Eorope is so astonishing to us Americans---everywhere you look rolls back the centuries. Interesting to see how the local gentry emulated the Roman lifestyle.

So what is the status of the mosaic site now? is the field plowed or have the site been cordoned off? KInda wish they had capped the episode with the "now what do we do?" answer.

24:45 These are called "Roman" villas because this area of Britain was ultimately under the political/military control of Rome. And I gather there were people from Rome and elsewhere passing through for shorter or longer stays. But I also understand that many, maybe most of the people living here essentially "British" in that they were descendants of people who had lived there for generations. So I guess the architecture could also be considered "British" architecture.
I'd love to see Britons today reviving some of the lovelier details, such as the mosaic floors. Not only are they very beautiful but they seem quite practical as well.

    Kinetic circuits are neat.
They couldn't exactly portray movement on parchment.
