Love your videos! My mosin comes in in two days. It's a 1927 Hex Bolt from Tula.
Sold my really rough 43 ishvesk. Hated myself for it so I bought a 33 ishvesk for a pretty good deal of 200$ which is a world different in smoothness and finish, lots of peoples complaints with mosins are war production roughness, and not cleaning cosmoline properly from the chamber and bolt
I have a laminated 43 from Ishvesk….love it! Bore isn’t ruined….have shot it a couple of times….smooth action.
I love it….and love the history of it. It was really fun to initially look up the numbers and symbols on the receiver to identify it’s origin….and to join a community of folks who loved doing the same.

Love your videos! Very informative and helpful. I own a 1937 (Spanish civil war) and a 1931 hex receiver. Hard to tell whether it is an ex Dragoon or early version 91/30.
thanks nice job, have several 91/30's and like them all, my 1938 hex is the one I like to shoot the best, followed by my matching PU sniper, these are great guns that are fun to shoot.

Picked up a matching 1937 a few weeks ago for 125.00 jumped on it.
Great deal in 2018, and would have been still a good one in 2008/
They stayed around as snipers long after the 1960s. There's a video of one being used by a Soviet Motor-Rifle, squad during Warsaw Pact exercises in Czechoslovakia in 1984.
I think one of the attractions to this back in the day was the cheap crates of ammo... I think 880 rds (2 440 rd tins in a crate) for $169. No more crates or tins. Too bad... I’m glad I saved a few.
Yes, the stuff was very inexpensive, even less than that at one point. Out of a bolt action, 880 rounds will last a long time too.

finns used m91, m27, (m 28/30 häyhä rifle) m39 known as "pystykorva" we used mostly their ammo against then ;)
Don't have m91/30, but have a M44 and a M38. My son used the M38 to take out a few hogs, from a tree stand, which are about to overrun East Texas.

The only 91/30 I have is the one I bought off my buddy when I was stationed in Louisiana. Back in 2012 $120 was a little high but that’s an excellent price to pay now. I have mostly Finns instead of Russians.
Hey Misha, I have a chance to pick up a 1928 version. The guy is listing it for $249 but I think I can get it cheaper. I just bought two tins of circle 10 ammo from him for $220 total. I have to wait until next week when I get paid. Hope he still has it.

Hey Misha, I bought that 1928 hex receiver. It has a pre war stock and nice barrel. Its bayonet wasn't matching and had to fit it. I am really excited to shoot it. Goes good with the M44
Hey guys I have a question. I've been noticing my eyes getting worse throughout the years and it's just hard to see the front sight post with the standard setup sights on the AK I was thinking about going with a Xs standard Front sight or the Xs stripe front sight post. And fold the rear sight I was thinking Circle 10 U notch or the Krebs custom aperture sight is anyone have any experience with these as a set or single. Thanks guys
Try painting the front sight a hi visibility color like white or green, or something that's not a natural color.
I definitely own an "Oh Shit Nazis" version. 1943. Not sure where it was manufactured.
i remember reading an article right before the time these stopping coming over in large numbers stating that russia destroyed millions of old firearms. it didnt state what they were but i assume mostly mosins
Honestly, who knows? Could have been old machineguns or blackpowder guns, or broken/damaged ones.
