Diesel Bug? Water in the Fuel ? Arvor 215as VWTDI100-5

- On returning from a fishing trip in my Arvor 215as fitted with a VW TDI100-5 engine I started to lose power and revs.
The revs and the boat slowly got worst eventually dropping down to 1500rpm .and 6 knots
After a few texts and phone calls I was told more than likely I had diesel bug .
I was then contacted by a fellow Arvor owner and fisherman that had a similar problem and talked me through how he sorted it out.
When removing the first stage filter and emptying it I found a lot of water in the fuel
Equipment used
12v pump
Wet vac with 20mm pipe gaffer taped to the pipe
I first pumped out as much fuel as I could out by inserting the pipe from the 12v pump down the filler tube, I then gaffer taped 2 mtr of 20mm hose to the wet vac hose and pushed that down the filler tube and sucked out ant remaining fuel.
I then added 20 lts of clean fuel and rocked the boat from side to side to disturb ant muck that was lying in the bottom of the tank. I then sucked this out with the wet vax I repeated this couple of times.
I then removed the 1st stage filter , filled the new filter with clean fuel and refitted it I did the sane to the engine fuel filter ,
I then refilled the fuel tank with 45 lts of new clean diesel ,
I then stared the engine and checked for leaks
At the end of the day no diesel bug was found but 3.5lts of water was removed from the fuel tank, in future i will be carrying out monthly checks on the first stage filter

how have you got that much water in mate ? check all your seals and in winter keep tank topped right up
