- Soldiers of the Queen is a song written and composed by Leslie Stuart. The song is often sung and published as "Soldiers of the King" depending on the reigning monarch at the time. The tune was originally composed by Stuart as a march celebrating the opening of the Manchester Ship Canal. The lyrics were added at a later date and the title changed. The song was then interpolated in the musical comedy An Artist's Model (1895).
The painting is titled as 'Presentation by HM Queen Victoria of New Colours to the 79th Cameron Highlanders on Return from 16 years of Foreign Service in India, April 1873'
I showed this to my Grandma (I'm British) and she started recalling memories of the war (she was born in 1939). The first time she really heard it since the war and she started singing along.
Lovely to hear that mate.
The most patriotic English Tune . More people need to know about it. It is now my favourite patriotic tune. Harkens to the Apex of Britains influence.

KAISER 2 WILL NEVER DIE
This is what makes Scots angry. I am British. I am a Scot. We have a "British/Engish" patriotic song, with which I have no complaint ~ I used to happily sing it as a Wean!.. Yet the "uploader, given the present day "climate" uses a picture showing Scots Soldiers preenting "Colours, The illustration in itself is not offensive ~ it's appropriate to the time. But with this song now? Sheer Arrogance.
The Scots, Irish & Welsh moan and groan about England but do the English ever do the same about these devolved countries? No! All these devolved countries have their patriotic songs, stories and music which is of course OK. But when it's the English, are now that's a different matter!

As a Brazilian Anglophile, I'll say that we have annoying "ethnics" down here too. The more you acquiesce to these resentful turdlet city-sized 'nations', the more they'll demand from you because their resentment does not come from a feeling of longing to be accepted as equal to the English, they already are, but out of a colossal inferiority complex that cannot be satiated as it's innate, they hate it that you exist, they hate it that it's your language, legal systems, culture etc... that the world cares about and that they're merely riding along with you, anything will be viewed as an arrogant slight, it's frankly impossible to even interact with such cretins.
I've said too much alreday, but Rule Britannia! God Save The King!
