      They sell it every were around here even the bumb on the streets can afford $10 bottle normal half gallon unless you go expensive way then for get it

    PS vingar and honey, in 1:1? Is a method of making stomach acid, when tummy is upset from bad food combining or ate too much at holiday dinners.

    Just to reiterate: use glycerine that's labeled food grade or vegetable glycerine. There is a glycerine that's made with petroleum.😝

      LMBO. LAST YEAR went out of liquor store with two boxes of alcohol. They ask me if I was having a party. First year doing extracts and herbs.

They had to go back into a special room....off of the special liquor section of the store!....to get it. And then I had to sign for it! Oh, the horror! 😂 I don't care anymore.

    Now this time it was very interesting timing. I just picked up some Spiced Rum yesterday for vanilla extract! BUT....I also have some glycerin that I've been meaning to use to make some flavoring extracts - so thanks for the reminder! BTW - do you use the Spiced Rum for anything else? Just looking for ideas.

    Great information! I’m going to try maple syrup with herbs for my great granddaughters. I feel better about using that for them and feel that they may actually take it. Many Blessings!

      If you mean using it straight without vinegar, I did an experiment with it for a pain extract and it did not work well.

    Question. If mullein tea needs to be filtered twice to remove the irritating hairs, how are the extracts (with thicker bases) filtered for the same reason?

      That is one reason why glycerin or honey needs to be mixed with water or other less viscous liquid. The solvent will become very watery and strain just fine

      I have wondered that too as many say certain constituents can only be extracted with alcohol but I personally do not fully believe that.

      It is actually a by product of soap making but there is some special process used to separate it from the soap and I do not know if that can be done at home

      Do you mean a black seed infused oil or a pressed oil directly from the seeds? I have never made either but for an infused oil I would think you would need to at least crush the seeds

      Sounds like you are considering an oil infusion which is usually for topical use, a bit different than an extract. While yes you can, I tend to stay away from oils that are more likely to go rancid like that one for my infused oils. My personal favorite in that case is avocado oil

    Glycerine is just one step away from alcohol and I disagree about blood sugar effects.my experience with cough medicines contradicts your information. Never heard of Oxymel. How do you strain out those needle- like hairs on Mullen? Thanks for the demos

      @@Shavenerd53119 Try an Epsom salt soak. Add some dried or fresh comfrey leaves to the water if you have them or a few drops of peppermint essential oil. After the soak and once dried, consider using shea butter to soften and moisturize

      I use whichever one is in my kitchen and it can be a mix of any kind. It is likely a blend of apple, mango, and banana peel, but I do not remember because I simply top off my bottle periodically with whatever vinegar is ready that is not one I reserve for my hair or cleaning

    Obviously its anyones choices, but i hate glycerine as Tincture base. I have had made the mistake and bought Vanilla that way. Yuck! LOL I find it does change the taste of vanilla.

    I noticed you are using a metal spoon and fork with your honey. That destroys the medicinal properties in the honey and you are to use wooden or plastic utensils only. I have seen this on so many videos using honey for meds.

      No it does not if you are using stainless steel. The problem with this rumor is that people simply say "metal" without specifying what kind. The same misinformation is spread about using metal with ferments and bentonite clay but again, it is the type of metal that matters. Silver, copper, and aluminum should be avoided but stainless steel is non reactive and safe

      Heidi is correct. Stainless steel is non-reactive. This is why it is so prevalent in commercial and home kitchens.
