Live performance mishaps, you say? Well, being a gigging and touring musician for nearly 40 years and a few hundred gigs, I've had my share. Had an amp blow a tube right after a performance. It was an old early 70's Fender Twin. While checking that out, my guitar slipped off the strap pin and hit the ground headstock first, raising the fretboard away from the neck. That was 1983. I then found out about straplocks. Had my bassist step on my cable, pulling it out of the jack of the amp, and tipped the Randall head onto the ground. My old Nady wireless got interference along the lines of Nigel's wireless in Spinal Tap. While carrying in a Randall 4x12 cabinet through a side entrance into the venue, I hit my forehead on the top of the door, cutting my head and dropped the cabinet on my feet. And, then during the show since it was so hot, the sweat opened the wound and I had blood pouring down my face. Breaking a string on a guitar with a Kahler is always interesting as well. Thankfully that only happened once. Slipped in a puddle of beer (or something) on a stage up in Goshen, IN and landing flat on my back and the ends of my Flying V smacked the floor. Thankfully I was 23 and got back up. Now, I'd be down for a week and a half. Hitting the button for the stage tuner instead of the boost for a solo. Hitting other members of the band with my guitar or getting hit by other members guitars, mic stands, drum sticks, cymbal parts. Pedal board power failing at an outdoor gig and rushing to plug a cable directly in. Various other string breakages over the years, which is one reason I always take at least two guitars to every gig. I couldn't tell you how many dropped picks I've had so they're everywhere as well. I had to repair the jack on my Les Paul right before a gig because the nut and washers fell off and the jack was inside the guitar. What have I learned? Always have a backup amp for my tube amps. Have extra cables, strings, batteries, tool kit, guitar, strap, tuner (stage and clip on), power strips and power cables, speaker cables and extra microphones and cables for my live sound. There's probably a lot more than I can remember but those are some that stand out. The show must go on.

We were playing a block party type gig for a friend of ours a couple years ago where we were using a couple of flatbed trailers for a stage. One large for the front and a smaller one centered behind the other for the drum riser.
Halfway through a set, I decided to jump up on the riser for dramatic effect. On my way back to the front of the "stage", one foot didn't place itself where I told it to resulting in it falling between the two trailers. I took a dive almost doing the splits in the process, all the while never dropping my guitar or missing a beat.
Ironically, the song we were playing...
    Holy Diver by Dio.

I have wanted a Gibson Les Paul for years. I have fought with choosing one for a long time. I just don’t know why I should pull the trigger and buy a standard over buying a studio. I love the fact that the standards come with a hard case as opposed to a bag with a studio. I just don’t know or can’t figure out if the 1000.00 difference is worth it. What are your thoughts?

That goes to show how far modelling has come. The guitar and pickup characteristics shine right through. I plugged a sweet Fender Strat in to my very complicated 5 cable/tube/modelling/412 cabbed/stereo monstrosity that is my tone machine and was just floored by the clean tones and Gilmour lead type tones I was getting. Unreal. That 60hz hum was fucking bananas though, thats something I don't miss.
Methinks I need a Strat or a 60s Classic Vibe 3 tone burst Squier, which are incredible by the way, especially with a couple simple upgrades like saddles, pots, jack and locking tuners

If you'll allow an unsolicited response, I think if you do yourself the favor of venturing out into today's amp technology I think you'll be very impressed. The is a world of difference between solid-state (which in-and-of itself has changed a lot and for the better) and digital technology which has become so sophisticated even a well-trained ear can often be fooled, it is really THAT good. I have a Fender Mustang 1 v2 and am about to get into the Marshall Code series.
Go to your music store, ask a billion questions and test drive 3 or 4. I bet you'll like what you learn. Good luck!

How do cords get tangled by just looking at them?
Years ago when the NADY Wireless transmitter for guitar came out right around the advent of the memory man digital echo stomp box, Getting rid of any cord sounded good to me... The Problem with the NADY system is it transmitted on a VHF signal and at the time you would use a home stereo receiver and tune in your transmitter to an open station, Problem being the signal band would not always be open... In the middle of a set, The receiver may pick up a local station and broadcast over the PA or a CB operator bleeding through...I got rid of that piece of S#it when it tuned in on a KC & Sunshine band playing "Thats the way I Like it" and the ladies went cray, But at the time we were trying to stomp out DISCO... So we were lip syncing by force... I am sure the new tech has improved that problem... ???

