I live under a rock apparently. I have never seen or heard of this lovely looking man before. Love youtube for helping me to discover new music. This is quite awesome!!
Well you would almost have to have lived under a rock to have never heard one Arc Angels tunes. I dont know about the states but they got huge ariplay up here in Canada. So you quite likely have heard one and just never knew about them, it happens...lol. The Arc Angels is Doyle Bramhall, Charlie Sexton, Cris Layton and Tommy Shannon, Cris and Tommy were SRV 'band', for the better part of his career. Doyle plays a right hand guitar left handed no restringing, his strings run high to low, its crazy but he makes it work well. Not really as uncommon as it seems, left handed guitars were so rare kids just play em the way they are and you end up with a player like Doyle, unique and down home at the same time. Am a Doyle ll fan since early 80s. Jelly Cream blind-sided me with good music from him back when. Been watching him playing w/ Clapton, Trucks, Jimmy Vaughn, John Mayer...love all the good juju coming from him...from a thorn comes a rose. Play on.
I can hear that. Jimmy Thackery dos a great cover of WHO KNOWS, and you know how that saying goes in full, "who knows may not say. Who says may not know." The exception to the rule, my kind of wild, thanking you, must be a wild one too!

Sounds like a nice rendition of Band of Gypsies - Hendrix & Buddy Miles - a combination of 70% Who Knows (tempo, Wah and multiple riffs) and 20% of Machine Gun. Doyle even does Hendrix's dismissive throwaway lines in the master's voice at 10:44. The only thing missing is Hendrix's brillo.
Sounds like Bramhall's been doing his homework and listening up on Hendrix. I love the vibes of Machine gun, Hear my train a comin and Jelly 292 were hearing!

Doyle REALLY needs to call Glenn Hughes and show the world how great BCC can be with a new axe man!!!! Call him Doyle, pick up the phone, or tweet or skype or telegraph or somethin' ;)
No, it is the notes. The notes played are what music is all about. You could take a keyboard and play some part of Hendrix's playing through them, even if they came out like duck and cow sounds it would be a variable and appealing piece of music, because Jimi knew what notes to play to put a person in to a hypnotic state. Just listen to it, very closely. It will be annoying at first but the rewards once past the threshold are amazing.
OK, just saying that there´s a world of difference between what one plays, regardless of tone, it will have the same effect, and the tone used because tone-selection does not make up for a good sequence of notes, how about that? What one chooses to play is not as important as its delivery, the audience's gonna hear it with or without univibe, Fralin-pickups etc, the music is more important than the gear. Am I incorrect?

Awesome drummer
One of the BEST! His groove is so greasy you could fry chicken in it.
Hearin that heavy foot!
JJ’s groove pocket is so fat you could make butter out of it
I’m pretty sure if you looked up” in the pocket” this cats picture would be there.

Mishrael The Bard I like hearing respect for bass players from our up an octave brothers.
Buckshot and the Pepperbox I love a strong bass sound and bass fills
The bass is the glue that keeps it all together! Of course, J.J. Johnson on the drums is a beast too. Fantastic rhythm section.
The 5th Danger are you in Jersey?
I sure as hell do!
This drummer makes the beat so thick yet somehow graceful, like hitting a butterfly with a sledgehammer.
I've always been a big fan of Doyle Bramhall II since before his days with The Arc Angels. Kudos to the rhythm section on this tune. Awesome
A player locked in a groove and NOT playing a million notes...yeah I think he gets it
the drummer is locked in the groove , sweet stuff.
