      They appear to be great systems, I'm very happy with the choice so far.
      Hopefully my future video will provide a little more light on my thoughts for this system.
      Cheers, Nathan.

    Thanks Nathan for another very informative, non biased video. I have just bought a new 200 and own a small Jayco van similar to the one you've just sold so your videos are perfect for me. There are a lot of enhancements that can be made to these 200's but I'm loath to do too much to it for a few years as a lot of these changes I think could result in voiding at least part of the warranty. Great information for me for the future though. Cheers

      Thanks mate, I'm glad these videos are helping out. The list for modifications never seem to end, but I enjoy to process.
      For sure, I hear you there. Luckily, my model is a little older so it's not much of a consideration, but something that would influence my decision if I still had warranty.

    Nice work on doing this yourself,but I think you will find without a resonator at the back you will get an annoying drone as I found when towing the caravan so wait and see how you go it may not bother you,cheers mate.👍🍻

    Excellent job and video Nathan. It is something I have been considering for quite some time. My concern has always been about the drone while touring so I’ll be keen to hear your thoughts on this in that next test. One other thing have you considered getting an engine remap done so that you can maximise the benefits of the change. I gather that’s about $1500 from Reaper. I’m impressed with the time you took, I’m sure with my procrastination various abuse in removing things it would likely take twice as long. Good advice on the tools thanks very much. Great video👍🏻

      The purchase and install of the exhaust has been on my list for some time now and was extended with the 2 month wait time from Manta.
      I do have some thoughts on the 'drone' from the new system, so I'll be sure to share these experiences in a couple of weeks.
      In term of tuning, I am currently booked in (with Reaper) for some work. I'll be sure to document the work and results from this in the form of a video.

  • @jedmagoo2759
    @jedmagoo2759 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video Nathan. Do you have any EGT comparisons between old and new. I'm assuming a lower EGT with the larger diameter Manta system but would be interesting to see a comparison especially uphill under a towing load.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers mate. So unfortunately I'm unable to compare EGT's side by side as there are no EGT readings from the factory exhaust and I wasn't prepared to spend additional funds to have them installed.
      There is no doubt that it will have dropped the EGT's somewhat, however I just won't be able to confirm by how much.
      These vehicles have a function that reduces the vehicles power or load when EGT's get too high, so rather than causing damage to the engine, the driver will experience power loss at extreme temps. Having this system will mean that hopefully it will never get to these high temps, even when towing heavy loads up inclines.

      I hear you with the DPF model cruiser. I can't say that I've done a huge amount of reading into these systems and the effect that fitting aftermarket exhaust have.
      When choosing a Landcruiser a few years back, one of the reasons that I leaned towards the 2014 model was the lack of DPF, both for long term reliability and turbo back exhaust install down the track.

    Gday mate looking to do this tomorrow, so it’s a 14mm socket needed for all bolts?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, so you're definitely going to want that 6 point 14mm socket for all those tight bolts, however I believe there is a slightly smaller size (can't remember exactly what is was) for the clamp holding the tail pipe. Saying this, that smaller bolt is easily removed with a standard ratchet.

    Hi Nathan, well done mate, finally getting rite off the Toyota crap system. What a heavy pos it was. What was the weight differences?...
    Men it took you much to long....Yes, well known it’s a 2.5 k AUD investment!. Nice crissi gift lol!
    Plenty of company in OZ make fantastic exhaust systems for the 200 series to choose from. See you have no rear muffler only center, means louder then my system which is a Taipan EX quiet system with Vortex and small muffler in rear. Sounds perfect for me and definitely no droning. With a van in tow you hear a bit more sound, guess also draw bar lengths is a factor. Question you feel a power increase ? 10 kw ?! you will not notice with your “butt sensor”. EGT is definitely going down with lesser pipe restriction, guess you gain it back to an acceptable level while chipping the “V8 Donk” or what you think where the gained 50kw goes ! The math is simple: more Diesel + more air = more power = more heat exhaust gas.
    But got also a question for you: Did you noticed an increase surge noice from the snorkel head when coming from full load? Or is the Donaldson head damping it? On road I run the std Safari head and due to the COVID-19 s.... not able to test it with my Donaldson pre cleaner head on dirt roads. Cheers mate and happy x mas holidays

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, it sure was about time I got around to this. It was a long 2 month wait as well...
      So I didn't officially weigh the systems side by side, however there is no doubt the Manta system is lighter, specifically in the centre muffler area, but I don't think its a huge difference.
      SO yeah, I forfeited the rear muffler, just for a little V8 note on acceleration. Knowing that all of Manta's components are interchangeable, it re-assuring to know that I can always add this piece in at a later time if I feel it's too loud or disruptive (which is not my thoughts at the moment).
      So negative, I haven't noticed much of a power increase, perhaps a small increase in torque and low down power, but this could just be a placebo effect...
      Now that this is fitted, the vehicle is ready to be tuned on a dyne. Like you said, I've got the increased air through the ARMAX, and increased exhaust flow. All that's required now is some servicing, an intake clean and a tune.
      In regards to the noise from the snorkel, I haven't found it to be a huge amount noisier with the exhaust, however I find the Donaldson head makes the intake quite noisey in the first instance. (I've actually noticed a huge increase in intake noise from fitting and testing a Unifilter air filter, I'll report on this in another video).
      Have a great Christmas mate!

    The exit housing on the turbos [stock] is 2.5 inch, what benefit is there getting a 3 inch over a 2.5? seems like overkill?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a larger dump pipe and system throughout is going to encourage exhaust gasses to exit the vehicle quickly. This in conjunction with allowing quick air intake (ie. a snorkel) will assist the vehicle in performance gains.
      Further, it will lower the EGT's (Exhaust Gas Temperatures) and keep the engine at a safe level, along with enable further tuning to provide further performance increases.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Eric,
      So I started by looking at numerous exhaust systems, both cheaper and expensive systems.
      I choose Manta for a few reasons, being that they have been in the business for a long time, make a huge variety of combinations for the vehicle and more importantly have a consistent and large positive review from many customers.
      I couldn't find anything negative regarding Beaudesert or King Brown specifically, but the positivity around Manta, particularly for Landcruiser 200 series owners is huge and as a customer I was looking for a quality exhaust that would fit first time without issue.
      Im pleased to note that Manta have lived up to their expectation in this regard.
      Cheers, Nathan.

      Thanks mate.
      So, I haven't done any direct testing in regards to emission levels and perhaps this would be better answered by the company themselves.
      The fact that this vehicle is fitted with catalytic convertors would suggest that the exhaust is still minimising emission output.