My biggest mishap was trying to keep up shot for shot with my drummer before a gig. Got so bombed I forgot all the words to all of the songs that I only had a week to learn in the first place. It turned into an instrumental gig with me mumbling like Jim Morrison or some shit. After about 20 minutes my bass player comes up to me and says is there anything you remember words to? We did about 20 minutes of Elvis songs with really heavy guitar tones. That was the first and last time i drank before a show. You wont feel buzzed or drunk until the lights come on. The heatwave of the lights and adrenaline kicks in and holy shit 3 shots and beer felt like I had the whole 5th.

Good video, Robert! At least he had a spare battery. I was at an open mic and my friend's battery died on her acoustic. She said, "Jim, I can't get my tuner to work!" The battery is dead. "Do you have a battery?" I'm playing a Telecaster, I don't have one in this bag.... Thank goodness there was a Walmart LITERALLY next door, so we scooted over and got a battery (I didn't want her walking to/from by herself at night.) I keep two x 10 year Duracell batteries in my acoustic bag.

Second song in!!!! during some crazy chug to fast legato runs with full pitch bends on the B string. That damn string broke and stabbed me through the thumb on my fretting hand, i had to mid song figure out how to play the rest of that song plus the 5 that followed on the fly with a bloodied sticky hand slowing me up! I've always loved tube amps but currently run an old Line 6 Spider II 2x12 combo. It does the job as I don't gig any longer. I've also got a Crate V100 head but I lit something on fire inside years back from installing tubes drunk & haven't looked into that since. My last awesome tuber was an early 80's Acoustic G100T hardwood combo that I had worked by Jose Arredondo and it was outstanding, so much so it was stolen twice...
And yes, SPL is SPL, more cones don't change math. More speakers have to be equated into the draw on the power circuit of the amp. If an amp can handle it, dropping the ohms can suck more wattage to the output but if the amp can't handle it, you're smokin' an amp...

  • @danielbuhr4260
    @danielbuhr4260 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As for the first question(s), my response: tube amps all day, unless you are in a worship band, or working on a musical set or orchestra/jazz band or something like that and need to keep volume low. If you are playing in a rock band, indie, metal, jazz, country, or folk, you want a tube amp. As far as micing amps on stage, if your amp is miced, you probably want a small to mid range sized amp. If you are not miced, you want a mid range to large wattage amp. As for the amount of speakers, this is preference. Personally I like 1-12 or 2-12 combo amps for the ease of transportation, and they sound great. But if you have a truck or van, and want a fuller sound go for the 4x12.
Last tip, if you are considering buying solid state/ digital, buy something new. Don't bother trying to use a device from 10-20 years ago, as the tech is outdated and will annoy the fuck out of you.

While I am a huge fan of the Marshall's, always will be however for gigging this year I switched to a Kemper. I really hated it at first. It took me a while to figure it out and get used to it. Now I can use nothing but it. My set up and tear down time is 5-10 minutes. I have the Kemper stage I mounted to a Temple Audio pedal board, Also on the pedal board is a couple external pedals my wireless system. Then it is all in a flight case with wheels. I literally roll in to a gig, I have 2 guitars in mono dual guitar bag in the other hand. I unpack run to front of house and done. This has solved so many issues, my primary guitar is the Majesty, my secondary is fender Accoustasonic, which I use to full advantage. One song we do is Meredith Brooks Bitch, which I play acoustic in the verse, electric in the chorus, and electric with WAH during the guitar solo the other guitarist does. All the same volume levels easy as stomping on a switch and flipping pickups. We could never have pulled this off before the Kemper. So while I love my Marshalls, we are just a small band gigging out once or twice a month. Its just too much to carry around and fight with anymore.
My worst stage scenario is not really that bad, I ran with a lot of band and band guys since the 80s; I listened to them all tell their problems like this and done the absolute best to try to plan for the worst. I really have had some great mentors. Also I was a guitar tech for a small band before I had my own band. I used to keep track of battery install dates, now everything I have with batteries are rechargeable so I just change the batteries once a week if they need it or not or before a show everything is on chargers. I have a case I also take with me spare strings, spare cables of every kind, and guitar tool kits. I had strap locks on my guitar before I ever took stage. That being said, worst one was a Marshall amp in an amp stand and the stand collapsed. Luckily nothing broke. Had to set it all back up. However another guitarist in a band of mine I repeatedly told him get strap locks. Sure enough middle of a show, strap came off his Les Paul, snapped head stock off mid show and of course he didn't have a spare. The dude still didn't get strap locks until it came off again during practice once.

