I know this is more a random coincidence (with EJ doing two races plus Jeff doing his usual) than a planned thing, but it was actually incredibly informative and helpful to see the same course on the same day at three different levels of racing. The difference was surprisingly visible even to me who knows basically nothing about crit strategy etc...
EJ has already done mountain bike racing and has years of experience mountain biking and cycling. The C2C series is great but I think it would be even better, and more relatable, if they were honest and open about his cycling history.
@@LFB4 have you seen EJ’s Strava? It’s 8 years old and there’s some recreational road and mountain biking on there. I highly doubt he did mountainbike racing on a secret account or something.
This was very nerve wrecking.... especially when your teammate "clipped his wheel"... but honestly from start to finish really! Very exciting to see. Thanks for this! Keep up the good work with the master class and bringing us along in your guys' journey with Couch to .. Cat 5 😜👍🏻!! 🙏🏻
Jeff, excellent video. I especially liked the outside cam footage in the beginning, introducing the players and showing what it looks like for onlookers. Excellent commentary which makes it exciting to watch.
Awesome video and congrats! Good day for Racing Jeff and Bike Dad Jeff 😆. That drift off the front for the win, pro strategy. (also waiting for the Bianchi fanbois to come in and say "it's not teal it's celeste")
Hey Jeff, thanks for the reply and apologies for how my comments might be coming across. I've really enjoyed both C2C series so far and have been watching your videos since 2015 but I have to admit it was disappointing to find out way more about EJ's cycling history from the comments section and a Jesse Coyle video than from all the videos in this series. On his strava, EJ mentions racing mountain bikes in high school and has a 4+ hour ride from 2016 and a lot of road cycling before 'beginning' in 2022. I don't think any of that takes away from his journey, joy of cycling, and progression so far, but not talking about any parts of that history does seem misleading to a lot of your audience, whether intentional or not. I think a more transparent and honest representation of his cycling and athletic history would be more inspiring and helpful to many people viewing these videos. Thanks for all the fun videos over the years.
This was awesome to see how your able to race and think at the same time. How do you know, cause I struggle with this, especially with race brain, what lap your on or what’s on your head unit? Maybe I’m too knew to the race aspect but I always get the laps wrong. I see lap 1 and think it’s the last lap and go all out then I’m crossing the line with 1 more lap to go, games over for me at that point. Is there something on your head unit that you use like in the video where it’s measuring the meters left in the race or are you just that savy about this stuff?
unspoken rules provided by the cycling gods: salutes are allowed when you or a teammate are winning, cat5 salutes are when people take their hands off the bars for no reason when crossing the finish line.
you have great team, there was no way anybody could steal the win from you guys, you were too strong and too well organised, when 4 of you took the lead at 5km to go - the race was already over for the others. Of course - it still required very hard and smart work from you to bring the win to the line, but I don't think there was much belief in your rivals at that moment XD
I’ve raced with Mark Weir, Chris Carscadden, and other pro mtbers, and Ryan is different. I suggest you ask Ryan about his almost pro career in MotoGP. Might get a better understanding of why a 30mph corner doesn’t register with him the next time you interview him.
Interesting how you mentioned your teammates mountain biking background but have never talked about EJ racing mountain bikes in any of the couch to crit videos.
EJ goofed around on a downhill bike as a teen in the north bay, pretty common. I think he did one downhill race and got dead last 😆, by no means any formal technical or endurance training. Ryan on the other hand was at a pro level in mtn bike and did actual endurance events for like two decades
I feel we actually got a better view of race strategy from this perspective where Jeff _isn't_ the designated sprinter. This was so exciting to watch.
Ryan is unreal. The guy's got gas tanks.
Ryan has unlimited NOS
Fr looll d amm
Ryan led out nearly an entire lap and then won the whole damn thing. (After a long solo flier in the final third of the race.)
Jeff I’m digging the longer videos. Allison with EJ and the two cherry pie crits have been awesome
+1
Ryan casually leading himself out and winning the race, man's a real life hulk
He did Amstel MvdP 😄
Ryan is so strong, my god. Spent so much time on the front, and still won.
Wake up bae NorCal cycling just uploaded
bro
Burger is looking good in purple 🔥
Stoked to mix it up with you guys for my first P/1/2/3!

Get Ryan to take EJ out to work on his bike handling. A bit of fast singletrack will work wonders!
Chapeau to Ryan, what a beast!

