    Makes perfect sense to me. I am so happy I found your channel. I am working towards completing my first muscle up at age 62.

    I’ve performed resistance training off and on since my senior year in high school, but just now at age 62 I have fallen in love with calisthenics.

    For me the band helped a lot on my way doing one single MU repetition to multiple singles.
    I mainly struggled with the transition. My weak point was that I was not able to lean forward when I was at the top of the pull up.
    It was relatively easy with one leg on the ground because I used it to slightly lift my butt and so my chest came forward and I got it.
    I used the band and did only the movement of the top of the pull up to the bottom of the dip and back (the transition). I did it without momentum and only with support, that allowed me 2-3 repetitions in one set.
    This helped me to focus on what my shoulder girdle has to do get the transition done.
    I am now able to do 2 reps in a row and still use the bands to do some additional transitions after the MU sets.
    It takes some time to get used to the band and I also wont recommend it for learning the whole movement. But you want to do tranisitions in isolation without allow you to cheat this could be an option.
    But as always a really good video and I am happy that you do so much new content 👍

      That's cool that the band helped you out with the transition. :)

    Question: do you think this concept might also be applicable with the bar muscle up?

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, if you can find a lower bar, it works there too :)

    Great video. But we all know is what we really need to get the MU is a sleeping dog to cheer you on while you train 😂

    Can you place the band on sole of feet instead of the seat?

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure, if you have the height. But I still don't like it since you're bound to have the band slip and come off of your heels.

  • @PM-dy8xs
    @PM-dy8xs ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi ,Im getting stuck with the transition, i just can't seem to get that extra height when doing the false grip pull up to make the transition. Should i go back to practising more pull ups or baby muscle ups to overcome this problem.

      In my opinion yes, practice the transition as that is the sticking point for most people. Also, when you pull up, look up and when you start to transition into the dip look down. That will give you some rotational momentum through the transition. Think of jumping up and heading a football (soccer) ball

    Nice! Do you think this could also be a helpful method to progress one arm pullups?

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can be, yes, and I never used a band under my feet or around me when working to get the one arm chin-up.

    Great Vid! All you need is Zero Band and Xero shoes 😉
    But more important, where's Bree? And how you make them dogs sleep like that?❤

      Bree passed away a couple of years ago. I take Henry to the park and run him before shooting any vids. A tired dog is a good dog. ;)

    Great info, as always 👍 I got my MU with a mix of band and baby MU, but I never got to attempt several reps. Maybe next training cycle. How can is this applicable to a bar MU? I never got to achieve it, and it's on my list.

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's one thing with bars is they aren't usually adjustable, but if you can find a lower one, this is an option :)

    People who cannot make unsupported muscle up barely can perform such grip with rings.

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you can't grip the rings, then you're not ready for this training. You need to begin with hangs (see our video in that) and then progress to pull-ups (see our videos on that) first.
      Of course, there's going to be people who can't do this. MUs aren't for beginners. Start at an appropriate level.