As someone once told me and I believe it was a TH-cam video that you always want to have a good tube amp. Technology like the Axe fx 3 is going to be outdated in a couple years and they're going to get continue to get updated versions of equipment. This was sometimes to the point where you cannot get any updates anymore for that particular unit. But you can always rely on your good tube amp if maintained well.

That was probably Glenn Fricker. And there is a lot of truth to that. You don’t see very many people at all using the Eleven Rack that was popular about 10-12 years ago. That thing sold for about $1500 or so, if memory serves. Now you can find them used for around $200-300. It wasn’t a bad piece of gear at all, it just went obsolete.

  • @MFKR696
    @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Fun fact: You can run a tube pedal into a solid-state or digital amp and the amp will not magically remove the tube aspects of your tone. The main problem people have with specifically solid-state equipment (digital is another animal altogether) is that they reproduce *exactly* what you put into them, which can leave them sounding somewhat brittle and peaky if you don't know how to use it. As for me, though, I have a wonderful solid-state Crate GX30M (1x12" combo with chorus and 'verb) practice/recording amp that I will never give up. It doesn't have a good lead channel at all (just 3 controls: Level, "Shape" and Gain), but its clean channel, with its series tone-stack (each tone-stack pot has an effect on the one that comes after it) has been the basis of all of my effect-laden tones since I was in high-school. These days, plugged into my modelling rig, it gets me exactly where I need to go. I'm aware that buying effects to make an amp sound good sounds silly, and it is, but it's the most versatile amp I've ever played. It can do anything, and apart from it's somewhat weak driver, it can handle pretty much anything. The cab is super skookum, too. Solid as hell. You could probably string it up to a crane and wreck small buildings with it lol.
One thing about a good solid state amp is that they make great pedal platforms, and there's something to be said for the chunk, sizzle and immediacy that you can only get with a solid-state power section, and if you want that tube warmth, all you have to do is throw a tube-driven pedal/preamp in the mix. The amp won't "de-tubify" your tone. It's great for metal, which is why the Krankenstein used a tube preamp coupled to a solid-state power-amp for that sizzle and in your face presence. I know alot of people don't like Dime's tones, but they were what got me wanting to play guitar seriously in the first place. The first time I heard Cowboys From Hell was a total life-changer for me. Before that, I was a stereotypical "child of the KoRn", guitar hanging at the ankles Nu-Metal kid. Not my proudest moment lol. As for digital, I use lots of VST amp sim software, and they're great for practicing or jamming along to some tunes, but a digital amp or modelling software has no place in a recording studio. Digital's great for practice, song-writing and live rigs, but for recording, you need something with a little more oomph and none of the aliasing problems that even the best digital sims/modellers have.

The biggest problem I found with programmable gear is it's usually programmed by the user at home, and the presets don't necessarily translate into a beneficial sound in a band. Then the player spends half the practice time playing with the programming or trying out the hundreds of presets. It's just easier to turn knobs on an amp or a pedal.

My bass-mate played (still does) a 6-string Warwick bass. After a couple of songs the headstock of the Warwick-monster went „somehow“ under the Tremolo-system of my Peavey...and levered it out...completely 😂 I never played again the Vandenberg live again. My mate since then never again dared to share the same stage-side with me. Since 2 years we play again together in a band...still best friends until today 😊

The note about amps as side fills: had Kit thought of that. Do you notice a decrease in stage volume on stages with curtains? Or large capacities (ie, more people=more sound dampening/absorption)? I’m a player/singer/all-around musician as well as an old stagehand/roadie(sometimes a “stationary,” meaning an engineer/tech in a roadhouse), and I’d be interested in the effectiveness of this across the board. Also, Seismic Audio - critical thoughts? Finally, is the Peavey OB or CB, because compressive/dimension (ie, finite vs infinite baffle vs infinite volume or reflective surface behind may also be a factor in its relative louder-ness. Just some thoughts…

