and means "a tiny bit" or "a small amount." The Japanese word was shortened by U.S. servicemen stationed in Japan after World War II.

    YO Cale! Devo / Whip it... That a totally RAD song for a farmer! "When a problem comes along, you must whip it... When something's going wrong, you must whip it!" Classic 80's song. 10:00 - Shark tires are very cool looking but are they $1300.00 of $13000.00 a-piece? The engineering complexity of a combine is insane... very cool! Though I would compare it to SpaceX then a Tesla, which is way more impressive. Cool Ranch Doritos is the best! Great video Cale... Thanks for sharing.

    Way back when on my Dad and Uncle's farm they had an International 1460 Axel-Flow rice special (Which I believe was the first generation of rotary combine), but also used it to harvest Corn. That rice rotor was so aggressive that it would grind up the corn unless going really slow, so we would swap the whole rotor between harvesting rice and corn. That was alway a fun job that took a day or so. Now they can probably just push a button and get enough adjustment.

    Amazing machinery for sure. More importantly, as a nonfarmer, one sentence from the whole video taught me something i didn't know. There is only one ear per stalk. I always assumed there were 3 or 4 per plant. It just seems unreal that you get so much corn when there is so much mulch created from the rest of the plant. I thought you might have misspoken so i confirmed with Google. I should have never doubted you, thanks for today's lesson! 🥸✌️

    Skosh: "A little bit". It comes from Japanese "Sukoshi". It came to USA after WW2 when US servicemembers shorted "Sukoshi" to "skosh". A lot of people have the mistaken belief that it came from the Midwest US, or from Yiddish, but it did not. It's actually from Japan.

    The unknown button is for if you are under attack in a zombie apocolypse. It sends out scud missiles. Also, you talked about "oncoming traffick in the corn field"...Laura and Grant were combining near the highway and they found someone had come off the highway, into the field and knocked down some of their stalks, then was able to turn and drive away. They were just like "what the heck???" Part of the fence was knocked down and some of it was IN the field! They didn't know exactly when it happened, but, it seemed to have not happened much earlier. I was just thinking that "if only they had a camera mounted there" just to be able to SEE that happening!

      Very good questions. Yes and yes, we call them volunteer corn.

    • @HurairahHomestead
      @HurairahHomestead 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Crop rotation was learned during the medieval period. It's a very common practice. I do the same here. The problem with growing just one crop over and over endlessly is that it depletes the soil of the nutrients that crop needs. Another issue with crop non-rotation is that planting the same thing all the time gives pests more chances to show up. Like if you plant corn every year, you'll get pests that will start moving in and they write letters to their pest friends telling them about the great thing that they have going and so, more will move in till you're just overrun with pests. So, that's why you don't want to grow the same thing every year.
      In a lot of food, the things that you eat are really seeds. Someone challenged me about lentils "you can't grow supermarket lentils" and I was like "oh yeah? Well, watch THIS!" I planted some supermarket bought lentils and...they sprouted and are growing!
