Another (probably not so fun) fact: Chai at the beginning is shown to wear a sling on his arm, implying that he had a accident. John Johanas- the creator had confirmed that he never had a full function of his arm to begin with, which means Chai is disabled from the start. It is the reason why he never knows how to play the guitar, he just physically cannot without his robot arm. You can see that he is trying to learn when you notice that there's a musical sheet book in the game menu right beside the couch he usually lies down.

I was wondering if that was the case, and I actually love that. It gives a different and painful meaning to Kale saying he’s nothing without the arm affecting him so much. That is the sort of insecurity someone might have if they went from being disabled to basically having superpowers in only a couple hours. Disability aids can cause a very unique and strange kind of imposter syndrome like that.
OH that also adds new meaning to the “defect” thing! I can’t believe I didn’t notice that sooner!

  • @ExceedRed

Another fun fact: Smidge is voiced by John Johanas, the game’s director. So he basically self inserted himself into the game to teach the player how to play

Almost everyone seems to focus more on the JoJo references that Zanzo makes, but not the one SotN reference he makes before he releases the first Z-shield bot. One other fun thing. IF you bought the deluxe upgrade for the extra cosmetics you get a guitar called the 808 Custom. They did a little extra thing with it that they didn't NEED to do.
Normally, 808's light changes depending on which summon you have selected. When using the Custom guitar, whenever a cutscene has the guitar become real the lights on the guitar ALSO change to reflect which summon you have ready even though you can't summon people in cutscenes. I love that they decided to do that even though there was no need to.

Korsica is also linked to a coffee type - Corisca, is a blend named for a Mediterranean island. Given all the lines about her needing coffee in this game, I think it's a fair guess. The alien DNA thing is most definitely a nod to Arkane Studio's Prey 2017, given that Arkane is a sister studio to Tango under the Bethesda umbrella. but given that Dead Space is an influence to Prey 2017, you're not too far off

I have some easter eggs that you forgot to mention:
    1) The Japanese voice actor for Dio in JoJo bizarre adventures is also the one who voiced Kale in the Japanese dub
    2) When you quit before finishing a chapter, you will get some sort of “ sequence breaking dialogue” in the hideout once you return
    3) Using “Holo-Chai” and “8O8 gigawatt cat-attack” on the bosses, they will say a specific line about it
    4) There is a useless chip that makes you ignore loot while dashing through it (I don’t remember the exact description for it). It basically a test from peppermint to see if Chai does read the description XD.
    4) Left shark from Katty Perry 2015 Superbowl half-time show.
    5) In addition to your fact about Korsica’s monitor, beside “5 ways to make your boss happy”, there’s a folder called “cat gifs” XD.
    6) CNMN full name is “Consciousness Review Allocation Personnel”, well abbreviates to "CRAP".
    7) Edit: At the cannon adjusting part, if you look on the billboards, you will actually see head of production seat is available
    8) Edit: You can use dodge instead of parry (this is for people wants to make a new game slot)
P/s: sorry for bad english, if I missed anything, feel free to reply, thanks XD

that xenogears reference was the most amazing reference ive ever seen in anything 😆
Wasn't mentioned here, but its made even more perfect by the "wish you could've seen it" line, poking fun at Xenogears' disc 2's habit of telling you about a dungeon and then letting you fight the boss kinda like 'wow, what a wild dungeon, that was cool huh?' lol
Also made better by the fact that (while being a great reference) they also used the same method Xenogears used to solve the same kind of issue in development; not having enough time to finish it all and using this method as a kind of shortcut to getting the full story completed.

Chai actually has some attacks that are very similar to Nero's attacks from Devil May Cry 4 and 5.
The magnetic pull, for example, is a big part of Nero's Gameplay, in 4 as the Devil Bringer's Snatch, and in 5 as the Devil Breaker's winch, with Buster Arm and Rawhide having an empowered version. The main difference is that Nero pulls smaller enemies to himself, and pulling himself towards larger enemies.
Guitar Ride is pretty much Punch Line's Jet Gadget ability.
Mix that with the Cybernetic Right Arm, and if I say that the white hair costume option for Chai may very well be a nod to Nero is not as far fetched.

The SEB-AAA performance also gives a solid argument for having Roger Craig Smith voice an expanded Metal Sonic role in a potential Sonic Heroes remake. (In the original game, Metal Sonic was just a robotically modified version of Ryan Drummond's Sonic voice, so it's very possible a remake would have Roger Craig Smith's voice modified in a similar way to what we hear with SEB-AAA.)

I'm not into rhythm or fighting games, but this game is so chock-full packed with details and funny bits, it was such a delight to watch a stream of it. You really can feel the developers put so much love into this game. Other bits you didn't mention: If you exit a level, you first return to the hide-out and the side characters usually have some kind of tongue-in-cheek meta-commentary about how they're confused to meet Chai back in the hide-out so soon. After Tango-chan gets sucked into the mirror, there will be a midding poster of Tango-chan in a later level. Then in an even later level, you can find Tango-chan bandaged with a gun in front of a broken mirror, implying it was kidnapped by the mirror but made it back out after some fight. So the little snail basically has a mini side-story :)

She's set up just like Pudding during your rival battles with her entourage and doing nearly the same animations, with identical patterns and timings to various SC5 stages. I was waiting for a variation on Up Down Up Down Chu Chu Chu! The music in the prior stage also sounds like a style pastiche of the kind of tracks you'd head in SC5 placed into a blender with Persona 5.

There's a reference in the special attacks you can unlock.
The skill is called Rip and Tear and in its description it says that chai is channelling a beast, some sort of "evil within". I believe its a double / tripple reference. The evil within is a nod to not just Tango's previous works The Evil Within. The reference might also be a referencing a cheeky joke they did in TEW2 where characters in dialogue name drop the game's name and then look at the player camera. Rip and Tear is most likely a reference to the latest DOOM games since that franchise is under the Bethesda Umbrella as well.

After beating Mimosa, as Kale enters the stage, he turns to one of the bots and says "Shut the campus down." The bot replies with "Which sections sir?" to which Kale turns around and bellows out "ALL OF THEM!" This is a reference to Leon the Professional, where Stansfield turns to one of his goons and screams "Everyone!" after telling him to send everyone on the police force to go after Leon. The shot is exactly like the movie.

The alien DNA in the eye is referring to Prey, another Bethesda game. In fact all of the logs in that room refer to other Bethesda games. Fallout and Evil within are the others off the top of my head. They're presented in such a clever way poking fun at the somewhat silly premise of the games.

    A couple other things...
    - During the Twin Peaks scene, the music playing sounds exactly like the series' music composer Angelo Badalamenti. (RIP)
    - FLCL being a massive reference in the whole game, the less known, similar (& awesome!) anime movie "Dead Leaves" is also inspiration.
    - Kale's character is much inspired by Trevor Goodchild; the main villain of Perter Chung's 90's animated series "Aeon Flux." Visually & even personality traits.
    Stuff i noticed..all imo..

    I got a reference.
Rekka boss fight arena resembles an Ring. There are three pipes are each side of the room.
And while we are at it, Rekka throwing her glove at Chai is a sign of her “challenging” Chai to a duel. It’s just looks funny. Bc he gets slapped hard
I also get an Egg. So apparently during the Cutscene staring Korsicas fight, there is a scene where Macaron, Pep and CNMN circles them from the wall angle. What’s cool is, if you look carefully to the side, you can SEE how many Graffiti you’ve collected through the game. And it shows no matter how many. One. A few, many, all of them. In the order you get them anyway. A nice detail that I appreciate