    Had a couple embarrassing moments.
1st one my band was playing at a local venue around here. We had 3 guitar players. Well I was the rhythm guitar player most of the time. A duel solo comes up with the 2 other guitarist and my part was just a simple very heavy riff to lay down in the back ground and me and the bass player are doing the back to back thing and he stepped on my cord (stupidly i didn't know about wrapping the cord around my strap end yet) and he ripped the jack out of my guitar! We both kinda froze and stared at each other for a minute. The show was going great so I just kinda winged it. One of our buddies was helping out "tech" and "roadie" duties and he already went behind the stage to grab my backup guitar so. I took the guitar off and just threw it as high as i could off the side of the stage in a "FUCK YEAH ROCK AND ROLL" kinda moment. (It was a cheap bolt on Dean V think I paid $150 bucks for it. I didn't care if it broke.)
2nd was a local band competition we entered. We get to the venue. Unload. Set up our stage. Go to get my SG. Open the case. Snapped Headstock. It was the only guitar I brought because we only had 1 song and I assumed i wouldn't need a back up for 1 song.. Well.. I was wrong. Thankfully one of the dudes in the other bands (we were all friends after all and all partied together after shows and shit.) He saw me open the case and saw the broken headstock and he was already in the process in tuning up his back up for me. Well. His Backup was a a schecter or esp with EMGs. Halfway thru our song the batteries died. I took the guitar off. And just ran into the crowd trying to hype everyone up for us. It was fun we all got a good laugh, but man it was a rough day.
This last one doesn't include me directly buttt one of my good friends. He had a Line 6 Spyder Valve Half stack. We aren't sure what happened but... About halfway through his set his amp starts buzzing extremely loudly. HIs signal cuts out. Thing starts smoking, and catches fire. Turned out to be pretty damn epic.

I promise these are the last comments on the video.. one: I would also argue that, along with onstage catastrophes, you probably aren’t a real old-school guitarist unless the cops have been called at least once, whether in-regard to volume or suspected substance-related behavior. I’ve had three occurrences of volume-related bluelightery. Two parties and one rehearsal, and only one of these was not at my residence. A party at a friend’s on 7/4!resulted in the cops being called from two blocks over. Two in my neighborhood resulted in apologies from the neighbor and cops - make that three, then - as all were enjoying the music until after 10, and that’s justified. And they all waited until the set was over before knocking. Two: multiple string breaks where no one noticed because I compensated immediately, and one cut guitar cable when I was opening for another band. We showed up for a sound check, and they were late. I sounded like the Beatles trying to play Tool, but apparently enjoyably. Everybody left the dance floor after we stopped playing and the headliners came on. Smoking a j with them after the gig, they apologized about rolling their cab over my cable, and we had or Brit friend playing roadie for us and running our lighting. They said, “Wait.. you have a British roadie?” “Yeah, somebody had to run the light board.” “Wait - the venue had a light board?” “No, we borrowed it and the lighting from a friend of ours.” “So you had a roadie - a British roadie, AND you brought you own lights and board?!” “Yeah.. doesn’t everybody?” “Fuck us man.. we got some work to do..”

With how its for guitar-related questions, not sure if this question fits here or not, but here goes:
I want to start a small band (metal, not too picky on the subgenre) and I've been trying to for quite some time now, but I am having quite a bit of difficulty finding other people for it. A while back I found a bass player by making a flyer and posting it up at a local community college, but to make a long story short, he did not want to practice and backed out of it. Outside of that whole thing, I have found no one. Any tips?

I have a question that I can't seem to get an answer for: the low-down on "power conditioners". Are they worth the money to a hobbyist that mostly plays at home (a show every once in awhile, jam sessions)? Why does there seem to be a rather limited selection to choose from? The wiring in my house is crap (renting, historic neighborhood) and I think it's one of the biggest culprits to my sound. Looking forward to your thoughts on the issue.

We soldiered through, it was an original song so nobody noticed the difference lol. I will say I redeemed myself a few songs later when the mic went out and I never stopped singing. Weird position for all involved lol. Start taking a step back to get away from this guy. 2 steps later trip on a cymbal stand, fall back lights out for me lol. Come to and I busted the face of the bass drum and drunk fell spilling his beer in a monitor. The guitar never held tuning again. Think the set neck wasn't so set anymore 🤣. Speaking of amps, i've gotta share my inexperience. So I bought an Epiphone and an Orange Crush 20 to begin my journey, along with Rocksmith (see my Facebook post). So Ive had it not quite a year yet, but I just found out, if you plug headphones into the Crush, it has a cabinet simulator that only works thru the heasphones jack. I spent three hours playing the three songs I know over and over. It was like having a new rig! Completely new experience. What I'm getting at, I've not played through any exotics whatsoever, no JCMs, no H&K, no 5150, no Boogie, and while I'd love to some day, it sure is fun being ignorant and excited about something new and unique. There's something to that... Especially with all the tools, sims and effects available to us now versus 40 years ago. Perhaps I am being naive? 😂

