She's got the ability to not only move you with her voice. But her acting is so fantastic too, Imho. She throws so much emotion into Elphaba. It's just sheer joy to watch her perform. And I am really happy for you that you were able to catch her in action. And that you enjoyed the show!
Ya know no matter what language this song is in its still amazing and gives me chills.
I met her three days ago when I saw Wicked on Broadway, she is absolutely incredible! Very kind too, I got to talk to her at the stage door. She and Alli Mauzey are perfect together!!!
Wow, this is so impressive! For me, as a half dutch half german person who speak both languages fluently, it is so amazing to hear how perfect her pronunciation is! I have so much respect and love for Willemijns voice and art!
saw her on Broadway last week. amazing! just blew it away. it's been a week and i'm still not over their performance. one of those shows that will stick with you for a really long time. :) wonderful job!
She has to play Elphaba in the movie!!
Well, sadly she’s not. But it’s okay.
If it had been made 20 years ago, totally.
So proud of this Dutchie. She totally deserves her moment on Broadway. She always gives her all when she performs. NY brace yourself. You shall be blown away by her! She's A-mazing!
I enjoyed her as Elphaba 2 weeks ago on Broadway when my school music went to NYC and she was AMAZING! Also got the opportunity to met her at the stage door. Oh my gosh, she did a wonderful job! :)
Its nice to hear her singing in english...ALL of her singing is simply phenomenal! STUNNING! WAY TO GO!!!! :)
WOEHOE Beste talent ter wereld komt van nederland!!!
So proud that I knew which language she was singing while watching it :')
I love her and her voice. She makes it seem so effortless!
Sooooo excited that Willemijn is going to be our Elphaba in London at the end of the year.
I've had the honor seeing here live in the Netherlands, she is astounding.
Willemijn is amazing - in every single language! :) ♥
Saw her on broadway on the 19th and she was FANTASTIC!!
I'm from the netherlands like willemijn and ive been to wicked and ive seen her. She really blows you away!! At the end of (defying gravity) ik lach om zwaartekracht i was laying on the ground from.... i was so impressed! She really is amazing!
She is a power house singer! That was so beautiful in every language she sang it!
I just knew she would start in German, the translation is very good, still have to get used to hearing it in Dutch, even though im from Holland :) She is so good, just dont know what to write to express her awesomeness!
seriously? Someone disliked this?? Willemijn is my favourite Elphaba, and in three languages! Come on!
I was blessed to see her in Wicked two times in The Netherlands and I have never experienced something like this ever before. She's mind blowing! This preformance here on youtube is not even showing half of what she does in the theatre. For Wicked shake I hope she will preform on Broadway someday (if that's what she wants) because she's the best....and as many people as possible should see her.
She is amazing. the switches between dutch german an english is amazing. I can't wait until i see her in the dutch wicked
1 Person is not defying gravity. ;)
Seriously, she is great. I love that woman, and her voice, and that song. How can anybody dislike this video? Thank you so much for sharing!
Nice mashup of different languages! Love her voice so much!
She is absolutly BRILLIANT!
SHE'S ON BROADWAY just in time for me to see her on Friday! I can hardly wait!!!! Some things are just meant to be!!
She's so talented. I really really hope I'll get to see her in person some day.
This is why she needs to be in london I mean wow she can sing this like a goddes in english german and dutch, Willjimn you rock.
Thanks for uploading thins i have always wanted to hear her sing defying gravity in english.
:)
geniaal duits en nederlands en engels door elkaar heen. knap hoor!! hoop dat ze het vaker zingt zo klink goed!!!
I'm so glad she's on Broadway now! I wish we could've seen Wicked on my class trip, but alas, the tickets were too expensive. :'(
Can't wait to see her in here in Holland!
She's going to broadway! I can't describe how proud I am!
The only reason I'm proud to be Dutch :)
If she ever makes it to Broadway, I will do whatever it takes to see her!
shes amazing
Gorgeous voice.
love he and Jemma Rix.. amazing..
Proud to be Dutch :)
Willemijn, loveyou :3 youre the best!
Wow. she's amazing!
Nice switch between the languages, she is really good :D
Amazing!
