I actually don’t mind the cyclops... I watch a lot of watch reviews, this is quite good. I would say I’m am quite sick of people talking constantly about dive watches and being true dive watches etc. A true dive watch is called a dive computer no divers use mechanical movement watches to seriously dive and they haven’t for years. This is just a style of watch, like a pilots watch or a chronograph
I really like the cyclops. I’m a watch guy and my major complaint with a lot of watches is I can’t see the date window very good. Man I just bought this watch last weekend and I just love it!!!
Only reason I see that they've popped the elongated Cyclops on there is because its a mythical creature and they wanted to stick with the whole Monster theme ;)
I got the "Samurai black and gold" love it. After 3 days of mountain bike riding the watch is still keeping excellent time. Having said that i plan on buying a demagnitizer, which seems to fix a lot of minus/plus issues of mechanical watches.
I like to have day/date complication, don't mind specialy the ciclops, but I'm waiting for a all metallic colour bezel like the old one, but I must admit that with the black bezel looks better than with the others colours.
Agreed. I spent some time with the king turtle and the cyclops started to grow on me. I hope when they do the standard finish on the bezel they set the crown in the case again too. Sitting on top of the shroud ended up bothering me more than the cyclops but for the same reason.
On a professional dive watch that nobody uses for a dive watch! I love the cyclops if it magnifies. If it magnifies of course you can see it Better as it appears bigger!
I have this watch in all black... love the cyclops. Love the watch entirely. And, it DOES help for those of us who wear readers. In fact, I would have bought a Submariner a long time ago if they had a cyclops.
Pretty much agree with you but I would add the crown should be inset otherwise why does the shroud go that far?... I'm probably going to pass on this..
I know I know, I just dont care for it. They took a really tough watch and added a hardlex cyclops, exposed the crown and put a scratchable dark coating on the bezel. If they switched to a push/pull crown this would have been the monster equivalent of the 5KX.
I get it, just looks odd. Like if a Scurfa had a cyclops. Also, the crown isnt sunk into the shroud which makes it kinda pointless. They took what was a very purpose built line and added fashion elements.
Too much negativity on yr review without referring that this is a 300 dollars Seiko watch! Cyclops meant for tool watch, I dont see too much issie on that! It adds value n looks to the watch! I love this new gen 4 Seiko Monster n will buy the Padi version soon.
There's plenty of confirmation bias on YT if you go look for it. My opinion is still that this is the weakest monster they've done. No need to magnify day/date on a tool diver, the coating on the bezel scratches easily and the crown is no longer protected by the shroud. Even at 300 there is better out there. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
It is the only reason I would buy this watch....because it has a cyclops. Its a practical addition so that you can actually clearly see the date . I think the phrase your looking for is 'for me' or in my opinion! Why a Seiko anyway? Completely overpriced and under specked tat
Clearly you're under 40. By the time you're in your late 40's and realize you can't read the date windows, sub dials, micro hashes on the bezel etc cyclops becomes essential. If you cant read the dials it's not an instrument, it's jewelry. If it's just jewelry it needn't have a movement at all. Lol, you're going to "understand it", just give it a few years...
LOL I'm sure I will. While I still don't like the cyclops on the moster, the execution on the king turtle has grown on me to the point that I recently purchased the dark manta.

I am a diver and using dive computer but always have a dive watch set when start diving and a US navy dive table with me as a back up. Just in case.
I really like the cyclops. I’m a watch guy and my major complaint with a lot of watches is I can’t see the date window very good. Man I just bought this watch last weekend and I just love it!!!
I have this watch and I really like the candy bar magnifier
Quit lying. Don’t nobody like that damn thing
Great to have the Cyclops, reallyl !
I like the cyclops. You pushing your own opinion here honestly
Correct. The video isnt trying to sell you the watch. Everything outside of the specs is 100% opinion.
whey you have more than 45 YRO you will appreciate Cyclops. Actually I will decide for this vs samurai just for that feature
Yeah the shape on this one kills me but I get it.
I strongly believe seiko should make the entire face magnified
Maybe magnify everything but the day/date. It would be the monster equivalent to that swatch with the winding rotor on the dial.
i love the cyclops
Well then youre a winner. It you like it the watch is a steal at the price. I see them new for under 300 USD often.
I have one and hate it
Only reason I see that they've popped the elongated Cyclops on there is because its a mythical creature and they wanted to stick with the whole Monster theme ;)
Well i guess monsters are supposed to be ugly anyway so i guess it makes sense lol

I agree 100%. It's hideous. My new Monster just arrived yesterday and I could not stand it any longer. Today the cyclops is gone. Such a relief.
Gentlemen, a dive watch must have a cyclops! You have to be able to see clearly under the water how many days and months you've been under water!
I like to have day/date complication, don't mind specialy the ciclops, but I'm waiting for a all metallic colour bezel like the old one, but I must admit that with the black bezel looks better than with the others colours.

I have one of these. The chapter ring/dial/bezel alignment on mine is absolutely awful.
It really sucks that misalignment is still a major issue with Seiko. Lately Ive even seen some of the more spendy divers having the same issues.
I'm waiting to see if my bid on one gets accepted 😃
Need the cyclops.
At 51...I love the cyclops!
Pretty much agree with you but I would add the crown should be inset otherwise why does the shroud go that far?... I'm probably going to pass on this..
1000000% agree. Its forgivable IMO but now the shroud becomes more fashion statement and less functional tool. Not the best direction for this line.
I own the SBDY115 and SBDY105 Save the Ocean Antarctica Monster watches and love both . The cyclops doesn’t bother me at all.
Different strokes for different folks. It doesn't bother me on my manta turtle. i just don't like it here.
Also have both the save the ocean’s. Really awesome
Sorry man by the cyclops is what I love about it. I would actually put one on.
Agree to disagree.
@@hammondwatch2808 maybe they should offer the Watch with or without. That way everyone is happy.
@@billrhea Yes. And on the no cyclops one put the crown back behind the shroud. I like the execution on the turtle tho.
Good honest review
Is that dial just flat black, or does it have kind of a sunray effect?
This isn't a watch review. It's a cyclops hate rant.
You can remove that cyclops quite easily. There are a lot of tutorials about how to do it.
I know I know, I just dont care for it. They took a really tough watch and added a hardlex cyclops, exposed the crown and put a scratchable dark coating on the bezel. If they switched to a push/pull crown this would have been the monster equivalent of the 5KX.
Another boomer liking the cyclops.
Love the cyclops
it works!!!
Thank for the review, but I think the Tissot V8 or a Eco drive are better choices with the same cost.
Tissot v8 does not look as cool as this one for me…
Let me completely understand. You hate the cyclops, right?
Nope. Love it. Wish it had 2 more.
Love the cyclops
@@hammondwatch2808 2 more? Where would you put them 🤔
@@vinnybrozzza4196 One at 7 and one on the caseback
The tsunami bigger the better it is all part of Seiko divers.
Yeah but this is a pretty contemporary design. I dont know if it would have fit with the design.
I agree cyclops need to be done away with. The water looks so much better without it
Not that good looking for a $330 Seiko.SEIKO IS KING!!
It's so easy to take the cyclops off...using a lighter for a few moments and off it pops!
I get it, just looks odd. Like if a Scurfa had a cyclops. Also, the crown isnt sunk into the shroud which makes it kinda pointless. They took what was a very purpose built line and added fashion elements.

The cyclops is great... You are being a nerd about it. Do you dive?