7:41 Adding more speakers DOES increase volume. Double the cone area means a 3db boost, which is equal to double the power. IE 50w/1x12=100w/2x12; 50w/4x12=100w/2x12. There are more factors to consider, like speaker efficiency and impedances, closed cab vs open, etc. But the theory is SOUND.
The last bit of the question is wrong; ten times the power equals to an increase of 10db which in psychoacoustics is considered double the perceived loudness (perceived loudness =/= power) and it's much louder than the doubling of the speakers

I know there's a massive interest out there right now with the lunchbox amp heads and even a resurgence in combo amps as being the new stage gear. But I'm old school and nothing is better than 4x12 cabinets, for both sound and aesthetics on a stage. If you're hanging in clubs and bars? 100watts might be a bit overkill but hey I love em, but a 50watt is more than enough to do the job and you WILL be heard. No micing even necessary, just like the days of old!

The Axe FX is a different animal when I turn the dial I am not in a new patch I am on another amplifier. The controls on the amplifier are represented etc. Rarely do you need to change anything but the pre or EQ a little bit. If you pair the AXE with a computer the AXE-EDIT rules! you literally drag and drop the pedals you want in the order you want like a pedalboard

Digital tech may have advanced, but the typical aliasing, noise-leakage (specific to VST sims), ADA (analog/digital/analog) converter-loss (degradation of tone that is caused when a signal runs through the AD/DA convertors), and latency problems have not gone away. If you don't know what I mean by "noise leakage", it's that asymmetrical buzzing, digital "beep boop" crackling noise that cannot be killed by a noise-gate or lifting the ground loop. It's caused by electromagnetic "leakage" within the computer itself, and it shows up even on clean tones, specifically with Bias FX. For some reason, Amplitube is much quieter on my rig than Bias is. If all the noise it was making was the typical hum associated with guitar amps, I would have no problem with it, but the sounds it's currently making are rather invasive and distracting.
I could chalk it up to it maybe being a result of me needing to buy a better interface with better driver support, but the interface I have is no slouch. In terms of specs, it's right up there. All I know is that my dead-clean Bias FX presets shouldn't be "beep-booping" and hollering when there isn't even anything plugged into it. Unfortunately, this could be the result of me not paying enough attention to EM leakage when building my rig. My only concern was maximum performance with maximum storage and memory. I don't think the excessive monster of a graphics-card, or the over-clocks I'm running are helping things either, being that the GPU is probably the second largest source of EM leakage in my entire computer, behind the power supply itself of course. Maybe I should just build Faraday Cages around all of the EM "hot-spots" in my computer lol jk.

Here are some questions for you. I have some cheap guitars that are between 500 and $1,000, not the cheap cheap ones of course. My question is with all the digital modeling sometimes if the guitar has some decent pickups, I don't always need to change them out. I can throw an extra Overdrive pedal on it or EQ and almost sound the same. I understand that some pickups have more clarity. I find that Imports are getting better and better and sometimes all you really need is put on a set of locking tuners that would help tuning issues. Okay to the point I've had some PRS SE's that played really well. I have an American PRS 1997 CE. Now because people frown on somebody having Imports versus American guitars when you play in the band. I'm trying to go for a used PRS Custom 22. Yet sometimes I feel that I don't need to waste all that money. I agree that quality and play ability is important if you're doing some gigs. If you have good units like the Line 6 helix or ax8 or some of those other effect units, I think you can be able to use a lot of these lower quality inexpensive guitars. Keep in mind I'm not talkin about a couple hundred dollar guitars here, I'm talking about the 500 to a thousand maybe a little over a thousand dollars. What is your opinion on this?

Just bought a Vox tube amp and I'm not the biggest fan. It was my first Vox and will be my last. Nothing wrong with it, its just not me. There is no way that ANY IC circuit will ever sound like a tube. Close ? Maybe but never quite the same. I don't know how to explain it but there's something you feel while playing with tubes that you don't feel with IC's. I guess maybe that deep earthy grunt that you get from tubes as opposed to transistors / IC's.