There is definitely why she is going to be on broadway... if you are a true WICKED fan and have been following it since the very beginning that she is one of the most favorite Elphaba's ever since the German production opened. I can only imagine every WICKED junkie from all over the U.S. flocking to get their tickets to see her live while they still can. I can't wait! :)
If only she knew then where else it would take her...
you and me both!
she has a beautiful voice. :')
Why thank you!
The part I like her most is she is not only good at vocal, but her facial expressions fits the character Elphaba so well. Sometimes she shows a bit anger on her face which reflects the rebellious inside Elphaba. She is good at both singing and acting. In terms of singing, I personally watched Jemma Rix's show. Jemma is also very good at singing. She is a great Elphaba as well. The current West End's Elphaba Rachel Tucker is great, too. She has a powerful voice.
WILLEMIJN COME TO BROADWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I would die. Literally. Love her.
Is this the same dutch Grand Dame that stars in Wicked in the Netherlands at the moment? And why didn't anyone in Holland notice this Dame before? Including me... So she decided to just have a jam with Brown, Alan and Schwartz?
Jeez..... this artist is unbelievable....
she id on broadway :) i saw her, and she was just fantastic! i have no words for her!
O....M....G.....I can't wait til the 12th.
diese frau is der wahnsinn!!!
als elphaba war/ist sie einfach unschlagbar!!
She has an amazing English accent! I'm looking forward to see her in Den Haag!!
I like the german part most. :-) Willemijn, come back to germany!!!!!
You got it right - good ear! ;o)
@JulelovesUSA We are very honoured to have her here :)
The best Elphaba ever!!
@JulelovesUSA Twice in the beginning of November (9th and 11th) and met her on the 11th after the show :)
I'M DEAD...THIS WAS PUBLISHED ON MY 10TH BIRTHDAY!!!
SHE'S COMING TO BROADWAY!
I saw her on broadway just two weeks ago
"It's so much pleasure."
She's adorable.
She's coming to Broadway!
She actually is on Broadway now :)
Do it in English on Broadway next!!!
I can't wait to hear it when she's on broadway, the only versions of her singing this song are all kinda small night club style i can't wait to hear her when she can go all out on stage!
@UrBiggestMistake777 Umm.. the 'piano player' is stephen schwartz, the guy who wrote defying gravity..
So, she sings in German, Dutch, English? That's the order right? German, Dutch, English
Yes
@JulelovesUSA Are you gonna see Wicked in Holland?
Bring her to Broadway!
@JulelovesUSA Ah, that´s so sad! Hope you will see it, really do! I have seen it twice here yet, but that will be more soon probably. I live not very far away from the theatre (ride of less than an hour). She is so good! It's just ridiculous.
@UrBiggestMistake777 THAT PIANO PLAYER?????? It is Stephen Schwartz himself behind the piano, he should know the pace
Well she now is going to Broadway!!! :)
it's German, Dutch, German, Dutch, Englisch :)
She is so amazing. Now let's just get her to Broadway after Holland...
I hope willemijn opens an original piece on broadway
IK LACH OM ZWAARTEKRACHT! HUP HOLLAND HUP!
There is a part where she is singing in English :P
She's very fluent!
when she sang in English she sounded like a combo of eden and soshana bean!!!!!!! i hope spelled their names right....
@GleefulUnited it should sounds like proNUNciation and non proNOUNciation, just funny to mispronounce that particular word. But no big deal. I really admire Willemijn!
I wonder how different languages get it to still rhyme...that's crazy to me.
1:31
Well I got part of it right.
NEDERLANDS is de beste :)
woah, she's really good at English! Really fluent and barley any accent! all the more reason to put her in the Broadway production!
Of this song in English I should add
*sound
piano player shoulda slowed down for her a little..
but other than that, really awesome.
In het Nederlands legt ze ook de meeste emotie xd logies :P
Broadway and West End
now she is in broadway! XD
GO HOLLAND :D hahahahahaha
Yeah, never heard a fluent English-speaking say it like that, but I believe it. Pry not the smarter ones though XD
engels is het mooist! (a)
What's wrong with that?
idk how i feel about her replacing jackie burns....
She's great, but ist just not possible to sing Defying Gravity with the same emotion as on stage with the full cast.
pronounciation...? Haha.