That was NOT a long take Jeff. I'm here for it! Great content!!!
Shout out to young Josh riding the classic Oltre with rim brakes! Classic cool!

Love it, excelent comentary as always, looking forward to watching your season unfold 👍
So impressive. Well done. Tell the guys too !🎉
one of the best videos ive seen great work jeff
Might be my fave norcal video.. Situational awareness was aight..
Keep it going, great content. I was not into crit racing content before I met your channel, you made me fell in love with it. Congrats for the win 🎉
really great to see the difference between cat 4/5 and 1/2 on the technical turny bits
Wow! Great teamwork and that was an awesome strategy seeing how a sweeper works!👏
Awesome teamwork! That was fun to watch!
Cherry Pie crit is nuts. There are definitely benefits to just being to the front early in the last lap. Like no other crit!
am digging the longer video nice work jeff you're videos are the highlight of the week
keep em coming
Wow! Nice edit on a great race. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Wow that was awesome teamwork, would love to get my fitness up more, enjoyed that race 👍
smashed it... love seeing the cat 4/5 and cat 1 racing awesome value
WOW this was cool congratilation
Great video from you and EJ!
What an awesome leadout train for those last few laps! Looking forward to a great season of racing for the Mike's Bikes crew.
Awesome video and congrats! Good day for Racing Jeff and Bike Dad Jeff 😆. That drift off the front for the win, pro strategy. (also waiting for the Bianchi fanbois to come in and say "it's not teal it's celeste")
Jeff these race break downs rival Phil commentating on the tour. Once again killed it with these videos!
great great commentary. so much to talk about
The number of race winning options Mikes Bikes has now, duuuuuuuude.
Praise the Lord, brother. Epic commentary and epic team work👍👍👍
Great to have you back!!
Always a heart thumper! Let's go!
Drone shot was fantastic! What a nice addition
Good to see you back
Light work baby!!! Excellent job and happy accidents haha

Nice riding from the whole team!
Great race and coverage!
The blow-by-blow on this was great!
It sooo impressive watching the tactics you guys use
EPIC!!!! that was an exceptional video! Exciting and a ton of good information being shared, love it man!
Brilliant race 👍👍👍
More footage from the sweeper position! That was intense!
Y'all make it look so easy, kinda. I would never feel comfortable at those speeds, in proximity to so many other riders, on a course like that.
I've got my first 3/4 race this weekend. I can't imagine a P/1/2
good luck with that mate hope you do well

You guys ripping through the techy section is unreal.
holy! Ryan is something else!
Nice race!!! Congrats on the team!!!
Good strong racing dude!
Team work at its best
Nicely done guys!
WHATTTT A RACEEEE OPENERRRR
White helmets must be in style right now
sloppy win is still a win. excited to see the rest of the season
Perfect course for a Saturn Situp
So Clean!
Great race!! Can you comment on the 1st & 2nd place riders' cat 5 salutes? 😄

LETS GO SEAN
Hey Jef I realised something. Did the Organizer reverse the route for Cherry Pie ?
Nice racing boys! Looking good.
Love your videos
These videos are so cool!
Ryan was destroying those corners.
It's not 'teal' it's "Celeste". Great video though.
they ride Giant what you expect lol😅

PUMPED!!!
Does ryan have a strava too?
Actually much prefer the longer format :)
I can hardly believe your injury was over a year ago
Nice 🙂👍👍👍
Team Ryan's Bikes
hey bro any chance you can get gas station food cyclist back on for guest commentary? thanks for making great content all these years.
His Cat's Hill commentary a few years ago is still a highlight of the channel for me
Why didn’t team mike’s bike issue everyone a cervelo s5?
So smooth is fast so why don’t big teams like you guys just control the race from the start instead of slow, chase, slow, chase?
Can you ask him how he likes that Bianchi please? maybe a bike check? thanks!
Every time you guys say "1500 watt sprint" you should take a shit. Might end up with alcohol poisoning though. 😂
I wish I was as good as anyone in that race lol
Ryan is a fucking beast lol
you guys were pub stomping, is this even allowed in ranked? they really 6 stacked pubs.
What happened to Chris?
L39ION who?😂

@@NorCalCycling If EJ has a mounting biking background, it would be very interesting to see him doing it again but with doubled FTP number this time,
First!
Wow that Groucho Mrx goatee isn't doing you any favors. Must be a gay CA thing.
