Regarding your less popular videos: I love your art, but I was hooked by your personality, so I have always appreciated the non-drawing videos in all these years watching you.
Let's call your art 'Doodleism'. And for your upcoming book, just 'doodle' words like you did before in some of your sketchbooks. Thanks for everything, Peter - you're one of the good guys! 😘
I think alot of his work falls into the "surrealist automaticism" category. The early 20th century dataists started it as an attempt to draw directly from the subconscious in a meditative state.
Thanks for making this long video, Peter! Glad you've gotten some relief from your depression over the years, it's been evident to me as a long time subscriber to your channel, and as a person who also has depression. It's nice to see you get happier.
Hey Peter, about selling your art - you are not making a product with a goal to be sold, so here is how you do it: 1) choose peaces you are willing to part with 2) pick whatever the price you want without care. You don't have to be consistent cause the is no right answer, some peaces can be 10000$, some free, it's your creation so only your opinion matters c: Potential buyers either accept the price or move on and that is it! 3) put "no negotiation" as a warning (so you don't have to bother) 4) Profit! Good luck c;
I'm just over half an hour into this. It's great, I completely understand what you have to say and will watch the rest tomorrow. My mother told me that when I was around three I would sit at the table with pencil and paper and draw tiny circles crowded together for long periods of time, maybe a half an hour, which is a long period of time for a three year old. I have pursued many different media and styles in my 68 years and still have a doodle going at all times. My main medium now is wood turned and carved art. Thanks.
1:54:53 I can’t believe it… I’m absolutely dumbfounded… It wasn’t Jerma who just used the meat grinder; but rather, WE were the meat grinder all along!!!
Thank you Peter, that was an incredible video to watch. Your honesty is compelling and your openness to share intimate details of your life makes me feel like I just shared 2 hours having a deep and meaningful conversation with a friend. Originally I started watching your vids because I also draw but I keep coming back because you have become a friend. I hope this video goes viral and becomes your biggest ever. You know a girlfriend would not be such a bad thing. Thanks, PeterM
Words are overrated, just publish it without words. or if you feel like adding some words, that's cool. you don't need to put words on every page, or have a 'story' that ties everything together. everything will be tied together because it's bound in a book. :) you could do a poem here and there if you want. whatever you choose to do, i'm sure that the people who will buy it will love it.
I've made blazers for myself years ago, I'm a sew-er, and yeah, hard.... but very satisfying when done and put on. I'm so glad a cooking vid is in the works Peter :) I've missed them. As for relationships, if I could I would go back and be single again, far less stressful not having to be accountable to another person and have another presence in the house. Great vid, I enjoyed every minute 😍
For people who want opinions on (Classic style) sketchbooks. For dry medium, Canson 180 (that with the magnet closure) is the best I've tried. For Fineliners,/pens etc, Moleskin is probably the best. Sakura/Talens, are a more affordable sketchbook similar to Moleskin but with the more creamy color Moleskine once used to have, (Red Chalk(Sanguine, looks the best on Sakura sketchbook). As for watercolors, if you're in the US you have more options, but I don't remember all the brands. Stiliman or something like that was one.. Strathmore and Hahnemuhle make some good watercolor sketchbooks. Generally, it's more like what mediums and what art, you usually use/create. rather than a matter of price, however, the "you get what you pay" is a rule on any kind of art supplies with only some rare exceptions. Then ,there are a ton of choices, that can work as a sketchbook. I talk about the spiral binding paper pads, that most paper companies produce. That's where the options get way more!! Happy drawing/painting, to all of you!!!
You totally got me with the "Probably my kids" bit. I haven't watched ALL your vids but I've watched enough that I thought, "How did I miss that?" Also, I laughed at your desire to be able to summon Cthulhu, just to have him lurk far away and make people feel unsettled, as needed.
Thank you for doing this! I just watched your video “How to Live Life One Day at a Time: 4 Simple Steps” a few days ago and I really, really liked it. Not sure what the view count was, but I thought it was awesome. Made me cry laughing…keep up the great work!
Fun to get to know you a little bit more! On the subject on how lopsided it can be when fans know you but you don't even know our names: Hi! My name is Elin! I am 33 years old and live in a tiiiiny village in Sweden. I love dogs and long for the day I can have a dog living with me full time. I love to knit and I am a huge film nerd. I have also struggled with relationships my whole life but a year ago I met a guy who is just as weird and quirky as me and suddenly having a SO didn't feel like a chore. I love being in the woods and when I watched "What we do in the Shadows" (the film) is when I have laughed the most in my entire life. Nice to meet you! Keep on doing your stuff Peter! I am a big fan of your art and your video persona ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Ha! My current faves are Frixion erasable gel pens right now. I was full on fountain pen for a while but right now it's the Frixion erasable ink pens, all the colors.
I think it'd be cool if your next book was a collection of stories rather than one big story. That might make writing easier? It'd also be cool as stand alone art pieces. Wishing you well!
