Twin 3" Exhaust into a Single 4" pipe at the back.
So i decided i needed a new Exhaust for the mighty 200 series Landcruiser.
I also wanted to show you how to install in at home and a quick look at what it sounds like.
I went with the Torqit Twin 3" system in full Stainless steel.
Talk about an amazing bit of kit this thing is amazing.

lol i done my exhaust on my Triton..... never ever again, i took 1 look at the positioning on the 79 of the turbo and said NOPE ! I wouldn't mind going the GSL 4" dump into twin 3s. waiting for AAA exhaust to finish their of the shelf twin, and will decide which way to go once that's ready.
not sure about the power increase claims though that's a little hopeful, the cat does take alot of power out, side by side the 79s usually make a safe 134kw tune with straight though, and 125kw with a hiflow, i know the factory is massive but i just cant see it making 30% increase just on exhaust... #torqit happy for you to prove me wrong

So far pretty happy with it overall. Few things I wanna point out to ppl who are thinking about it which may help make up ppls minds. ( for or against ).
But the short version. I’d buy it again.

I have the other torqit performance exhaust twin 3.5 into single 4 out the back just did 11000km around Australia towing a van and it's a very very nice note that comes out of it when towing .but I love it even better when your not towing and I can turn the torqit chip back up fully and the pedal controller as well and I can listen to that note all day long

No no warning lights at all. Been in for almost 18 months now and it’s running like a dream and my god it sounds soooo good. There’s a review video on my channel as well which shows the sound a lot more.

Yeah I remembered. I’m trying to get the file out of safari to up date the tune myself at home. Haven’t got onto them yet 🙄. Christmas is crazy at work.
Hey mate, great vid, looks and sounds fantastic.
Not sure how they could pick up that much power and torque- those numbers seem way too large for a simple exhaust change. Factory ones are fitted to flow extremely well these days as manufactures have a much better R and D team with engineers/ testing facilities and other resources that the little guys don't- if it was that simple to pick up such a large amount of power Toyota would have done it from the factory.
Hey bud. I’m glad you liked the video and some of my others.
Looking at the factory exhaust compared to the Torqit one you can see a massive difference in size just from the get go.
The 3 major differences would be.
1. At the back of the turbo it’s chocked down to about 1-1/2 inch pipe from factory. The new one is 2-1/2. So 1” extra flow straight from the turbo.
2. The main body of the factory exhaust is 2-1/2 inch with a few small bottle necks where it turns as it’s not mandrel bent. The torqit one is Mandrel bent and is 3” the entire way apart from at the back of the turbo.
3. Mufflers and cats.
The factory had 2 massive cats on the back of the turbos. And the biggest muffler I’ve ever seen on a 4WD. 2 of them as well.
The torqit exhaust I got has two high flow cats and no mufflers.
All of those differences add up to a heap of extra air flow. Mix that with the safari Armax snorkel which is massive as well. They really do gain a heap of power.
I’m not sure I’d say 30 kws at the wheels like they claim but it definitely adds some.
I do plan on chucking it back on a dyno to see what it has gained though in the future.

@@Australian4x4Adventures All good mate, thanks for taking the time. I honestly can't see that the snorkel would add any extra power as you're not changing the intake system- merely putting a sealed pipe from the factory airbox to a higher point on the vehicle- The furfy of saying it "rams" air into the airbox is a bit silly seeing as in your case you've got two big air compressors on the side of your engine that are able to flow an insane amount of air at pressures of around 15-20 PSI (or whatever yours runs at now with that tune)- I'd imagine that the "ram air" principle work about as well as one of those electronic superchargers that is basically just a big fan (I've got a sarafi snorkle fitted my my Prado and it didn't make any difference to fuel consumption or power when fitted).
When it comes to the exhaust I think there is a few things worth noting;
1) The exhausts on modern vehicles are a massive improvement on the older ones.
2) The study and understanding of fluid mechanics has come a long way with the advent of computer modelling and simulation and this knowlege has contribuited in a huge way to the improvement of things like exhaust systems- The programs that model these types of things costs thousands of dollers to purchase and are probably out of reach for most companies that don't have a huge R and D budget. Newer cars are far more complicated than older engines and it's no longer true that bigger is better when it comes to a tailpipe.
3) Those mufflers and cats probably don't restrict as much as you'd think- They've been designed to flow very well in a factory application with low noise levels as a lot of people don't want to hear their engine (although when it's a twin turbo V8 I can't understand why to be honest).
Beaudesert Exhausts (a reputable manufacturer located in QLD) claim an increase of around 8-12% as per their website. Given that stock power in a 200 series is around 200kw that translates to around 20kw- Although I suspect even this figure is optimistic and may even be less.
If that same figure were taken to increase torque as well than given the 650NM in stock form you could expect an increase of around 65NM (although again I think this is really optimistic and would amost certainly be less)

It's worth looking at this well written post from the prado forums where one user has dyno graphs of stock and with exhaust- While the 200 and 150 are radically different vehicles I think the point is valid as it shows the efficiency and effectiveness of the stock exhausts.

In saying all this, given that you have remapped your car and are pushing more fuel and boost into it than Toyota designed the exhaust system for so it may be a worthwhile investment for someone with those other supporting mods- I'm really looking foward to the vids on the differences between the two on the dyno.

The twin 3" wont fit on my 200 series with 180l long ranger steel fuel tank, which is the main reason i went for the steel tank instead of the arb frontier plastic tank and the torqit system instead of the taipan system. The car is being fitted out at uv 4x4 which are arb and torqit dealers and both tank and exhaust were research before hand to make sure they matched up ok. Now i have to go the single 4" and not happy about the false information being thrown out there by torqit

I was told the exact same thing when getting system.
They told me the only tank they won’t fit will be the poly tank from ARB.
I’ll be pretty disappointed if that isn’t the case and I have to mod the exhaust to get a long range tank in down the track.
Personally i prolly won’t be going the 180lt tank. I like the idea of just a smaller 100lt tank and maybe a small bit of water.

@@Australian4x4Adventures it really sucks when you are all siked up about the twin 3" only to be told it won't fit and there are lots of options out there for the single 4" i am getting now . With the tank sizing i find water is usually easier to find than good quality diesel and the 180 diesel fits the bill for me and again personal preference. Anyhow love your videos and 200's rule over petrol guzzling y62's
Rather then changing the entire system, why don’t you just get an exhaust place to go from the twin pines to a single 4” before it comes over the rear axel. The earlier model exhaust done exactly that and you can fit the poly tanks then.
@@Australian4x4Adventures Torqit are supplying the single 4"from where the cross over mounts which is coming from newcastle and will be fitted on monday. Torqit seem to be doing the right thing with supplying a fix and are working with UV 4x4, but after all the planning i have done around getting the right suppliers it's just painful
