It's definitely a thankless unappreciated position that many often not in the profession of Transit Operator take for granted. San Francisco Municipal Railway far from perfect. Then too wait till you live in the suburbs then you will appreciate what you don't have anymore. I miss it. San Francisco is one of the best cities to live in especially for shift service workers.

I live in a suburb south of the city and public transit sucks here, I would rather live in the city

@@georgegong6813 Yeah the closest bus stop to me, which was a nearly 20 minute walk, stopped having hourly service. It sucked in the first place, and now the stop only serves morning and afternoon buses for students

@@altacalifornia2580 Totally understand & feel your pain. I live in a similar situation where not only the bus is as well operate hourly. This is on weekdays. No such thing as Owl Service. Suburbs too like yours & mine need feeder service to get many to ride to the closest bus stop as well. Way it is right now if I miss the bus, might as well just walk to wherever I need to get to. Worse when you need to ride a circuitous route from a Transit Center half way through the city to just transfer & return in the same direction for the most part if you get my meaning!

@@georgegong6813 Yeah, my local bus was hourly even on weekdays. The buses were modern and clean, but that doesn’t make up for the lack of service.

Sometimes you do not know what you have, until it is gone. I ride and love the MUNI. San Francisco is one is the smallest major cities in the United States at 47 square miles, with easily one of the top five transit system in the US.

There really is no place I can think of in the city you can't get to on Muni. You wanna get to an abandoned radioactive shipyard? Oh yeah, the 19 goes there :P

I was born in SF, and it will always be home. I am glad that I get to go back at least once a week, though looking at finding ways to relocate back there. I really miss it, hell I even kept my library card, and it still works.

WARNING: There is a crazed lunatic Muni driver who operates the 8BX Bayshore B Express line on the weekends... 😳
This dude is DANGEROUS, cuz he drives the bus just like a bat outta HELL!!!
    Driving HELLA FAST and DANGEROUSLY.
I especially dread it the most when we are on the freeway headed either towards or back from downtown.
He must be going at TOP SPEED, or at like least way over the legal speed limit. He still continues to floor the gas even when we are already off the freeway ramp and on the streets. Cruising right by The Hall of Justice at 50+ MPH on a busy/crowded Sunday afternoon, anybody? He even enters turns and curves at VERY HIGH speeds; making you feel the extremely nauseating effects and pressure of the G-forces as he 'drifts' with with this HUGE multi-ton bus, all loaded with scared passengers and everything. The way he drives, just plants you right into your seat and makes you hold on for dear life! He doesn't even hit the brakes until the bus is like nearly within feet/yards from SLAMMING right into other vehicles that are all waiting for the traffic lights up ahead. I swear, if he was ever to as much as hit or clip like another vehicle while going at those speeds; we would all be in BIG trouble. Expect some heavy losses and casualties there. I'm NOT kidding! You can clearly hear the engine roaring VERY LOUDLY as he drives it to the LIMITS. As I look around, I could see the TERRIFIED faces on fellow passengers who are seated or standing nearby. Some of the passengers upfront even tried to call out to him or wave for him to slow down, but I don't think he even heard 'em tho. When I stand up to look at him in the rear-view mirror, the guy just seems like he is completely lost in a hypnotic trance or haze. I don't think it would be a very good idea to try and talk or reason with him while he is driving like that. Last time I checked, you weren't really supposed to RACE the Muni buses; let alone a bus fully loaded with passengers. Who is HE to gamble with OUR lives? Once I timed him with my watch, and noticed that he had broken a new SPEED RECORD; by making it from North Beach all the way to the Balboa Park BART station in under 30 minutes. He skipped MANY bus stops along the way, while constantly out yelling verbal threats and honking his horn very aggressively at other drivers to move the hell outta the way. He spoke with a HEAVY Spanish accent... Possibly Cuban or Puerto Rican, I'm not real sure tho. Anybody who did not comply, risked getting their asses rammed right off the road. While this may sound like a good thing; it is actually NOT. You have NO idea just how SCARY and TERRIFYING the ride was unless you were actually there with me on that very bus. I was SO dreadfully afraid, that he might either hit a road divider and flip the bus over, or smash right into one of the barriers somewhere along the freeway and then send the whole goddamn bus hurling all the way down into the streets below. You really don't see horrific bus accidents like that happening too often outside of Latin America or the Middle East. But it is still VERY possible tho, with suicidal maniac bus drivers like HIM behind the wheel. Just WHO in his right mind would ever hire a driver like that? One of these days, he is gonna get all of the passengers KILLED. I have NO idea what kinda drugs this bus driver is on, but he must be on some HEAVY SHIT!!!