1:27:45 Maybe you’re asexual or aromantic. The pressure to fall into a role you feel is performative can be really taxing in relationships, like you feel like you’re not contributing if you don’t provide everything you think is expected.
If you ever do make another podcast I will listen to that in a heartbeat. I LOVED your last one so much! Also, I am so here for the cooking videos too, quality hot dogs my man
Yay my favorite TH-camr of ALL! Edit: In your upcoming book: you could have a story that isn't included in every single piece. Make it part of the book, but don't try to fit every single piece into it.
Hey Peter. I actually own art books that are just pages and pages scanned from sketchbooks and torn out pages from artists. If you publish, I'd buy. Your art and videos inspire me. You're doing great work over here.
9:32 Thank you Peter! I must admit in all honesty, that I am affraid of it. As you may had a glimpse on my drawings in a message some moons ago, you may have seen that I am drawing as a hobby and not as full-time artist as you are. The process however, may be very similar. Boredom, Mind-Overload or yeah everything that makes people doodle or draw. But having several AI tools testet- It leaves me shocked because it really replaces the (lifted/outstanding) position of the artist in finding the motivation and creativity for a piece. Which ultimately makes an artist an artist. Now this "magic" is available, accessable and usable for everyone - And it really creates great stuff without much effort. But it worries me to be unable to enjoy it that much anymore when my brainwork is de-valued. And on top, it worries me about artists I like, who might end up in competition with "non-artists". Like You(!) are a big inspiration for me! you share very pieceful and meaningful opinions beside your great works and pieces. It breaks my heart to think of people replacing that with a simple app. Please Peter- Please never disappear!
Yes! Angel hair spaghetti! My daughter and I disagree, she like the regular spaghetti noodles which I really don't like anymore since I discovered the thin kind. I don't use Instagram, but thank you for this. ❤️ Also, trees for me.
To be fair, having a favorite is not easy. I was trying to answer those questions alongside you and most of the time I couldnt come up with an answer either.
I remember having to read The Trial at school back then. Totally confused what was happening in that story whilst also totally getting what people mean when they descibe something as being Kafkaesque.
Yeah I remember finding the things happening to the main character pretty amusing. It was all so ridiculous and I agree confusing, I wasn't sure it wasn't supposed to be parody. But then the way it ended surprised me, since that's not how books usually end these days. But then that made me think it was even more satirical.
Loved every minute of this. Thank you for answering the questions🩷 You're a huge inspiration of mine, and you deserve more and more success. And a big yes to making quirky videos like yours from 2017 and 2018!
I love the video about how to walk, and the one about how to draw a face. I love them so much I've talked people into watching them with me to explain who this Peter Draws is. Weird videos are awesome. Edit: I love your videos, and I keep hoping you won't get sucked into feeding the algorithm. I'm glad you stay real.
I literally almost started watching this episode AGAIN...for the third time lmao.... Peter bro call me I have problems lmao JK... have a good one yall ;)
I got rid of my tentonites, watching a couple of TH-cam videos, that some great physicians have uploaded. Doctors said, that my case was really bad, and that even surgeries, wouldn';t help. Those videos, and something like 3 days of stupid simple and fast exercises, made the pain and issue, completely disappear. ( I was in serious pain, for 5 years till then. Search TH-cam, watch as many videos as you can on the subject, choose wisely what is going to work for you. I did a simple masage technique, and then a 2 to 3 min exercise for max. 3 days, thtat's it!!

unsolicited advice from your nearly 40 year old female follower (in a long term functional and happy relationship after many trials also): try meetups or something like that vs those apps. if you're attracting women that make you jump a lot of hoops....maybe therapy? otherwise STRONGLY advise the book Undefended love...in understanding how you tick, your own issues and how to spot issues and why you attract a certain type. Good luck on finding a lady that makes you happy - you deserve it.
Hi Peter! For your drawing book, I suggest you make up a story at the bottom using a few of your made up language scripts. It doesn't need to be a story that we can actually read and understand. We'll enjoy it anyways... Just an idea 😊
Boredom: when an individual is has nothing in particular to do, is listless and dissatisfied arising from a lack of occupation, is not interested in their surroundings, or feels that a day or period is dull or tedious. I rarely feel bored; I can always find something to do that I'm interested in doing. As a parent I have been very fortunate that my son is the same way. He's never bored . . . he has always been able to find things he loves to do. [I had to look up the word because I don't relate at all . . . to being bored.]
Haha...I like the potential origin story behind the inspiration behind Peter's style..his moms tiny simple doodles... meanwhile my mom drew wierd puff balls whenever she would draw anything rarely. I draw nature realism..sorta.. its more nature study sketches..animals mostly.
What does successful artist mean to you if this isn't it... because I think you're pretty dang successful and people clearly love you. You're an artist and a successful one at that. That's all there is to that.
