    What is this point of this.? Are we just trying to find what isn't the answer.?
    Why not just solve the equation.?

    • @Greenemath
      @Greenemath  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to figure out where the rational expression is undefined. You may get an answer that includes those values. In that case, you have to know they will be excluded from the solution set.

    Got it! so the point is ("Do NOT get a Denominator to equal zero, because if it does then that's when your in trouble...) Makes Sense
    Someone please let me know if I am right or wrong.

      @Greenemath  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My HM: (3/X)=(15/(8x))+3
    It it asking that I find the restrictions on the variable but I already know that x=(3/8) so why find the restrictions.?

    • @Greenemath
      @Greenemath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point of this section is to be able to find where the function is undefined. If you end up with a solution that is a restricted value, it is not valid and must be rejected.

    so how do you answer it?????? Not factorable or undefinable ??

    • @johngreene1483
      @johngreene1483 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to find out where the denominator equals zero. In most cases, particularly in Algebra I, you will be given a problem that includes a factorable denominator. When the denominator is not factorable, you take the denominator, and set it equal to zero. You then must solve this equation to find the restricted value(s).

  • @britt5063

    So basically, the x values are the restrictions? It seems the opposite of what you're left with.

    • @Greenemath
      @Greenemath  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly, you are thinking about what values of x will make the denominator equal to zero. We can't ever divide by zero, so we just set our denominator equal to zero and solve. The results will give you values of x that result in a zero denominator and these are restricted from the domain.
