Frederick Bligh Bond: The Psychic Architect | Unexplained

  • Published in 1918, Frederick Bligh Bond's 'The Gate of Remembrance' detailed excavations at Glastonbury Abbey. Recorded in the book were automatic writing sessions in which Bligh claimed to have been contacted by dead monks who had guided the excavations. Bond's employer, The Church of England, fired him and he faced reputational ruin. But was there any way that Bond could have located the buildings he found at the abbey without spirit help?

I host an Automatic Writing/Mediumship group in which quite a few of the members have experienced automatic writing (I'm not one of them). Some of the results have been astonishing. While it is "just" the subconscious mind or perhaps the soul of the person writing in many cases, certainly not all.

It brought so much positivity to my thinking and approach in problem solving. No it's not true that mystics sit somewhere in the secret caves of the Himalayas. There are beautiful mystic mediums like June Elleni Laine in the West as well. More power to them for spreading love and light in the world.

A few years ago I'd have brushed this off as bs. But we have zillions of near death experience testimonies which are first hand examples. I'm highly skeptical, but am now completely convinced of a number of things related to this. And now we know memory is not stored in the brain (see Eben Alexander's talks). And we also know for a fact that there is spirit communication with us. I've been studying this heavily over the past year, and see the world in a totally different way now. I kind of wish I could connect like this.

@@b.a.d2249 Automatic writing is when we make an intention to write the answer to a question without knowing or thinking what we are going to write. This documentary was made in 2008. [It's actually called "The Ghosts of Glastonbury"].
In 2000, Tony Robinson did a bunch of docos with "Time Team". One of them was about finding King Arthur--which of course, included a READING of the document included here as "evidence". In other words, Tony Robinson HAD known of this document on the founding of Glastonbury, but had clearly forgotten about it. The "writing" was his subconscious, not some ghosts.

There’s an old Tibetan tale about a woman who achieves enlightenment after receiving a holy relic, a tooth from the Buddha. But it was in fact a dog’s tooth. It’s the power she herself imbued the object with, through her faith, not the object itself. It’s said that our projections have the strength - if we see Buddha in the teacher, we will become Buddha; if we see the teacher as stupid, that’s what we’ll be! 🙂👍🏻

I consider automatic writing to be an extension of controlled remote viewing in which to initiate, the mind must be cleared of all thought allowing a connection with a signal line that creates an opportunity for an ideogram to become manifest. This ideogram is then retraced to stimulate responses. In CRV these responses take the form of the senses which are sound (or hearing), smell (or smelling), taste (or tasting, or the teasing out of flavours), sight (a form of intangible perception expressed as a view or views) and touch (tactile interpretation). It seems that in AW there is a bifurcation which leads to words being produced, and the other features of biomind faculties repressed as a result. It is interesting to me that she mentions the omniversal mind. I call it the universal consciousness, which is a vast repository of thought, also accessible by entering the correct mode facilitated by entering and holding a supercooled mental state.

    This is the reason:
You are alive to be food for the gods; They feed on animal and human misery.
At the time when disaster befalls you, the happier you were just before it struck, the more painful and acute is your misery ...
This produces the most succulent sustenance for them.
And this is why they love to carefully prepare you for consumption by setting you up, and then ruining everything for you.

I will concede that what William had written about Patrick meeting a Wallis isn't generally known but even I have heard of William's writing and yet Tony admits he hasn't heard of him. Also Bond is an experienced archaeologist. I believe his subconscious knowledge of the area, church buildings, history, etc etc were guiding his excavations more than the writing of a long dead monk (especially considering how badly the monk's medieval English is).

Automatic writing is a subconscious act. It's much like a musician, who is able to improvise to the point where they feel as if they are not the one actually playing; it's the "flow/feel" characteristic. It's very spooky but rewarding when it happens, but it's not supernatural; rather it is being so in tune with your craft and so deeply inspired that your consciousness no longer needs to operate to a normal degree; in that your subconscious takes over, and seems to act on itself solely and instantaneously. It's weird yes, but it is not supernatural; atleast I'm not convinced that it is, as of yet. The subconsciousness is the deep Leviathan of the unknown, unrecognized, and misunderstood properties of our animalistic nature.

    • @Mandy-nt2cs
      @Mandy-nt2cs ปีที่แล้ว

I would understand that.. but when the automatic writing takes place, one isn't in the process of 'a craft'.craft.. nor is it subconscious. They are fully aware, and using their brain knowing something else is controlling the utensil.... so I don't see the relation to that theory, respectfully. I do agree about the subconscious taking over when practicing something one is deeply involved in or familiar with though.

Maybe it was the Abbott's pet dog that would probably have been killed the same time as the Abbott and they just gathered up everything they found in the pile and put it in the grave. Most of the wealthy at that time had some form of hunting dog or guard dog around them so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a dog. So if it was the Abbot's dog not such a great sacrilege at least they were together.
I think would have been better was to test & see if they were even of that date& time. Those bones could have been buried in there any century.

If Bond was subconsciously moving the other man's hand to get the answers why were the answers always right? When told where to dig he found what he was told he'd find. And being educated might he not use words he knows to fill in gaps in the writings? I'm not saying it is real but I have these questions. Does anyone have answers?
