These turned out well! I will say this though. There is something to be said for simplicity when it comes to these diecast miniature vehicles. The more parts that open and move around, the more likely that they're going to tear up or wear out. Sometimes a straight-forward metal shell body with just a base, wheels and axles stands the test of time a lot better. Good work on these!
Thanks loston,I agree with you on this one ,that's why you see a lot of the gimmick vehicles have all got the same missing parts . All the best Martin 👍
Another silk purse, from TWO sow's ears this time! Quite clever steering, after the Cambridge School car, Ackermann, I think, and a development of the Fordson Tractor system but the wee mudflaps thing seemed a bit redundant. Lovely job Martin, and the underbonnet detail is sweet.
Cheers fraser, yes it's a very similar steering system except the front wheel parts aren't interchangeable with the driving school car unfortunately. That was my first port of call . All the best Martin
Martin first class work. Maybe Corgi had trained octopus to handle all the bits and pieces!!!!! I bet you breathed a sigh of relief when the last rivet went in. Loved the quality of the restoration. All the best my friend hope the eyes are ok. Cheers Chris 👍🏻🍻🎯🇦🇺🔍🚗🚗🚗
That's degree (if not doctorate) level Corgi stripping, right there! Don't know about you but I need to go and have a lie down after that one..... Lovely job, of course 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Really like those VW’s Martin 👍, very nice restoration, great detailing 👍, hope you will be coming along great with your 👁procedure 🙏🏻 today, take care 😉my friend 👋😎🚙🚗
10 / 10 Martin and thank goodness for the odds and ends box for the interior part made the resto much easier for you,... ummm this is just an idea what if you put a tooth pick in the end of the riverts would this make picking up and putting them in the posts holes after you use the magic glue,... as usual a great resto and I like the display stand and box .... Thank you.......👍👍
Another fine restoration, Martin. Fun to see one nice car come out of two. No wonder to me why this is the most popular car ever. They're irresistibly cute! One RHD and one LHD...? Weird. I wonder why. Wishing you a fine weekend now. Greetings from Switzerland. 🍁☕👍
The "opening bonnet" feature on these is why 90% of the ones you open up have that plastic suspension part broken off. The feature didn't work great to start with, and after a bit kids would really shove down on it trying to get the bonnet to pop, and snap the plastic part off! I believe as someone else said the Left hand drive models would have been for the European and American markets. Great job as usual👍
Thanks Bill ,your spot on about the bonnet release, not the best idea from corgi. Yes it must have been for the different markets ,,I will take note when I do future restorations as to the position of the wheel. All the best Martin 👍
Super job Martin, looks really nice in the box at the end, that black wash on the engine makes it look quite real, not the easiest of models to do either but what a lovely restoration 👌👍😊 My very best wishes, Nick🐸🐸
Hi Martin wonderful job on the bug. I love the wellies in the front I always remember Billy Connolly's song... If it weren't for ya wellies were would you be, You'd be in the hospital or infirmary.😂😂Great work mate.👍🏻
Hi Martin we really enjoyed this model, one of your best and It would be great to see you do the set. The same basic casting as the German police car which might give a clue to the left/right steering wheel. In Africa they drive on the left, Germany the right. All the best from Ian b & family.
Wow, what a lovely restoration Martin, that's a little gem you've produced there. Again your detailing work, like the black wash on the engine and detailing the items in the boot, really make your restorations stand out. Do you normally prefer to use white undercoat or did you use it on this model because you were using Mars Red? Thanks for your help with the detailing brushes, I've ordered some, they're much finer than I've previously been using. Another great video Martin, thanks for sharing it with us, and all the best. Peter.👍
I thought the thing under the bonnet was a handle on a toolbox? The LH and RH thing is a mystery, but it's the whole dash so maybe the different markets like the Driving School car. I'll bet that bonnet lifting pin never worked. Anyways, lovely job as always Mr. Dare.
Cheers Peter, yes you are probably right left and right hand for the different countries. The bonnet mech ,was a poor design especially withe the suspension being plastic. Thanks peter and all the best Martin
the red is looking proper, and what a fiddly thing to take apart. I think only the batmobile and the JB in full gear-up are more complicated. XD as Ian B said, there are some versions for non-UK market as well as police and driving school, I think, hence the two different interiors. as for the front suspension I suspect you should have switched the front wheel hubs around so they lay underneath the steering triangle. but maybe it's better that way, the plastic wound't become any less brittle, and that way the lashes won't break away. either way, Rhyan the Rhino approves... with his horn. XD
Cheers Lothar, yeah I did have a look at doing something similar but went down the easy route, but something to rember for a later date ,thanks again my friend and enjoy your Sunday.
Cheers, I use a bit of IPA ,or white spirit, nothing fancy, chrome moltow pen is the hardest to clean. Leave the brush in a bit longer. All the best Martin 👍
Nice resto Martin, Never noticed till you pointed it out, mine's a left hooker too. Was thinking, If you dumped those weak plastic springs & used the springs from a wrecked Corgi Bentley or Mercedes. It would be more durable
Cheers Steve much appreciated, a wash is basically a very thinned down paint thinned down to like a muddy Warter then put over a gloss surface it will run into all the gresses and dry ,you can buy ready made washes in various colours. I hope this helps
hhmmm, not a great fan of gimmicky toys.Granted these were made for kids to play at being Paddy Hopkirk, but i avoided them like the plague, even at an early age!Overall though, not a bad restoration,Martin.
Thanks Terry, as always for your honest opinion my friend, I do think some of the gimmicks were not built to last especially on this one the plastic suspension and the bonnet lift .all the best Martin

Martin do a scrap yard diorama will look great😊
Cheers Anthony, yes i have a cunning plan for just that my friend 😀
I thought the thing under the bonnet was a handle on a toolbox? The LH and RH thing is a mystery, but it's the whole dash so maybe the different markets like the Driving School car. I'll bet that bonnet lifting pin never worked. Anyways, lovely job as always Mr. Dare.

That's a really nice resto, with the box and rhino. Martin, you have raised the bar once again. What are you going to do next week, to top that?
Thanks very much I have been waiting to do this for a while so iam happy it's done ,all the best Martin 👌

Great restoration. When you paint silver or chrome paint, what do you use for cleaning your brusches?
Cheers, I use a bit of IPA ,or white spirit, nothing fancy, chrome moltow pen is the hardest to clean. Leave the brush in a bit longer.
All the best Martin 👍

Magnificent 🦏
Thanks very much its really appreciated
Well done Martin, not an resto, but a very good result, excuse my ignorance but how do you do a black wash ?
Cheers Steve much appreciated, a wash is basically a very thinned down paint thinned down to like a muddy Warter then put over a gloss surface it will run into all the gresses and dry ,you can buy ready made washes in various colours.
I hope this helps
@@martindaredare Thanks Martin, I might give that a go sometime :O)