Another time I did a bit of roadie work and was paid in beer but never got to drink with sorting stuff out, the one night I decided to get drunk the guitarist had bought a new marshall stack and was playing well until his sound died, his new amp was on but no sound, I sobered up very quickly and sussed out that his lead was faulty, whilst he was playing I went through 3 of his leads then his mates leads 2 of till I found one that worked, he got ribbed for that 2500 amp and all his leads were crap 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Not in an arena show. But yes as the tech gets better it will be less and less.
As far as any large show all you need to do is look at the gear and theres a couple tube amps one for redundancy. You need the tube amps with cabs to push air. Overall its tube power.
Modeling depends on the PA in most cases and many clubs have questionable systems except the higher end venues.
John Mcglaughin was one of the few ive seen go straight into the board but he was using a mesa v twin and hes jazz.
None or at lest very few big metal or hard rock bands use Kempers or modeling exclusively in arena. Theres pretty much always a tube power source.
On the other hand Steve Howe and the extra Doobie Bro both use line 6 variac guits with a helix and they sound decent at lower volumes.
Could a person get by and sound great with modeling? Of course they could and have less problems. The overall sound is not as good but thats to my tastes.
Its not that the tech doesnt sound good. It just doesnt sound as good.
Would I use a Kemper or Axe? Heck ya but I would plug it into my Marshall power amp. Ive been using digital for 20 years. Im not a luddite purist .

Tone is very easy it all comes down to one thing and one thing only does it sound good to you. If you say yes then thats all that matters its a personal choice and we all like different tones. If everyone liked the same set up how shitty would guitar music be?...very shitty in my opinion. For myself, maybe some others, practice and skill is a lot more important right now in my guitar journey. So Robert if you know of an amp that will make me sound better tomorrow do video and I will buy one. lol

Was there a single first hand experience or piece of knowledge in this video? It sounded like you just watched a bunch of people on TH-cam and the regurgitated their thoughts on these questions. On a different point. Why do you like/love every single comment in the comment thread. It’s kinda weird.

Of course. I don’t do videos on topics I don’t have any experience with. I click the like or dislike button on most of the comments so that I can mark which ones I’ve read and haven’t read as I’m scrolling through them.

Well actually I guess you are a lot bigger as far as most analytics but i have 11.4k subs but much less views per video.

I feel like I can totally hear the difference between digital or not & that's always been the way to go. Tube amp & a bunch of pedals just sounds better.

Metallica makes a million bucks a night, use an axe effects. Can I like both?

You sure can. Matter of fact, both James and Kirk are now running Axe FX processors into Matrix power amps, and they’re selling out stadiums. LOL

I lost total interest in the Headrush immediately when it lanched because it says Eleven Rack on the side. Don't get me wrong the burnt rust 2U Avid ElevenRack was a solid piece of mid 2000s tech, but its just a stripped down host running a freaking 14 year old plug-in at the end of the day. I don't think I'm alone in this thought either. I bet I could get better results at home with an Apollo and the plug-in running on my ROG laptop. I really despise inMusic and their brands, I hate lower case i letters to try and snag a bite off the Apple, the lower case i is such a fad. Its just a letter people. All that aside , its a giant mediocre gear mill whipping out products that are obsolete before you even get them in your hands. Call me a gear snob, but M-Audio, Akai (now), Alesis, Alto, etc are just not brands that I associate with high end gear. The Craigslist specials that start with a capital A and are assiciated with terrible home studios where quality takes a backseat to quantity.
Even if the Axe II and III are essentially doing a similar thing, A: Fractal hardware and signal path is audiophile grade and transformer isolated, especially at the conversion stages, B: Other than Cab Lab and Reverb, you can't get Fractal as a plug-in, C: Fractal is a very tight group of dedicated engineers working in New Hampshire and turning the industry on its head. They are going toe to toe with the titans of the industry and doing so without even selling their products in the retail space...which means they are much less constrained to cutting corners and can afford to continue to push the limits of the hardware where other brands would be on to the next thing. And lastly D: have you looked at their freaking artist lineup? Its a who's who of currently working guitar legends...and they ALL had to pay for it. Keep up the killer work fellas.

“That’s just the way I’ve always done it”. Spoken like a true close minded guitar player. How do you expect to ever learn anything new or discover a better way of doing things if this is your mindset. Bizarre.

Maybe because it works for me? I don’t see how this makes me a “close-minded guitar player” at all. I use plenty of digital gear, just not effects processors. I use virtual instruments and Pro Tools, IR’s, etc. for recording all the time.
